After a late night at the office, the writer and a coworker waited about an hour, took a terrace seat, and ordered 3 servings of beef gopchang for 57,000 won, yang (beef tripe) fried rice for 9,000 won, and a Terra beer for 5,000 won, while the owner set a stopwatch and cut the gopchang after 5 minutes so the rich fat stayed inside. There are actually quite a few famous hanwoo (Korean beef) gopchang spots around Jamsil. This time we visited the Bangi branch of Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang. With a coworker I've gotten surprisingly close to. (We keep saying we never thought we'd end up this close.) We came right after work, and since it was peak evening hours, Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang Bangi branch had quite a wait. Even after we wrote our name on the list, more and more names kept getting added. Clearly a popular place! The weather's been so nice lately... isn't a terrace(?) seat exactly what you want? There's a Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang branch in my own neighborhood too — the Sindang branch! With chain restaurants, the taste can sometimes vary by location, but Jinseong Hanwoo Gopchang is delicious at both the Sindang and Bangi branches. Really, really good.
