Today I’m introducing Kosi Konkuk University Branch, a tonkatsu spot by Konkuk University Station.

They sell lots of different tonkatsu and udon dishes. The portions are big and the food tastes clean, so I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a pleasantly satisfying meal!

Kosi Konkuk University Branch is less than a five-minute walk from Exit 1 of Konkuk University Station, so it’s very easy to get to.

Come out of Exit 1 and walk straight, and you’ll see Kosi Konkuk University Branch right away. It really is so close to the station, which I loved haha.

There’s a menu board outside too. Thankfully, the interior is spacious enough that I got in without waiting, but it was busy even at a late weekday lunch hour. Seeing all those people, I thought, maybe it really is a popular spot.

If you can, sit by the floor-to-ceiling windows! On a nice day, you can enjoy the outside view while you eat.

## A varied menu, from udon and tonkatsu to rice bowls

The main dishes at Kosi Konkuk University Branch are udon and tonkatsu.

They had both cold and hot udon, plus many kinds of tonkatsu: regular tonkatsu, cheese tonkatsu, half-and-half tonkatsu, assorted katsu, and more. They also sell rice bowls.

There are three rice bowl options: gyudon (beef rice bowl), karaage-don (fried chicken rice bowl), and katsudon (cutlet rice bowl)! I liked that every rice bowl can be ordered spicy or mild. Also, when you order an à la carte dish, you can add udon for ₩3,000.

There are plenty of side dishes too. Since I wanted to try tonkatsu, udon, and gyudon all at once, I ordered three things: half-and-half tonkatsu, mild gyudon with udon, and tempura.

## A full spread of half-and-half tonkatsu, gyudon, and tempura

![A full spread of half-and-half tonkatsu, gyudon, udon, and tempura](https://img.superchart.com/images/konshi-geondae-gyudon-udong-meal/konshi-geondae-gyudon-udong-meal-20-pt78y-900.webp)

And here’s everything that arrived. The presentation is insane, right? Every individual dish was generously portioned too.

![Gyudon set served with udon](https://img.superchart.com/images/konshi-geondae-gyudon-udong-meal/konshi-geondae-gyudon-udong-meal-21-3751u-900.webp)

The gyudon set came first, and what surprised me was how much udon came with the ₩3,000 add-on, hahaha.

![Gyudon with a generous portion of udon](https://img.superchart.com/images/konshi-geondae-gyudon-udong-meal/konshi-geondae-gyudon-udong-meal-22-1fsvu-900.webp)

Naturally, I expected something like the mini udon you get at a sushi restaurant, but it came in a bowl as big as the gyudon bowl, so I got a more substantial meal than expected. The gyudon also had lots of meat, and it was seriously delicious hahaha. There was so much that I probably left without even finishing half the gyudon because I was full. Such a shame…

![Tempura with shrimp, sweet potato, perilla leaf, and kabocha squash](https://img.superchart.com/images/konshi-geondae-gyudon-udong-meal/konshi-geondae-gyudon-udong-meal-23-dkqgc-900.webp)

The tempura included three shrimp, one sweet potato, one perilla leaf, and one kabocha squash. It wasn’t overly greasy, which was nice. Think of it as the kind of tempura that would go in tendon (tempura rice bowl).

### Half-and-half tonkatsu with lots of cheese

The half-and-half tonkatsu comes with two cheese tonkatsu pieces and loin tonkatsu pieces, and the cheese tonkatsu was seriously amazing. The loin was tender and good too, but the cheese cutlet was especially cheese-heavy and had that great cheese pull, so I might just order cheese tonkatsu next time. Though then again, the half-and-half is great because you get to enjoy both kinds.

## A good place for a group to choose according to their tastes

Anyway, I liked how neatly prepared everything was. I’m not personally a huge tonkatsu person, but they sell not only tonkatsu, but also udon, memil noodles, rice bowls, and lots of sides, so I think it would be an easy, solid place for a group with different preferences. If you’re looking for a good tonkatsu spot by Konkuk University Station, I recommend trying Kosi Konkuk University Branch at least once ♥ Next time, I want to try hot or cold udon as the actual main dish instead of the mini udon added to a set. The food comes out quickly too, so do visit!
