## In short

Bigeumdo is a Korean restaurant in Nohak-dong, Sokcho, serving pressure-cooker pollack soup (hwangtae gukbap) alongside mulhoe, cold raw fish in an icy broth. After a swim with her child at Ayajin Beach, the writer came for dinner and went back and forth between the milky pollack soup and the tangy, spicy mulhoe, finishing with thin somyeon noodles in the broth. Private parking in front of the building and a separate private room make Bigeumdo an easy dinner stop for families with kids.

## Where to eat in Sokcho after a beach day at Ayajin

After playing in the water with my kid at Ayajin Beach, we went for dinner at Bigeumdo, a Korean restaurant in Nohak-dong, Sokcho. I'd had my eye on it because they serve pressure-cooker pollack soup together with mulhoe (cold raw fish soup).

You can't skip a beach day when you visit Sokcho~🌊 During the day, we had a blast riding waves with my kid at Ayajin Beach, which has clear water and is great for kids, and built sandcastles with the soft sand, losing all track of time!

> After sandcastles and swimming to our hearts' content in the sea breeze... my stomach started growling like crazy haha. My kid was shouting 'Mom, I'm hungry!' too, so we headed straight for Bigeumdo, the Korean restaurant in Sokcho I'd already picked out for dinner!

After swimming, what I really wanted wasn't something cold but a warm, hearty broth to soothe my stomach, and hearing they had an unusual dish — pressure-cooker pollack soup — I went in with 200% expectations!

## Is there parking and a private room at Bigeumdo?

Bigeumdo has private parking right in front of the building, so there's zero parking stress, and inside there's also a private, separated room space. Parking near Sokcho Jungang Market is often a nightmare, but here I pulled straight into a spacious private lot.

Walking inside, I found not just hall tables but a neat, well-equipped private room space too!

> 💡 I thought this would be great for family dinners with parents, gatherings before or after hiking Seoraksan or a round of golf, and for anyone looking for a formal meeting spot in Sokcho or a nice room-style restaurant.

## Free yukjeon for a Naver receipt review

Looking at the sign on the table at Bigeumdo, I saw that writing a Naver receipt review gets you a free serving of beef jeon (pan-fried beef)! Most places just give you a can of soda, so beef jeon... that's a perk you should definitely grab haha.

## Pressure-cooker pollack soup: milky broth with the rice already in it

Bigeumdo's pressure-cooker pollack soup comes with the rice already mixed into the broth, and it's served with five side dishes: stir-fried eggplant, stir-fried julienned potato, cucumber muchim, salted squid, and diced radish kimchi. The neat banchan were laid out first after ordering.

Finally, today's star arrived! An unusual dish I'd never seen before — pollack soup. Seeing on the menu that it comes out in a pressure cooker, I was curious what it would even look like...

*Can you see the milky broth?*

When it first landed on the table, I didn't see a separate rice bowl, so I thought, 'Huh? Is this a separate soup-and-rice combo? I thought they only gave us soup...?' and stirred it with my spoon — and there it was, rice already mixed deliciously into the broth!

It was absolutely packed with pollack and bean sprouts! Since it's simmered together with the rice in a pressure cooker, the broth has a slightly thick, silky texture, almost like a bone broth.

The pollack's distinctly savory, deep flavor soaked fully into every single grain of rice, making it so easy to eat and not the least bit harsh. My body, which had been a little chilled from the sea breeze, warmed right up from the inside with the first spoonful... haha. My kid blew on it and polished off a whole bowl too, which made this mom proud!

## Sokcho mulhoe: thick slices of raw fish in an icy broth

Bigeumdo's mulhoe comes piled high with thick slices of raw fish over a bright red, icy broth, and you can finish it off by mixing in thin wheat noodles. After soothing my stomach with the hot, thick pollack soup, we were at the Sokcho coast, so a cool, refreshing mulhoe was absolutely not to be skipped!

Thick, fresh slices of raw fish piled high over a bright red icy broth — the look alone made my mouth water! I gave it a light stir with my spoon and took a bite... tangy and sweet with a clean, spicy finish that I loved.

The chewy, springy texture of the fish and the crunch of the fresh vegetables burst in your mouth. A bite of warm pollack soup, then a chopstick-full of cool, tangy mulhoe, back and forth haha, and finishing with the noodles mixed in at the end, slurped right up~

> Rich, milky pressure-cooker pollack soup and refreshing mulhoe, plus the beef jeon perk, washed away all the tiredness from playing in the water at Ayajin — a truly solid Korean restaurant in Sokcho!
