I had a meeting-slash-gathering with some friends near Konkuk this time! I heard there was a quiet, spacious room bar near Konkuk University Station good for meetings and dinners, so I decided to check it out :)

## Where is Sinseon Sulzip Dowon, and what are its hours and parking?

Sinseon Sulzip Dowon's Konkuk flagship is on the 2nd and 3rd floors at 33 Achasan-ro 33-gil, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. It's open daily from 16:00–05:00, with Saturday and Sunday opening at 15:00, and Friday and Saturday closing at 06:00.

There's no dedicated parking lot, so you'll need to use a nearby one!

First off, Sinseon Sulzip Dowon is famous for having tons of affordable, good-value dishes and a wide variety of cooked food. I've never seen a bar with mango bingsu-style cake before haha. Beyond the cooked dishes, they have a ton of desserts too, so I feel like women would really love this place! Also, everything here is handmade — they apparently source fresh ingredients directly and cook them themselves?? Even the side dishes like kimchi are homemade, which I really appreciated haha. We ordered the Pyongyang dumpling sujebi hot pot, the popular chicken jeon, and the ojam mountain-pile kongbul!

## Chicken jeon, 19,800 won: the best dish of the night

The first thing to arrive was the chicken jeon (₩19,800)! This jeon (pan-fried dish) is made with 100% chicken thigh meat — high quality — and comes with a delicious soy-garlic dipping sauce.

The size was just right and it was piled with green onion shreds — the look alone was already insane... 👏🏻 It sat on a pizza warmer so it stayed hot the whole time, which was a big plus! Oh, this chicken jeon? Definitely the tastiest dish we ordered that night!! The chicken thigh meat was plump and satisfying, and the green onion shreds brought the flavor to life even more — such a great combo haha. The jeon itself was chewy too, kind of like a potato pancake texture! The quality was genuinely excellent.

## Ojam kongbul, 21,000 won: squid and pork hearty enough for a meal

Next up was the ojam mountain-pile kongbul (₩21,000). Bean sprouts, meat, and squid come piled up like a mountain. The moment it arrived, all my friends went 'whoa' haha. We came here as our second stop, but if you're looking for a bar where you can actually eat a real meal, stop by Sinseon Sulzip Dowon first... haha, you can absolutely make a meal of it here.

They said it's stir-fried in Dowon's own special sauce, and honestly, the smell of the sauce while it cooked was insane... The bean sprouts were super fresh and crunchy! Even after wilting a bit, they stayed crisp. The squid was fresh and plump too, and it went great with the meat — a proper drinking snack. Honestly, I thought it tasted a bit bland at first, but once it cooked down more, it was delicious!! You can add fried rice too, so definitely try it.

## Pyongyang dumpling and beef tendon hot pot, 29,800 won, with frosty draft beer

And finally, the Pyongyang dumpling sujebi hot pot (₩29,800) arrived! I love sujebi (beef tendon) hot pot to begin with, so pairing it with dumplings...? Amazing before I even tasted it 🩵 Pulling the sujebi out first and letting it cool slightly made it super chewy, and the portion was pretty generous too. The dumplings were huge, packed with meat and juice, and paired perfectly with the warm broth :)

And this is the frosty draft beer (₩5,000) I ordered on top. The glass itself is frozen, so it's insanely cold hahaha. Beer really does taste best when it's super, super cold haha.

Cheers~~ I was the only one drinking beer, so I ended up hogging it from my friends? Haha. Everyone raved about how varied and delicious the food was here :) There was also a table next to us with two women who ordered a dessert dish, and I made a mental note to definitely try dessert next time.

True to the name Sinseon Sulzip Dowon, the exterior really has that Korean traditional vibe! With its hanok (traditional Korean house) style, it seemed like it would feel quieter, darker, and more subdued inside. The building has three floors total — 2nd, 3rd, and 4th — which is probably why it's also known as a spot for group dinners near Konkuk.

This is the interior of the 2nd floor! Walking in, the interior really gave off a 'peach-blossom paradise' vibe that immediately caught my eye! The 2nd floor felt less like a quiet room setup and more open and casual, with a decent number of seats. I'd recommend it for group hangouts with friends or a Konkuk date spot with a partner :)

There's also a water wheel spinning inside, which makes the atmosphere feel even more like 'Dowon' (peach-blossom paradise)... haha. Fun little touch.

And with the windows open like this, it's great for drinking in the cool, breezy weather these days!! Kind of gives off a terrace vibe haha.

## Private rooms on the 3rd and 4th floors and the 12-seat rooftop

And here's the interior of the 3rd and 4th floors! Both of these floors are made up of private rooms, and the 4th floor is set up for group seating, with even larger rooms. Having windows means it doesn't feel stuffy, which is a big plus. The rooms can hold up to 25 people, so I could see booking a big room like this for a future business gathering! 😎

And here's the rooftop seating! There's no 5th floor button in the elevator, so I had no idea there was a rooftop, but walking up the stairs from the 4th floor leads to a 12-seat rooftop?? It has a bit of a party-room feel, so I think it'd also be great for a birthday party 🎂. The atmosphere was really nice too haha.

And here — the women's restroom is genuinely impressively thoughtful...🫢🫢 Mouthwash, a hair straightener, contact lens cases — you name it, they have it...? Places like this get a lot of date and blind-date traffic, so having a straightener or mouthwash on hand feels amazing, don't you think?? That kind of thoughtful touch makes you feel taken care of haha. I was genuinely touched 💕

## Is Sinseon Sulzip Dowon worth it for a group night out?

So that was my visit to Sinseon Sulzip Dowon, a well-known Konkuk restaurant and group-room bar! First off, the atmosphere across the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors was fantastic. Having large room seating that accommodates group gatherings and company dinners is a real strength here! The dishes were also varied and delicious, so it works whether it's your first or second stop of the night — honestly, I'd rather come here first and eat through the desserts too haha. If you're near Konkuk University Station looking for a bar with a great group atmosphere, a good date spot for a blind date, or just a bar with excellent food, definitely give Sinseon Sulzip Dowon a visit haha.
