This time I went looking for a bar in Hannam-dong with a slightly different vibe from usual and ended up at EOD Hannam. Unlike a typical bar, this is a place where you can enjoy shisha (hookah) too, so I'd wanted to check it out for a while, and finally went with a friend.

Honestly, the closest I've come to smoking in my life is... maybe just putting a cigarette to my mouth once? I've never really been interested in regular cigarettes, but shisha works completely differently from a regular cigarette from the setup alone, so I'd always been a little curious.

The interior is built mostly around dark wood tones, giving it a calm, weighty feel — but not in a way that's overly formal or stiff.

Every object and piece of furniture inside felt carefully chosen, and the tables and chairs were prettier and comfier than what you'd find at a typical bar, so it was comfortable to sit for a long time 😌

There's a shared restroom inside the venue too, and it's really clean with nice interior — no need to worry about that! Looking around, there was also a room-like separated space, where I saw people vaping shisha while working on their laptops. That alone told me how comfortable and casual the overall vibe here is.

At EOD Hannam, you can order just one hookah for two people to share together 👍🏻 A single hookah costs more than a regular drink, so at first I wondered if we should each order our own, but taking turns with a friend on one still let us enjoy it for a good long while.

Shisha is generally a menu item you can enjoy for quite a long time, so rather than feeling like a quick smoke-and-go, it's a space made for sitting, talking, and letting time pass slowly.

## The nicotine-free beginner hookah in coconut and lemon

What we picked at EOD Hannam was the beginner hookah, in a coconut plus lemon flavor combo. The beginner option comes without nicotine, so someone like me who doesn't normally smoke could try it fairly worry-free.

If it's your first time with shisha, choosing a flavor can feel a bit tricky since there are so many cigar-flavor options — but I liked that you don't have to settle on just one; you can request a combination of the flavors you want haha.

My friend occasionally smokes cigars but had never tried shisha either, so we both went with the beginner option, plus two cocktails (mimosa, old fashioned) and a zero-sugar cola!! We heard coconut plus lemon is one of the most popular combos, so we ordered that too.

Mimosas can sometimes taste too much like plain orange juice, or go the other way and taste overly boozy, but EOD Hannam's version didn't have that imbalance. The sweet, tangy orange-base flavor came through first, with the alcohol following naturally after — genuinely tasty. +zero-sugar cola

Coconut alone can feel a bit heavy for some people, but adding tangy lemon on top gave it real balance haha. The coconut's soft sweetness paired with the lemon's brightness made it way easier to enjoy than I expected.

As we smoked, the room briefly turned a bit hazy, which felt like a novel atmosphere I hadn't experienced before — I actually kind of liked it. If you're into dark wood tones, a calm mood, and a hip feel overall, this space would suit your taste 😼

Best of all, my friend, who'd smoked cigars occasionally but never tried shisha before, said it was way better than expected haha. She kept saying 'I shouldn't get addicted to this'... while continuing to smoke it.

And then the old fashioned, which felt like a bit of a challenge for someone as lightweight a drinker as me. I usually go for sweet, easy-drinking cocktails, so I was a little worried about the old fashioned's strength and sharp alcohol smell, but it turned out better than expected haha.

Sure, the alcohol was noticeable given the higher proof, but it wasn't just bitter like I'd braced for — the flavor was deep and genuinely tasty. If you already like old fashioneds, this one is worth trying. I don't usually order this cocktail, but here it was surprisingly good...?

## Verdict: is EOD Hannam good for your first hookah?

I went into EOD Hannam simply wanting to try shisha once, and it turned out to be a much more fun experience than expected. If you've never tried shisha before, starting with the beginner option seems like a good call.
