Today I visited a gamjatang (pork bone soup) restaurant I heard was great near Yangjae Citizen's Forest and Yangjaecheon Stream! This is Chomu Gamjatang, a Yangjaecheon favorite.

## What kind of restaurant is Chomu Gamjatang?

Famous for its gamjatang, Chomu Gamjatang also sells ppyeo-haejangguk (bone hangover soup) and spicy ppyeo-jjim (braised bones)!! The portions are really generous and the meat is tender and delicious, making it a Yangjaecheon favorite loved by everyone from kids to grandparents. Even on a weekday visit the place was completely full, so if you're craving gamjatang, I recommend just going for it without overthinking.

## Waiting time and parking at Chomu Gamjatang

Outside Chomu Gamjatang there was a waiting zone set up for customers when the place is full. They don't take reservations, so seating goes by order of arrival — we got lucky and there was exactly one seat left, so we got in right as we arrived.

In front of the shop there was parking for about 5 cars, and there was also a roadside spot in front where people parked when the lot was full.

## Table setting and the self-serve corner

Once seated, they neatly gave us water in bottled form!! Some people are sensitive about reusable water bottles, so this bottled water was nice, and paper cups were set at every seat.

Aprons were available too, set up nearby for you to grab yourself!

## Is the large gamjatang enough for four people?

Chomu Gamjatang's menu includes ppyeo-haejangguk, gamjatang, ppyeo-jjim, and even a pork cutlet for kids!! Sizes came in small, medium, and large, and since there were 4 of us we ordered the large gamjatang — it was seriously abundant! We were 4 big eaters and we still barely managed to finish it, completely stuffed by the end.

There was a self-serve corner in the center of the shop where you could grab kimchi, kkakdugi (radish kimchi), plastic gloves, side plates, and more as needed!!

### The kimchi at Chomu Gamjatang is the real deal

They set out the first side dishes right away, and the kimchi was seriously top-tier delicious. Whether they make it themselves or know a great supplier, it was the kind of kimchi that alone would make me want to come back, good enough to eat a whole bowl of rice with just that.

## How much meat is in the large gamjatang?

Here's the visual of the large gamjatang!! It was packed with bones and looked ready to overflow — the size and quantity were huge!!

They told us it's ready to eat once the perilla leaves wilt down and it starts boiling hard. Seeing the gamjatang bones made me suddenly so hungry that even that short wait was hard to bear.

Look at the meat stuck to the bone. Just the meat alone is enough to fill you up. It really pulls off the bone easily, and the amount of meat on the gamjatang bones is honestly ridiculous.

And that's just from picking off a portion of the meat stuck to one bone — that's how much came out. Light eaters would probably say just one bone is enough to fill them up without even needing rice.

## Is the giant pork cutlet worth ordering too?

Lots of tables were ordering the pork cutlet alongside their ppyeo-haejangguk, so we ordered one too. True to its name, the giant pork cutlet came out big, in old-school Western-style Korean plating, and the sauce was totally my taste!!

We neatly cut it all up and mixed the cutlet with rice, and the sweet-and-tangy Korean-style cutlet sauce went so well with it.

Everyone said they'd just try a bite of the cutlet, but it was so good we ended up going back for more haha.

## Why the fried rice finish is a must

To finish, they fried up rice right in the gamjatang pot, and the smell and look of it were so savory and mouth-watering that I couldn't help myself.. I didn't even take a photo and just wolfed it down! Seriously, no matter how full you are, you have to eat the fried rice. If you don't, I'll hold it against you..

Chomu Gamjatang, visited as a Yangjaecheon gamjatang favorite!! It was more delicious than I expected haha. I'll definitely come back again.
