## A Pangyo Italian restaurant for our baby’s birthday

For our baby’s birthday, we went out for Italian food, something we do not eat very often. Since we were visiting with our baby, rather than simply somewhere with a nice atmosphere, we looked for a place where we could eat comfortably with a child. Andover, known as a great Pangyo brunch spot, happened to be nearby on Baekhyeon-dong Cafe Street, so we decided to visit. I loved that it had a wide range of Italian dishes, including pasta and risotto: the flavors were deep and rich overall, but not overpowering. Above all, the handmade meatballs made it a great place to dine with a child.

## A quiet terrace space on Baekhyeon-dong Cafe Street

This was actually my first time visiting Baekhyeon-dong Cafe Street, and I liked it from the first impression: it was quieter and more atmospheric than I expected. Andover caught my eye with its clean, modern exterior. There is also terrace seating for dining on nice-weather days. In a season when the weather is cooling down like this, I thought it would be really lovely to enjoy a leisurely meal outdoors.

## A comfortable interior and child-friendly touches for family meals

Once inside, the tables were generously spaced, so it did not feel cramped at all, and there was a variety of table sizes from four to six seats. It had an atmosphere that suited not only dates and gatherings with friends, but family meals out too.

We sat by the window, and each table had fresh flowers in a glass vase. Small details like that made the space feel even more inviting.

Most of all, Andover is a kid-friendly restaurant, so it was comfortable to visit with our baby. There were plenty of high chairs, and they also brought us separate children’s tableware. Since it was tableware that did not have to worry about breaking, I felt much more at ease while our child used it.

## Mushroom cream risotto that was great to share with a child

Since we planned to eat with our baby, we chose dishes that were as mild as possible that day. The mushroom cream risotto was one of the dishes we were especially happy with. It had just the right consistency—not too runny and not overly thick—and tasted quite light from the first bite. The nutty richness characteristic of cream risotto combined with the mushroom flavor for a deep taste. The mushrooms on top were especially delicious. My husband does not usually eat mushrooms much, but after trying them, he said they felt like eating meat and enjoyed them. Best of all, it was not heavily seasoned, so it was easy to share with our child. If you are looking for a mild risotto you can eat with a baby, I think you would be quite pleased with this one.

## Sweet-savory, creamy lasagna

Another dish I had been looking forward to at Andover was the lasagna. It had been such a long time since I had eaten lasagna that I was curious how it would taste, and it looked quite appetizing from the start. It was packed with meat, with a mild flavor that came through as I chewed, while the cheese added another layer of richness. What I especially liked was the ragù sauce. Sometimes when eating lasagna, the tangy taste characteristic of tomato sauce can be quite strong, but Andover’s ragù sauce was centered on sweet-savory, creamy flavors. That made it easy to eat while still being delicious.

## Fist-sized handmade meatballs and baguette

And the dish I was so glad we ordered that day! It was the handmade meatballs and baguette. We make sure to give our baby meat at every meal, and since there was a handmade meatball dish, we ordered it without hesitation. But when the meatballs arrived, I was surprised once again by how large they were. They were almost the size of a fist, so even one looked very filling. They were also wonderfully tender and moist, delicious even for adults. Dipping them in the cream sauce now and then added a nutty flavor, making them enjoyable in another way too.

To feed our baby, I broke up a meatball into small pieces and put them on a plate. After trying a bite or two, our baby must have liked it because they kept picking out and eating only the meat. When you go to an Italian restaurant with a baby, there are times when there is not really an obvious dish for the child, but at Andover, the meatballs meant we had less to worry about. It is great for a date or brunch with friends, but I would also recommend it to families like us who want an atmospheric meal with a young child. If you are looking for an Italian restaurant with a nice atmosphere in Pangyo, I highly recommend Andover on Baekhyeon-dong Cafe Street :)
