## More than just pot rice: tonkatsu, udon, and curry too

Gome Mui served not only pot rice but also tonkatsu, udon, curry, and cold soba. With loin katsu, fillet katsu, cheese katsu and various other Japanese dishes on the menu, it's a good place for anyone looking for tonkatsu near Munjeong Station to browse too. The pot rice options were varied, including perilla oil mushroom pot rice, steak pot rice, abalone pot rice, and eel pot rice. If you're after pot rice near Munjeong Station, I'd recommend starting with that section of the menu haha.

The pot rice I ordered arrived! The pot rice, soup, basic side dishes, and gim (dried seaweed) each came neatly arranged as a full spread. Let me introduce the spring greens wild sea bream pot rice first.

![Guide card explaining how to eat the sea bream pot rice](https://img.superchart.com/images/gomemui-munjeong-sea-bream-steak-hotpot-rice/gomemui-munjeong-sea-bream-steak-hotpot-rice-13-fsjxh-966.webp)

## How to eat the spring greens wild sea bream pot rice

For the sea bream pot rice, you break up the sea bream flesh into small pieces, mix it evenly with the rice, then spoon it into a bowl. Once you've scooped out the rice, you can make nurungji (scorched rice) by pouring hot tea into the pot and closing the lid. The card noted that the sauce could be salty if added all at once, so it should be poured in little by little while adjusting the seasoning. It also explained you could wrap it in gim, or top it with the pollock roe and seasoned fish roe that came alongside haha.

![Two pieces of sea bream on top of the pot rice](https://img.superchart.com/images/gomemui-munjeong-sea-bream-steak-hotpot-rice/gomemui-munjeong-sea-bream-steak-hotpot-rice-15-tf3yl-966.webp)

When I opened the pot, two large pieces of sea bream sat on top of the rice. Underneath were spring greens and finely chopped green onion, with plenty of sesame seeds sprinkled on top.

Following the instructions on the guide card, I used a spoon to break the sea bream into small pieces. I mixed everything thoroughly inside the pot so the sea bream, spring greens, and rice combined evenly!

The hot water used to make nurungji came in this thermos!

As explained, I didn't pour the sauce in all at once but added it little by little while mixing. I tried it plain first, then wrapped some in gim along the way.

I also topped the rice with the pollock roe and seasoned fish roe that came with the dish! They weren't as salty as I expected, so I ended up piling on a generous amount haha.

## Steak pot rice comes with an egg yolk

The steak pot rice also came with its own guide card. The instructions were to mix the rice and egg yolk in the pot evenly with the steak, then spoon it into a bowl. This dish also lets you make nurungji by pouring hot water into the emptied pot and closing the lid. The card said the sauce should be added little by little rather than all at once while mixing.

The steak pot rice had generously cut pieces of meat, an egg yolk, green onion, and sesame seeds on top. There were also garlic chips on one side, giving it a distinctly different setup from the sea bream pot rice.

Following the instructions, I broke the yolk and mixed the steak evenly through the rice. Since the steak pieces were cut large, several chunks remained intact even after mixing!

## Finishing with nurungji

By the time I was nearly done eating, I opened the lid to find warm nurungji ready. I think I eat pot rice just for this nurungji haha.

Gome Mui Songpa Munjeong was a place where you could enjoy a hearty meal from a wide range of Japanese dishes along with pot rice. In particular, both the sea bream pot rice and steak pot rice came with their own eating instructions, so even a first-time visitor could enjoy them without any trouble haha. Personally, I especially loved the nurungji I had at the end! If you're looking for a dinner spot near Munjeong Station or craving a hearty pot rice meal, Gome Mui Songpa Munjeong is worth a visit!
