There's a pork cutlet place I think of whenever I'm near Yuseong. Good value and easy to eat with kids, so my family went back to Gatjidong (갓지동) again haha. This time my husband said he was craving the spicy onion pork cutlet he had last time. If it's a dish someone wants to eat again after just one visit, that's reason enough to go back, right? So this family meal was at Gatjidong again! The kids eat cutlet and noodles while the adults can enjoy something spicier too, so it's an easy Yuseong restaurant for a family to agree on a menu.

## Parking and the dining room at Gatjidong Noeun Branch: is it easy with kids?

We drove, and there were parking spots right in front of the restaurant, so parking was simple. Moving around with two kids after parking is honestly its own task haha. Being able to park right out front made things easy from the start.

Inside, the space looked plenty roomy for families or larger groups. It was comfortable sitting down to eat with the kids, and baby chairs were on hand too.

And look at the baby tableware they gave us haha. Portioning the kids' food onto these cute little dishes made eating together much easier. Having this kind of setup ready is such a relief for a mom dining out with kids!

## What a family of four ordered: soba set, spicy onion pork cutlet, fries

This time we ordered the soba-and-cutlet set, the spicy onion pork cutlet, and fries. I wanted noodles as well as cutlet, plus a side to share with the kids, so this was my pick — and I loved the combo haha.

## Self-serve soup, rice and broth at Gatjidong while you wait

While waiting for our order, we hit the self-serve bar first. At Gatjidong, broth, rice, and soup are all free to help yourself to.

And you can't skip the old-school Korean-style cream soup! Somehow having a bowl before the cutlet feels like the proper way to start haha. We scooped it up, sprinkled on some pepper, and each finished a bowl of that familiar, tasty soup.

Having soup before the main dish made the wait less boring. We could also grab as much rice and broth as we needed, which was convenient throughout the meal.

A photo review event was also running during our visit. They said there are no losing entries, so if you're interested, check the signage in the restaurant. Leaving a review with a tasty photo and getting a little gift back sounds like a nice bonus haha.

## Fries for 3,500 won: enough for the adults to share

The fries finally arrived! At ₩3,500, the portion was bigger than expected, which caught my eye right away.

We ordered it for the kids, but once it landed on the table, the adults kept reaching for it too haha. We set it in the middle and everyone, kids and adults alike, dug in together. An easy, no-pressure add-on to share.

## Cold soba and pork cutlet set: pre-cut and easy to hand to a child

Next came the soba-and-cutlet set. Getting both cutlet and soba noodles in one dish was perfect for when you can't decide between the two.

I especially liked that the cutlet came pre-cut into bite-size pieces. When eating out with kids, we're usually busy cutting and portioning the moment food arrives, so being able to serve it straight onto the kids' plates was a relief. The cabbage that came with it was tasty too, and went well with the cutlet.

![Close-up of the sliced pork cutlet](https://img.superchart.com/images/gatjidong-noeun-spicy-onion-katsu-family/gatjidong-noeun-spicy-onion-katsu-family-19-1sj8h-900.webp)

The soba (buckwheat noodles) came with broth that had bits of ice floating in it, looking refreshingly cold. Dipping the noodles into the broth paired well with alternating bites of the cutlet. The kids seemed to enjoy dipping their noodles too and ate happily haha. The seasoning was well-balanced and the portion generous, so we all shared and were satisfied. If you're looking for a Yuseong restaurant to visit with kids, this kind of menu combo would be a welcome find.

## What does the spicy onion pork cutlet taste like?

And finally, the dish that was the whole reason for this return visit — the spicy onion pork cutlet.

A generous pile of onions in spicy sauce sat on top of the cutlet, and just looking at it made me want to dig in right away haha. One bite in, and I immediately understood why my husband wanted this dish again.

Cutlet can sometimes feel a bit greasy, but pairing it with the spicy sauce and onions cut through that nicely. Piling the onions onto a piece of cutlet made for a really delicious combination!

And this sauce quietly demands rice haha. Between bites of cutlet and rice, my hand kept reaching back for more. Being able to grab rice from the self-serve bar was especially welcome with this dish.

The kids had the soba-and-cutlet set while we enjoyed the spicy onion cutlet, so everyone got to eat what they liked. I think we'll order this dish again next time too haha.

## Is Gatjidong Noeun Branch worth another family meal in Yuseong?

Gatjidong strikes me as the kind of place you can stop by casually even on an ordinary day, just thinking, "want to go get cutlet today?" The portions were satisfying for the price, and being able to freely use the soup, rice, and broth bar made for a hearty meal. With baby chairs and cute baby tableware ready, plus dishes both kids and adults could enjoy, it was a Yuseong restaurant that worked well for our family.

On a day near Yuseong when we're craving pork cutlet, I think we'll end up back at Gatjidong again. The spicy onion pork cutlet especially — I'm already craving it again haha. A family meal out that we all enjoyed with the kids!
