Every time we eat out with the kids, deciding what to order becomes a whole thing. My first and second kid have such different tastes that picking a menu isn't easy.

This time we went back to Myeonsikdang Jiwel City (면식당 지웰시티점), a Cheongju spot our kids have always liked. From shabu pho to katsu, everyone can pick what they like, so it's become a place our family visits often. This time, even my second kid — who usually doesn't eat much pork katsu — ate happily and went home satisfied.

## Where is Myeonsikdang Jiwel City, and where do you park?

Myeonsikdang Jiwel City is at 39 Daenong-ro, LK Triplex Building A, 1st floor, Unit 101, Heungdeok-gu, Cheongju, Chungbuk. We visited on a Tuesday at 5pm — myself plus two elementary-age kids, three of us total.

We used the underground parking lot. Don't forget: you must register your parking before leaving. Make sure to do it after your meal!

When we arrived we walked straight in with no wait, but by 6pm the place was completely full. Evenings can get busy here, so keep that in mind if you're planning a visit.

## Inside Myeonsikdang Jiwel City: solo seats and family tables

The interior of Myeonsikdang Jiwel City was clean throughout, with both 2-seat and 4-seat tables available.

There were also bar-style seats by the window, which looked like a good spot for solo dining too.

Each table had a tablet for ordering, so we could browse the menu and order comfortably right from our seats. The food also came out quickly in the order we ordered, and the staff were friendly. When you're eating out with kids, waiting for food can be stressful, but this time we didn't have to wait long before we could start eating.

## Myeonsikdang menu and what three of us paid

Myeonsikdang Jiwel City has a wide range of dishes — from pho to ramen, soba, and katsu — so everyone could pick what they wanted.

This time we ordered three dishes.

- Shabu pho — ₩8,900
- House pork loin katsu — ₩10,500
- Mozzarella cheese katsu — ₩12,500

Since the pho-loving kid and the katsu-loving kid didn't have to compromise on menu, picking dishes was easy this time.

## Shabu pho: the clear, refreshing broth

Shabu pho at 8,900 won is a dish the kids already loved, so we ordered it without hesitation again.

It came with meat, bean sprouts, and rice noodles all in the bowl. Tasting the broth first, I found it refreshingly light — I liked it.

The kids didn't just eat the noodles — they ate the bean sprouts too, evenly. Usually when kids eat noodle dishes, they tend to pick out just the noodles, which can be a bit frustrating. This time, watching them eat the sprouts along with the noodles was satisfying as a mom.

Being able to enjoy the refreshing broth, noodles, and bean sprouts together made this a satisfying dish again.

## Handmade pork loin katsu the katsu-averse kid finished

The house pork loin katsu at 10,500 won comes as a set with a thick cutlet, rice, salad, sauce, and broth. My second kid hasn't been eating katsu much lately, so I wondered how this would go.

They ate the house pork loin katsu without any hesitation, and it tasted great. It came with a thick cutlet, rice, salad, sauce, and broth. I especially liked that salt was served separately for dipping the katsu.

My second kid especially loved dipping it in salt. Watching them dip the katsu into the salt was the moment I remember most from this meal.

Since it's a dish they haven't been eating much lately, I worried they might leave some, but they ate it happily, which was a pleasant surprise. Seeing them enjoy something they'd been avoiding put me in a good mood too.

## Mozzarella cheese katsu my older child would not share

The mozzarella cheese katsu at 12,500 won was the dish my first kid, who loves cheese katsu, picked.

Looking at the cross-section, the cheese was packed in generously.

Even with that much cheese, it wasn't greasy, and I enjoyed it too. But my first kid loved it so much they didn't even want me taking a single bite haha. They already love anything with cheese, but this time watching them guard their dish to the end made me laugh.

It was a dish that perfectly matched my cheese-loving first kid's taste.

## Is Myeonsikdang Jiwel City worth it for a family meal in Cheongju?

All three dishes we ordered at Myeonsikdang Jiwel City were delicious, making it hard to pick just one favorite.

The shabu pho's refreshing broth, my second kid's reaction to the house pork loin katsu, and the generous cheese in the mozzarella cheese katsu all stuck with me. Even with the kids' different tastes, being able to each pick our own dish made for a satisfying meal.
