## In short

Jeonju House is a Korean restaurant on Oncheon-ro 101beon-gil in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, serving galbi kimchi stew (pork rib and kimchi stew) and fresh pork belly grilled on a cast-iron pot lid. A family of three stopped in at 11:30 on a Sunday morning, heading back to Sejong after the Daejeon Museum of Art, and ordered two servings of the cauldron galbi kimchi stew (15,000 won) with a jumbo egg roll (10,000 won), rounded out with stone pot rice and tofu from the self-serve bar. With food served from 9am and its own parking lot, Jeonju House works well as the last stop of a family day out.

Hi everyone! This is Jeonju House, a Korean restaurant in Yuseong, Daejeon that we visited on our way back to Sejong after taking the family to the Daejeon Museum of Art on the weekend. We'd had a light breakfast since it was the weekend, so we were pretty hungry, and kimchi stew for lunch sounded perfect! The three of us headed straight there.

Looked like galbi kimchi stew and cast-iron lid fresh pork belly were their popular menu items.

## Jeonju House menu and prices

- ☑️ Cast-iron lid fresh pork belly ₩16,000
- ☑️ Cauldron galbi kimchi stew (galbi kimchi jjigae) ₩15,000
- ☑️ Jumbo egg roll ₩10,000

The sign said they use good ingredients and their own homemade kimchi in the galbi, kimchi stew, and hot pots. It also said the galbi is domestic fresh pork ribs, so I was curious how it would taste. I especially love kimchi stew, so I decided on the galbi kimchi stew the moment I saw the menu.

## Meals available from 9am, nearly full for Sunday lunch

Another thing I liked about Jeonju House is that you can eat there starting at 9am. These days there aren't that many restaurants where you can get a proper meal in the morning, so it was great that breakfast is an option here.

We visited around 11:30am on a Sunday, and true to its reputation as a Korean restaurant worth visiting in Yuseong, Daejeon, there were already a lot of customers. As lunchtime approached, more and more people kept coming in, and by the time we were eating, it was nearly full.

![Self-serve bar at Jeonju House with side dishes and tofu](https://img.superchart.com/images/jeonju-house-daejeon-yuseong-galbi-kimchi-stew/jeonju-house-daejeon-yuseong-galbi-kimchi-stew-07-mfprt-966.webp)

### Tofu even at the self-serve bar

There was a self-serve bar on one side where you could get more of any side dish you ran low on. Tofu was also available, so if you like tofu, I highly recommend putting some in your stew! Other places charge extra for tofu, but Jeonju House is really generous.

![Spacious dining hall at Jeonju House with wide tables](https://img.superchart.com/images/jeonju-house-daejeon-yuseong-galbi-kimchi-stew/jeonju-house-daejeon-yuseong-galbi-kimchi-stew-08-15ffg-966.webp)

### The dining room atmosphere

Besides the area where we sat, there was a fairly spacious dining hall off to the side. The tables weren't packed too close together, and we saw plenty of families dining as well. Even though it was really busy during Sunday lunch, the atmosphere was still comfortable for a family meal.

## What we ordered: two servings of galbi kimchi stew and a jumbo egg roll

- ✅ Galbi kimchi stew, 2 servings
- ✅ Jumbo egg roll

![Side dish spread at Jeonju House](https://img.superchart.com/images/jeonju-house-daejeon-yuseong-galbi-kimchi-stew/jeonju-house-daejeon-yuseong-galbi-kimchi-stew-10-tk7mf-966.webp)

![Stone pot rice served alongside the kimchi stew](https://img.superchart.com/images/jeonju-house-daejeon-yuseong-galbi-kimchi-stew/jeonju-house-daejeon-yuseong-galbi-kimchi-stew-11-1u141-966.webp)

Ordering the kimchi stew comes with stone pot rice on the side. Having stone pot rice with it made the meal feel really complete. Our whole family loves stone pot rice 🧡

![Large jumbo egg roll served at the table](https://img.superchart.com/images/jeonju-house-daejeon-yuseong-galbi-kimchi-stew/jeonju-house-daejeon-yuseong-galbi-kimchi-stew-12-l0336-966.webp)

And the jumbo egg roll we ordered alongside the kimchi stew! It came out quite large, living up to its name. Since the kimchi stew is a bit spicy, eating some egg roll in between helped tone down the heat and made it easy to share with our kid too.

The kimchi stew arrived bubbling away, and honestly the sight of it was hard to resist when we were already hungry.

The kimchi was fully aged and soft, and it went really well with the rice.

![Galbi rib pieces inside the kimchi stew](https://img.superchart.com/images/jeonju-house-daejeon-yuseong-galbi-kimchi-stew/jeonju-house-daejeon-yuseong-galbi-kimchi-stew-15-3r5ge-966.webp)

## How was the galbi kimchi stew?

The stew had galbi (short rib) in it, which made it feel different from a regular kimchi stew. The broth had the sharp, tangy flavor of kimchi with the rich depth of galbi added in.

Since the kimchi stew was a bit spicy, eating some egg roll in between helped balance the heat and made it easy to eat with our kid. The portion was more than enough for the three of us, and since we came in hungry, we really enjoyed it.

If you're looking for a Korean restaurant worth visiting in Yuseong, Daejeon, or a place to have a hearty meal with family, Jeonju House is worth checking out. We stopped by on our way back to Sejong after finishing up in Daejeon, and being hungry as we were, we left having had a really satisfying meal :)
