## The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch: hours and location

The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch is on the 1st floor of the Sindorim 3-cha Prugio Apartment commercial building, 435-10 Sindorim-dong, Guro-gu, Seoul. It's open Mon–Sat 11:00–22:30, and Sunday 11:00–21:30.

This Guro Station favorite is a place I honestly can't count how many times I've visited — the clean, tender jokbal and the drinking-friendly atmosphere make it my top recommendation for a Sindorim group dinner.

## Friday at 5:30pm, right after the 5pm second boil

I came in a little early on a Friday evening, arriving around 5:30pm. There's a second boil batch around 5pm, so coming around then gets you even tastier jokbal. That said, they always serve it piping hot regardless of timing.

Even in this early evening slot, the place already looked busy inside. Delivery orders kept coming in too — this is a real neighborhood favorite. I highly recommend it as a place that does jokbal exceptionally well.

## Domestic fresh trotters sold same day, lunch sets from around 10,000 won

The Jokbal Sindorim Main Branch uses domestic fresh trotters, boils them in-house, and sells only what's boiled that day. The lunch menu also has jeyuk ssambap, bossam set, sundubu-bossam set, charcoal spicy jokbal set, spicy hanwoo guksu set, and spicy sundubu set, all in the low ₩10,000s — solid for the office workers around Sindorim at lunchtime too.

## Ordering the 52,000-won front-leg half-and-half jokbal

We ordered the half-and-half jokbal with front leg, regular plus spicy, for ₩52,000. Hind leg is tasty too of course, but you can upgrade to front leg for an extra ₩3,000.

### The complimentary cold jokbal (naengchae jokbal)

The first thing served is naengchae jokbal (cold jokbal), which is actually this restaurant's signature dish. It's sold as a standalone item too, but here it comes free as a starter.

The wrap vegetables always come clean and fresh — perilla leaves, lettuce, cabbage, and peppers, along with garlic, chili, and onion, all fresh.

The dried radish kimchi and the fresh chive salad are both made in-house — tangy, with crunchy onion, and they go so well with jokbal.

Mix the cold jokbal well with the egg, jellyfish, and cucumber and it practically orders you a makgeolli.

## The soup that comes with a makgeolli order

Order a bottle of makgeolli and they bring out a soup on the side — cold bean sprout soup in summer, warm doenjang soup in winter. It's a rare treat for a jokbal place to include a soup like this, haha.

The bubbling cabbage doenjang soup was clean-tasting, not overly seasoned, with a nice kick from the cheongyang chili — really good and piping hot, haha.

## Regular vs spicy: how the half-and-half jokbal tastes

The regular jokbal at The Jokbal is so good that I always used to just order that alone, but this time I suddenly felt like trying the spicy version too, so I went half-and-half.

Half the plate was glossy, oil-sheened regular jokbal, and the other half was spicy jokbal topped with parsley flakes and cheongyang chili, looking properly fiery.

The Jokbal never disappoints. The ratio of lean meat to fat and collagen is a work of art, and the trotters are just so tender. Not chewy so much as optimized for that soft texture.

The spicy jokbal has a strong smoky char flavor, pairing perfectly with makgeolli or soju. It's sweet with just a bit of heat — enough that a real spice-wimp might wince a little. The rice cake pieces were also nice and chewy.

Alternating between the collagen-packed spicy jokbal and the regular one, a bottle of soju disappears in no time, haha.
