I came on a date with my husband; we ate a huge first round, then came to the café for round two, haha. Thankfully it was a weekday, so there were seats, but I think weekends would be busier. Let's head in, step step. The huge windows made it feel wonderfully open. It has pistachio's signature nutty, subtly sweet flavor, and that nutty richness comes through beautifully. Cakes can often taste overly sweet because of the cream or sugar, but I loved that this lemon cake felt comparatively clean and light, with lemon's fresh aroma and acidity added in. With the first bite, a gentle lemon fragrance spreads first, followed by the flavor of soft, moist cake. If you are looking for an atmospheric café in Gangnam or a great dessert spot near Sinnonhyeon Station, Upper and Under is worth adding to your list. I think it would be especially nice for two or three people to share several desserts. If you are undecided while choosing desserts at Upper and Under, try the lemon cake too.
