Billadeubeulleu Seongsu is a lovely pick for a leisurely terrace day and a fun cheese performance. This time, my boyfriend and I decided to spend a day out in Seongsu. Seongsu on weekends is seriously so packed that you come out to shop once and end up exhausted just from people-watching, so we purposely went on a weekday instead. The plan for the day was simple: on a brilliantly sunny day in Seongsu, sit on a pretty terrace, have pasta and an Americano, and spend the day leisurely. But then I looked at my boyfriend (male, 32 years old), who had become obsessed with a trendy toy called Dr. Putty. He had been kneading it for days, and eventually brought it all the way to Seongsu to keep playing with it. Kneading and kneading until it turned completely black... It was exactly my kind of coffee. A nutty aroma came through first, followed by a lightly roasty finish. ## Aligot cheese lasagna poured tableside We ordered the aligot cheese lasagna and Sicilian puttanesca pasta. The aligot cheese lasagna is one of Billadeubeulleu's signature dishes. From the moment it arrives, you cannot help taking photos, because they do not simply put the cheese on top—they pour it right at your table. The cheese streams down over the lasagna, truly like a cheese waterfall, just as its name suggests. It is the kind of visual that makes you pick up your camera immediately. 🧀 In actual reviews, this tableside performance and the long cheese pull are often mentioned as the main highlights, too. When you lift a layer of lasagna with your fork, the cheese stretches right along with it, while the tomato sauce and meaty flavor come through between the pasta sheets. The cheese has a real presence, making each bite nutty, rich, and dense. ## Puttanesca that is great to alternate with lasagna Sicilian puttanesca pasta. Puttanesca is a southern Italian-style tomato-based pasta with olives, capers, anchovies, and more. Maybe because of that, its flavor direction was a little more distinct than ordinary tomato pasta. The freshness of tomato is joined by the saltiness of olives, the sharp pop of capers, and the savory depth of anchovies, so each bite feels layered with flavor. While the lasagna is nutty, rich, and substantial, the puttanesca is comparatively salty and fresh, with a strong savory note. So I was glad we ordered both. One bite of lasagna followed by one bite of puttanesca worked so well because the flavors were so different. ## The review-event ice cream combination We had finished our food and coffee and were about to get up, but you could receive ice cream by joining the review event, so we tried ice cream as our final course. It was not just ordinary vanilla ice cream—the first bite made me think, “Oh? This really tastes like vanilla.” Then, with a little Maldon salt and olive oil on top, it had a flavor completely different from ice cream that is only sweet. It was like the so-called “Jang Wonyoung recipe,” a pinch of salt plus olive oil on ice cream, and it went together much better than I expected. Rather than somewhere to go only for food, Billadeubeulleu Seongsu is a place I especially want to recommend for a day when you want to relax on a terrace in good weather.
