Last weekend, my partner and I took a little trip to Uijeongbu to get some fresh air. After filling up on a delicious meal, we looked for something different to do in Uijeongbu and decided to give our brains an exciting workout.

Now that we’re past our mid-thirties, repeating the same café dates every day had started to feel a little boring. We heard there was an exciting place near Rodeo Street, so off we rushed, haha.

## Exit Escape Room Cafe on Uijeongbu Station Rodeo Street

Heading toward the center of Rodeo Street by Uijeongbu Station, we spotted the venue right away on the fourth floor. It is open daily from 11 AM to 10:30 PM, which makes it super easy to visit whenever.

We reserved our preferred time and theme in advance through the official website. The eerie mood started right at the entrance, and my heart was already pounding 🥹

As soon as we stepped inside, I carefully read the many event notices posted up. There were plenty of ways to save, from an early-bird discount before 1 PM on weekdays to student and cash discounts.

## An interior where waiting never gets boring

The long, corridor-style interior was incredibly clean, with a water dispenser and phone chargers nicely provided. We put our coats and bags away in a locker, then waited comfortably while looking around.

There were board games to play while we waited, so there was no chance to get bored. Then we heard guests in another room scream, “Aah!” and got such a shock, haha.

A staff member kindly explained the theme precautions and how to use the various locks. Once we had signed the user agreement promising not to spoil anything, the tension exploded.

## How scary is the Closed Ward theme?

The theme we chose was Closed Ward. It has a chilling story: you enter an old hospital that was shut down after a medical accident to investigate it alone 🏥 Thinking, “Okay, we’re really doing a Uijeongbu horror experience,” I held my partner’s hand tightly as we went in ㅠㅠ

The moment we opened our eyes, the gloomy lighting and creepy sound effects were no joke. Rather than the predictable format of endlessly opening locks, it had a high proportion of sensors and electronic devices, which felt fresh.

Instead of over-the-top jump scares, the fear slowly tightened around you, which made it perfect for solving puzzles. There were no forced, shoehorned-in problems; everything unfolded smoothly with the story, and the satisfying feeling of solving each part was amazing 💕 An hour felt like 10 minutes and disappeared in a flash, so it is a perfect fit for anyone looking for a fun Uijeongbu escape room.

## Our escape record: 1 hour and 3 minutes

It was convenient that we could quickly check hints for any stuck sections on the monitor in the room. In the end, we solved every code and safely opened the door in 1 hour and 3 minutes, haha. We went slightly over time, so sadly we missed the Starbucks coupon prize for setting a record 🥹 Still, the tightly designed effects made us feel we had found a truly great Uijeongbu escape room. Not once did it feel like a waste of money.

Afterward, we took part in a Naver receipt review, and a staff member took a lovely Polaroid photo for us. Walking out with that photo in hand left us with a satisfying memory from our date, and I felt fantastic 👍

If we had not had other plans afterward, I would have wanted to do the back-to-back package and enjoy another room straight away. I highly recommend it as a cool, thrilling indoor activity in Uijeongbu. Next time, I am definitely coming back with all my friends to conquer every other theme too, haha.
