## In short

Donggok Jemyeon Daegu Dongseong-ro Main Branch is a Korean restaurant in Jung-gu, Daegu, serving kalguksu and suyuk. We had Chogye bibim kalguksu, extra-rich chicken kalguksu, and a half portion of gabrisal suyuk, and the high chair made the meal fairly easy with a baby. Verdict: the tangy, lightly spicy Chogye bibim kalguksu was the clear winner haha.

I stopped by Donggok Jemyeon Daegu Dongseong-ro Main Branch while figuring out what to eat in Dongseong-ro, Daegu!

Because it was a kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) place, I initially went in thinking we would just have a neat, simple meal~

But the Chogye bibim kalguksu here is honestly insane… I usually love soupy kalguksu too, but this mixed kalguksu was what I remembered most from that day haha.

## Why it was okay to visit with a baby

And for anyone visiting with a baby like us! They have high chairs here! Even if a restaurant is delicious, it can be surprisingly inconvenient when there is no high chair. Donggok Jemyeon had one, so we were able to eat relatively comfortably.

![High chair at Donggok Jemyeon](https://img.superchart.com/images/daegu-dongseongro-chogye-kalguksu/daegu-dongseongro-chogye-kalguksu-07-1j1hy-900.webp)

That day, we ordered Chogye bibim kalguksu for ₩11,000, extra-rich chicken kalguksu for ₩13,000, a half portion of gabrisal suyuk for ₩10,900, and two Zero Colas for ₩5,000!

![Self-serve kimchi at Donggok Jemyeon](https://img.superchart.com/images/daegu-dongseongro-chogye-kalguksu/daegu-dongseongro-chogye-kalguksu-11-xq2yf-900.webp)

The self-serve kimchi was good. We thought two bowls of kalguksu alone might feel a little lacking, so we added a half portion of gabrisal suyuk (boiled pork).

## What did the Chogye bibim kalguksu taste like?

### Chogye bibim kalguksu ₩11,000

![Chogye bibim kalguksu](https://img.superchart.com/images/daegu-dongseongro-chogye-kalguksu/daegu-dongseongro-chogye-kalguksu-12-1qbuj-900.webp)

But everyone… if you go here, try the bibim kalguksu. This was seriously my favorite haha. It was tangy with a little heat, and the sauce clung right to the noodles—the kind of flavor that keeps your chopsticks moving! It was not just a spicy mixed-noodle flavor; it had tangy sweetness and savoriness that really woke up my appetite. Since these were kalguksu noodles, they were thicker and chewier than regular bibim guksu, and they seemed to suit the sauce even better!

After one bite, I thought, “Oh? This is delicious,” and after two bites it had basically become my dish haha. Even if I go back to Donggok Jemyeon, I think I will definitely order the Chogye bibim kalguksu again.

## Chicken kalguksu alongside the mixed kalguksu

### Extra-rich chicken kalguksu ₩13,000

![Extra-rich chicken kalguksu](https://img.superchart.com/images/daegu-dongseongro-chogye-kalguksu/daegu-dongseongro-chogye-kalguksu-13-1sjga-900.webp)

![Extra-rich chicken kalguksu meal](https://img.superchart.com/images/daegu-dongseongro-chogye-kalguksu/daegu-dongseongro-chogye-kalguksu-14-1hmai-900.webp)

![Warm extra-rich chicken kalguksu](https://img.superchart.com/images/daegu-dongseongro-chogye-kalguksu/daegu-dongseongro-chogye-kalguksu-15-1sprd-900.webp)

If the bibim kalguksu is tangy and really pulls you in, the extra-rich chicken kalguksu is the complete opposite. Its broth is rich and warm, the kind that makes you feel settled after one spoonful! The menu describes it as a dish with a rich chicken-based broth and chicken. Taking a bite of bibim kalguksu and then a spoonful of warm broth was such a good combination.

So, if two people visit, personally,

![Mixed kalguksu and soup kalguksu combination](https://img.superchart.com/images/daegu-dongseongro-chogye-kalguksu/daegu-dongseongro-chogye-kalguksu-16-10w1h-900.webp)

I recommend ordering one mixed bowl + one soup bowl. Alternating between them was much better than eating just one flavor the whole time.

## Half-portion gabrisal suyuk as a side

### Half portion gabrisal suyuk ₩10,900

![Half portion of gabrisal suyuk](https://img.superchart.com/images/daegu-dongseongro-chogye-kalguksu/daegu-dongseongro-chogye-kalguksu-17-sucsz-900.webp)

![Half portion gabrisal suyuk meal](https://img.superchart.com/images/daegu-dongseongro-chogye-kalguksu/daegu-dongseongro-chogye-kalguksu-18-1gfps-900.webp)

And the gabrisal suyuk we ordered as a side! I liked that there was a half-portion option. Sometimes you want suyuk with your kalguksu, but a whole plate feels like too much, you know?

![Kalguksu served with suyuk](https://img.superchart.com/images/daegu-dongseongro-chogye-kalguksu/daegu-dongseongro-chogye-kalguksu-19-19wgg-900.webp)

For ordering two noodle dishes and having a side alongside them like we did, the half portion was just right. A piece of suyuk with the bibim kalguksu… that combination was great too haha.

## If you are eating in Dongseong-ro with a baby

There are lots of cafés and bars around Dongseong-ro, but when you actually try to find somewhere comfortable for a meal with a baby, it can be a little tricky. Donggok Jemyeon has high chairs and approachable family-friendly dishes like kalguksu and suyuk, so it was a good place to visit with a baby.

![Meal at Donggok Jemyeon with a baby](https://img.superchart.com/images/daegu-dongseongro-chogye-kalguksu/daegu-dongseongro-chogye-kalguksu-20-10pi0-900.webp)

![Family meal dishes](https://img.superchart.com/images/daegu-dongseongro-chogye-kalguksu/daegu-dongseongro-chogye-kalguksu-21-d3tt1-900.webp)

And above all… for me, it was not the extra-rich chicken kalguksu or the suyuk—the Chogye bibim kalguksu was the overwhelming number one haha. I went just to have kalguksu and came out completely hooked on the mixed kalguksu. If you are looking for kalguksu or Korean food in Dongseong-ro, Daegu, it may be worth stopping by!

![Yogurt to finish the meal](https://img.superchart.com/images/daegu-dongseongro-chogye-kalguksu/daegu-dongseongro-chogye-kalguksu-23-2tdep-900.webp)
*Yogurt to finish it off~*

Especially if you love tangy-sweet mixed noodles like I do,

please try the Chogye bibim kalguksu. I think I will go back just for this haha. A spoonful of warm broth while eating the bibim kalguksu was the perfect combination. Adding the gabrisal suyuk made the meal feel even more complete. If two of you visit, I recommend one mixed bowl, one soup bowl, and a half portion of suyuk!
