Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch is a gyukatsu Japanese restaurant across the street from Seoul Station, in the direction of Exit 10. Once again I'd arrived at Seoul Station early for work — this time, my schedule had me there a bit ahead of time, and since a coworker and I had planned an early lunch together, we debated where to go and ended up heading toward Exit 10. The place we found was Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch, right across the street.

## Is there a wait at lunch? We drew waiting number 2

I'd looked it up before visiting, and it was already pretty well known as a Seoul Station favorite. 👍🎶 Since it's such a popular spot, I worried it might be crowded, so we arrived a bit early — but I figured, it's still early for lunch, surely it won't be that packed?? So we showed up without a reservation.

But the moment we arrived — surprise!! haha Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch already had nearly every table full. Wow!! 😱🥹😭 Even at this early hour, that many people — there's clearly a reason it's a famous Seoul Station spot. We put our names down right away and got waiting number 2.

While waiting outside, we browsed the menu. My coworker and I studied it carefully, trying to decide what to order, and we even glanced at what other diners were having, chatting about what looked good.

Luckily we didn't wait as long as I expected. After a few minutes, it was finally our turn!! And even in that short time, more people kept lining up behind us. There's clearly a reason this place is popular for lunch at Seoul Station.

I was already a little hungry from waiting outside, and that good smell pushed my hunger over the edge. My mouth was watering instantly. haha Since my coworker and I had already decided what to order while waiting outside, we ordered right as we sat down.

What we picked was Set 2 from Ichigyu Seoul Station Branch's set menus ✅. It came with sirloin gyukatsu, hamburg omurice, and two drinks. A great combination for two people having lunch together. We'd gotten hungry while waiting, so it was nice that the food came out faster than expected.

With the gyukatsu grilled to a nice golden brown, I gently placed some wasabi on top — my favorite — and took a bite!!

🎵 Needless to say, gyukatsu and wasabi together are a perfect match. ~!! 👏👏👏

I could really taste the meat itself, and eating it alongside the salad gave a whole different feel.

Grilling it myself on the mini brazier also meant I could keep the meat at just the doneness I wanted throughout the meal, which I really liked.

## The hamburg omurice, as golden as a ripe mango

Very fitting for someone who loves her rice dishes. haha

As soon as the hamburg omurice arrived, my coworker picked up her spoon and started gently digging into the rice wrapped so softly in egg.

But looking at that hamburg omurice for the first time, I had just one thought: "Whoa — this looks exactly like a perfectly ripe mango!!" lol 🫶🎶🩷🩵🧡 The visual was such a pretty, golden yellow, just like a mango. It had that look of a freshly arrived, perfectly ripe Southeast Asian mango. haha

I couldn't stop admiring how beautifully the egg was wrapped around it — it was almost too pretty to eat. 🥳😍 But food is meant to be enjoyed, so my coworker dug in eagerly too.

Eating the gyukatsu and hamburg omurice together, the combination worked really well. Being able to split the meat dish and the omurice made for a more satisfying meal for the two of us.
