# Sushi restaurant in Dongnae, Busan: Moshi Moshi Sushi sets

## Is it convenient before or after a movie or shopping?

I stopped by Moshi Moshi Sushi on the eighth-floor dining level after going to see a movie at Lotte Department Store Dongnae Branch. I parked near the mart, went up to Lotte Cinema, then crossed over to the department store dining area, where the restaurant was right in front of me and easy to find. It is located near the connection between the department store and Lotte Mart buildings, making it convenient before or after shopping or a movie.

## Are there seats for families or solo diners?

Most tables seated four to six people, and there was also counter seating, which looked suitable for dining alone. I saw many families, and there was a children's sushi set as well. I used to come here occasionally when my child was younger.

There was also room seating partially divided by partitions, which looked suitable for gatherings. The dining area had more than 10 tables for four, but it was full and had a wait when I visited at weekend lunch. Because there were so many guests, I could not photograph the whole dining area.

## What did we order for three people?

The menu combinations and prices were displayed prominently outside the restaurant, so it was easy to look over what to order. The recommended single-person set came with six pieces of sushi and salad, with a choice of udon or momil (buckwheat noodles).

We ordered Assorted Sushi B and Set No. 2 for two. Assorted Sushi B included 10 pieces of sushi, tempura, vegetable salad, tofu salad, and soup. Set No. 2 included 16 pieces of sushi, chashu (braised pork), a choice of noodle dish, vegetable salad, tofu salad, and soup; we chose udon. The three servings filled the table and felt plentiful.

## How were the sushi selection and flavors?

The platter had several types, including white fish, salmon, tuna, and tamago (sweet rolled egg). I started with the lighter sushi and finished with the sweet-savory eel sushi.

Unlike the menu I had seen before ordering, Set No. 2 came with tamago sushi. It was fluffy like castella cake, with a sweet-savory flavor. Assorted Sushi B included eel, raw shrimp, yukhoe (seasoned raw beef), tuna, halibut, salmon, and more, so I could try a range of types one by one.

Assorted Sushi B also included yukhoe sushi, which was not in the menu photo. The types of sushi were not listed separately for each menu, so I could not tell whether the selection changes. Since I do not usually prefer tamago sushi, I was disappointed that the selection differed from the menu photos and wished this had been explained when ordering.

The halibut sushi was clean-tasting and light, while I ate the salmon sushi with a smooth cream sauce and tangy sliced onion. The squid had fine knife cuts, making it tender and pleasantly chewy rather than tough. I also liked that the tuna sushi was light rather than oily.

The raw shrimp sushi was springy and chewy with a touch of sweetness. My child enjoyed the vinegar-seasoned shrimp, which had a crisp texture and sweet flavor. The eel sushi was coated in teriyaki sauce and had a subtle charred aroma from the torch. I also liked that the set included three large pieces of eel sushi.

## Can companions who like raw fish less still eat well?

The set for two came in three versions, each accompanied by albap (fish roe rice), chashu, or salmon salad. One person in my group prefers meat to raw fish, so we chose Set No. 2, which included chashu.

The chashu came with bean sprouts, green onion, and onion. The meat was tender and well seasoned with a sweet-savory sauce, with a subtle grilled aroma. It also went well with the udon we ordered. With chashu, udon, and tempura on this spread, it was easy for adults or children who like raw fish less to eat together.

## How were the set udon and side dishes?

The udon we chose with Set No. 2 contained tempura and yubu (fried tofu pouch), which made the broth nutty.

It also had fish cake, large shrimp, and mushrooms, and the broth had soaked into the noodles so the seasoning was well balanced. Even though it was included with the set, the portion felt generous. They provided a ladle and bowls, making it easy to share.

The vegetable salad had a tangy, savory dressing that was refreshing between bites. The tofu salad paired soft tofu with a rich, creamy sauce that tasted of sesame. Even my child, who does not usually like tofu, ate it well.

Assorted Sushi B included three pieces of tempura: shrimp and kabocha squash tempura. The batter was crisp, and the kabocha was cooked through and fluffy inside.
