Today I'm bringing you a review of Songjeongok Songjeong Main Branch, known as one of the go-to Korean restaurants in Songjeong. Since so many people come to Songjeong just for the beach, it's surprisingly hard to pick a good place to eat. But this spot is famous for its pot rice and full Korean set meals, so I went in with high expectations 😊

## The tiled-roof hanok building: how to spot Songjeongok

![Songjeongok sign reading "abalone hinoki set"](https://img.superchart.com/images/songjeongok-songjeong-korean-family-meal/songjeongok-songjeong-korean-family-meal-03-1kuyh-900.webp)

![Old wooden cart and stone mortar props next to the entrance](https://img.superchart.com/images/songjeongok-songjeong-korean-family-meal/songjeongok-songjeong-korean-family-meal-04-8b9t5-900.webp)

![Rows of onggi earthenware jars displayed on one side](https://img.superchart.com/images/songjeongok-songjeong-korean-family-meal/songjeongok-songjeong-korean-family-meal-05-1ia63-900.webp)

It's right on the main road of Songjeonggwangeogol-ro, so it was easy to find. The building has a tiled roof and is built with wood and stone, giving off such a strong hanok (traditional Korean house) vibe that I immediately thought, "This is the place!"

The big glass windows made it look bright and tidy even from outside, and the sign said "abalone hinoki set," so I knew right away what the signature dish was 😊 Next to the entrance there were props like an old wooden cart and a stone mortar, which made for great photos. On one side, rows of onggi (traditional earthenware) jars were lined up, setting the mood for an even more promising Korean meal 🍯

## Ground-floor hall at Songjeongok: tables, chairs, and baby chairs

![Wooden cabinet and ceramic jars at the entrance](https://img.superchart.com/images/songjeongok-songjeong-korean-family-meal/songjeongok-songjeong-korean-family-meal-06-a7ncu-900.webp)

Right when you open the door, there's an elegant wooden cabinet, ceramic jars, and a framed Korean painting on one side. It felt less like walking into a restaurant and more like stepping into a beautifully decorated hanok living room — a great mood from the entrance.

The hall has wooden rafters on the ceiling, and old baskets, oil lamps, and jar shelves hang on the walls, giving it a charming feel 🏮 The tables were roomy, ground-floor tables with chairs, so they were comfortable to sit at! Each table was set with water, paper cups, and brassware, and aprons hung on the wall too.

Further inside there's an open kitchen, and the Songjeongok logo glowed softly through the lattice lighting — really pretty ✨ Seeing the neatly prepared dishes on the counter made me even more excited. By the way, there's also a second floor, but we ate on the ground floor. The ground floor was spacious and clean, so we were happy with it too 👍

## Ordering the abalone seafood hinoki set, 23,000 won per person

After some deliberation, we ordered the abalone seafood hinoki set. The menu described it as "a premium nourishing meal packed with all of Songjeongok's flavors," so we figured if it was our first visit, this was the dish that would show us the restaurant's true colors. It's ₩23,000 per person 💰

## What comes with the set: bossam and the side dish spread

![Doenjang stew with tofu and stir-fried squid topped with scallions](https://img.superchart.com/images/songjeongok-songjeong-korean-family-meal/songjeongok-songjeong-korean-family-meal-15-f5o00-900.webp)

![Salad topped with shrimp, orange, and cherry tomatoes](https://img.superchart.com/images/songjeongok-songjeong-korean-family-meal/songjeongok-songjeong-korean-family-meal-16-1idck-900.webp)

We ordered for two, and the table came out so full we let out a "wow~"! First, bossam, side dishes, wrap greens, doenjang (soybean paste) stew, stir-fried squid, and salad all came out together, followed by the main hinoki-steamed dish 😊

In the middle sat moist boiled pork bossam, surrounded by white kimchi, kimchi, seasoned vegetables, seasoned side dishes, and tofu. Ssamjang (dipping sauce), garlic, and salted seafood also came out in separate small bowls, perfect for eating with the bossam. The wrap vegetables — napa cabbage leaves, red leaf lettuce, and peppers — were fresh, and wrapping them one by one was absolutely delicious 🥬

The savory doenjang stew had chunks of tofu, which went great with rice, and the stir-fried squid topped with a generous pile of scallions was spicy enough to really wake up the appetite. The salad with shrimp, orange, and cherry tomatoes was refreshing — perfect for cutting through the richness. Every single side dish was neatly arranged and the plates were pretty, so it felt like being treated well 🤗

## Hinoki-steamed seafood and abalone pot rice with hwangmi rice

![Abalone seafood hinoki steam served in a wooden steaming pot](https://img.superchart.com/images/songjeongok-songjeong-korean-family-meal/songjeongok-songjeong-korean-family-meal-17-166dt-900.webp)

![Yellow rice pot rice topped with abalone and scrambled egg](https://img.superchart.com/images/songjeongok-songjeong-korean-family-meal/songjeongok-songjeong-korean-family-meal-18-1dnne-900.webp)

The main hinoki-steamed dish came out in its wooden steaming pot, and the moment we opened the lid, fluffy steam rose up 🫢 On top of bean sprouts and enoki mushrooms sat plump shrimp, squid, clams, and abalone, piled high. Corn, potato, broccoli, fish cake, and shrimp balls were all in there too — the ingredients were genuinely packed in.

With seafood and vegetables steamed together, it had a clean, healthy flavor. The description "a premium nourishing meal packed with all of Songjeongok's flavors" really fit.

The yellow rice pot rice came topped with soft scrambled egg, finely chopped chives, radish sprouts, savory furikake, and abalone. Mixing it all together made it savory and filling. Scooping up the rice with the abalone and pairing it with bossam and side dishes felt like a proper full Korean meal.

## Eating it: bossam wraps, seasoned raw crab, and steamed abalone

![A bite of bossam and ssamjang wrapped in a vegetable leaf](https://img.superchart.com/images/songjeongok-songjeong-korean-family-meal/songjeongok-songjeong-korean-family-meal-19-1rko8-900.webp)

![Seasoned crab coated thick with sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/songjeongok-songjeong-korean-family-meal/songjeongok-songjeong-korean-family-meal-20-19plk-900.webp)

![A large abalone pulled from the hinoki steam](https://img.superchart.com/images/songjeongok-songjeong-korean-family-meal/songjeongok-songjeong-korean-family-meal-21-10khn-900.webp)

I put bossam on a wrap leaf, added ssamjang, garlic, and kimchi, and wrapped it up into one big bite. The meat was tender and soft, so it went down easily with the wrap — haha. It had no gamey smell at all, so it was great piled high with ssamjang.

The seasoned crab that came with it had a thick coating of sauce, so it looked like a rice thief from the moment it arrived 🦀 It seemed like it would be perfect spooned over rice! Picking the meat out was also fun.

The abalone from the hinoki-steamed dish was quite large 😳 It was steamed just chewy enough to have a satisfying bite, and the shell had a shiny mother-of-pearl look that made it seem extra fresh.

## Is Songjeongok worth it for a family meal in Busan?

This was exactly the place for when you want a proper Korean meal in Songjeong. Bossam, seasoned crab, hinoki-steamed seafood, and pot rice all came together on one table, so it really felt like "we ate well today~" 😋 The hinoki-steamed dish loaded with abalone and seafood especially stuck with me 🦐 At ₩46,000 for two, this spread felt satisfying for the price.

- Anyone looking for a family dining spot in Songjeong
- Anyone craving a hearty, nourishing Korean set meal
- Anyone who wants bossam, seafood steam, and pot rice all in one meal

Choosing where to eat out with kids is always tough, but having a full spread like this laid out made even my heart feel full. I recommend it to anyone looking for a good Korean restaurant in Songjeong! Next time I'd like to try other menu items too 😊
