## In short

Imga-ne Ureong Ssambap is a Korean restaurant in Dong-gu, Daegu, near Palgongsan. I visited with my parents and ordered one serving of boiled pork and two servings of grilled mackerel with ureong ssamjang and stone-pot rice. A satisfying ssambap lunch after a Palgongsan drive.

After a drive around Palgongsan, I was craving a hearty Korean meal for the first time in a while, so I stopped by here. There are so many good restaurants around Palgongsan that I debated what to eat, but that day I chose ssambap—rice and fillings wrapped in fresh leafy vegetables—for a clean, satisfying meal. The place I visited was Imga-ne Ureong Ssambap. It was the three of us: my parents and me.

## Imga-ne Ureong Ssambap location and parking

The address is B Building, 1F, 126 Seochon-ro, Dong-gu, Daegu, South Korea, and it is open daily from 10:30 to 20:00.

There was a large parking lot right in front of the restaurant.

## The exterior I spotted during our Palgongsan drive

After parking, we headed inside.

## A pleasant interior with group seating

The interior was pleasant and tidy. There was group seating too, so it looked like a good option for gatherings or meals with a big family. I also liked that the utensils came in individual sleeves.

## Ordering the ssambap menu by tablet

It was convenient to order from the tablet at the table. There were lots of delicious-looking choices, including seokgalbi grilled beef ribs, herbal boiled pork, charcoal-grilled bulgogi, and mackerel.

There were plenty of side dishes and alcoholic drinks to have with the meal too. That day, I ordered one serving of boiled pork and two servings of mackerel.

## Neatly served banchan

The banchan, or Korean side dishes, arrived after we ordered, all neatly and cleanly presented. They also gave us a plate for wraps with the side dishes, so I took it over to the vegetable self-service bar.

## What is at the wrap-vegetable self-service bar?

It was full of a variety of fresh vegetables, including lettuce and bok choy.

I liked the range of wrap vegetables. I brought back as much of the vegetables I wanted to eat as I could manage.

## A full spread of one boiled pork and two mackerel servings

Our order arrived, and since ureong ssamjang—seasoned freshwater snails in a dipping paste—and stone-pot rice came as standard, it made for a very generous table spread.

The boiled pork was tender and great with the ureong ssamjang, but it was tasty on its own too. The mackerel was crisp outside and moist inside, so I think it would be a nice choice for anyone who loves grilled fish.

I liked that the ureong ssamjang came individually for each person. It was packed with freshwater snails, so there was a nice chew to it, and it went so well piled onto wrap vegetables with rice. Seaweed soup came with it too, perfect for sipping down. When I lifted the lid on the stone-pot rice, it was multigrain rice. The freshly cooked warm rice was delicious with the ureong ssamjang.

![Nurungji made by adding water to the stone-pot rice](https://img.superchart.com/images/daegu-palgongsan-ureong-ssambap/daegu-palgongsan-ureong-ssambap-21-1ut2q-966.webp)

At the end, I poured water into the stone pot and had nurungji, the toasted rice crust, and it really felt like I had eaten a proper, hearty lunch. Ordering the boiled pork and mackerel together gave us more combinations to enjoy with the wraps than choosing just one dish. If you are looking for a Korean restaurant around Palgongsan where you can have rice, side dishes, and wrap vegetables together, I think it is a good place to visit. Ureong ssamjang and stone-pot rice are the basics, and you can add boiled pork, mackerel, or other choices to suit your taste, so it looked suitable for families or larger groups too.

## Dessert drinks after the nurungji

For a final dessert, there were several drinks, including coffee, chaga mushroom tea, and sikhye, a sweet rice drink, so I enjoyed whichever one I felt like.

## How was it for a Palgongsan ssambap lunch?

I would recommend Imga-ne Ureong Ssambap when you want a hearty lunch or ssambap near Palgongsan. I ordered boiled pork and mackerel together that day, so everyone could choose according to their own taste. It made the meal feel even more plentiful. On a day when I wanted a Palgongsan drive followed by a solid Korean meal, Imga-ne Ureong Ssambap let me enjoy ureong ssamjang and stone-pot rice along with boiled pork and mackerel.
