## In short

Ppeol is a seasonal seafood bar near Garosu-gil in Gangnam, Seoul. Stopping by around 8pm for a second round after dinner, the writer paired the scallop, beef brisket and chamnamul salad combo with Jinro soju and beer, alternating between the clean scallops, savory brisket and fresh salad. It was a great spot to keep the night going slowly with seafood after a first-round meal.

## A second-round seafood bar near Garosu-gil

After finishing dinner, I stopped by Ppeol (뻘) around 8pm for a second round. I was looking for a place near Sinsa Station's Garosu-gil where I could enjoy seafood dishes with drinks.

![Entrance to Ppeol, a bar located on the basement floor](https://img.superchart.com/images/sinsa-station-seafood-pub-beol/sinsa-station-seafood-pub-beol-02-14pmh-966.webp)

Ppeol is a seafood bar that features seasonal menus built around fresh seafood straight from the source. That day I ordered the scallop and beef brisket combo along with Jinro soju and beer, easing into a slower second round after the first.

## Centered on seasonal seafood

Ppeol builds its menu around whatever seafood is in season. They say they cook without seasoning or additives so the ingredients' own flavors can shine, using fresh seafood brought in straight from the source.

The available menu can change depending on the season and what's coming in from the source, and dishes can sell out early if the day's ingredients run out — so it's fun to see what's on offer the day you visit.

## Starting with kimchi and fried egg

While waiting for our order, house-fried kimchi and a fried egg came out as basic side dishes.

Since we'd already eaten during the first round, I wasn't planning to order much food to start with, but having simple basic dishes to nibble on made it easy to start with soju and beer first.

They also worked well as a light bite while waiting for the main dish.

## The scallop and beef brisket combo

The main dish I chose that day was the scallop and beef brisket combo (키조개관자 차돌 삼합). It combines scallop, beef brisket, and dressed chamnamul (wild chervil salad), so a single plate offered different flavors and textures to enjoy.

It wasn't just seafood — the beef brisket made it fairly hearty for a second-round dish, and with the chamnamul salad added, it was great for alternating between scallop and meat.

### The scallops were clean and mild

The scallops were nice to eat with a clean flavor and soft texture rather than anything heavily seasoned. Even eaten together with the brisket, the scallop flavor wasn't overpowered, and eating the scallop alone versus as part of the combo felt different.

Since it was seafood eaten after a first round, it didn't feel heavy, and it was nice to eat slowly with a glass of soju alongside.

### The beef brisket made it more filling

The beef brisket added a savory flavor clearly different from the scallop. Rather than eating the mild scallop continuously, mixing in the brisket created a change of flavor that kept me reaching for more.

Eating the scallop and brisket together in one bite let me taste the characteristics of both seafood and meat at once, and it paired well with beer too.

### The chamnamul salad rounded it out

The dressed chamnamul salad added a fresh note between the scallop and the brisket.

Adding the chamnamul while the brisket's savoriness lingered gave a clean finish, and eating it together with the scallop made the difference between the three ingredients even clearer.

The combo concept came through more clearly when I ate the chamnamul salad together with the scallop and brisket, rather than just the two by themselves.

## Jinro soju and beer alongside

That day we ordered Jinro soju and beer together. I'd have a piece of scallop with a shot of soju, and sip beer when eating the savory brisket.

Since we'd already finished a first round, alternating between the three ingredients and drinking slowly rather than rushing suited the mood of the evening well.

## Why an 8pm second round worked

Visiting around 8pm for a second round, I liked that the scallop and beef brisket combo let us share a little of several ingredients from one plate.

Even without being very hungry, I could alternate between scallop, brisket, and chamnamul salad while sipping soju and beer, making for a relaxed way to pass the time.

It was a good choice when looking for seafood dishes near Sinsa Station after a first-round meal. The seafood was fresh and the chamnamul was fragrant — a really good dish to go with drinks. The receipt reviews are fun too, haha.^^

## The scallop and beef brisket combo for round two

When you want to keep enjoying seafood and drinks after a first round near Sinsa Station, Ppeol's scallop and beef brisket combo fits well. The clean scallop, savory brisket, and fresh chamnamul salad could be alternated on one plate without leaning too heavily on any single flavor, and pairing it with Jinro soju and beer made for a slow, enjoyable time. It was a Sinsa Station seafood bar whose mood and menu matched perfectly with a second-round visit. I'd strongly recommend this as a second-round spot.^^
