## In short

Nahonsha is a solo-pot shabu-shabu restaurant in Mapo, Seoul, between Hapjeong and Sangsu stations. We ordered tomato broth and spicy broth with fried tofu, rice, and potato sujebi dough flakes. Nahonsha is a lovely pick for a quiet meal alone or a gathering.

## Nahonsha between Hapjeong and Sangsu, with a pot for every diner

It sits right between Hapjeong Station and Sangsu Station, so it was so easy to get to from either one!

The exterior already had such a great atmosphere that I was really excited!! I’ll show you the inside too, but it is so, so atmospheric—an absolutely wonderful spot for an anniversary or gathering, haha.

## Shabu-shabu with tomato or spicy broth, chosen to your taste

There are so many shabu-shabu choices too!! From clear broth and spicy broth to miso and even sukiyaki!! Places that do sukiyaki well are not that common, you know, haha. I was so happy they had my favorite tomato broth too. We ordered the spicy broth and tomato broth, then added fried tofu, steamed rice, and potato sujebi (hand-torn dough flakes) as extras 🥰

The interior has such a great atmosphere too, right? Nahonsha is wonderful because it combines a truly elegant feel with reasonable prices!

It was very quiet inside, with space between the tables, so it was lovely to eat privately. There are plants all around too, making it feel a little like dining in a garden, haha. I know I keep saying it, but it really did feel like eating in a garden and being treated to a meal—such a great place for friends getting together over wedding invitations or for a family gathering!

Such a pretty view outside ✨

## What are the table induction cookers and kiosk ordering like?

I think having an induction cooker at every seat, so you can have the broth you want, is such a huge advantage! If you like trying different broths like at Haidilao Hot Pot, I think you would really love Nahonsha too!

You can order and pay at the kiosk in front of your seat! You do not need to call over a staff member, and you can order things like aprons and wet wipes there too, which was so convenient!

I try not to use disposable products much, and Nahonsha happened to have paper wet wipes?!! I thought it was so nice that they paid attention to even these thoughtful details, haha.

## Flavorful tomato broth and clean-tasting spicy broth

The tomato broth came out soon after we ordered!! A staff member carefully poured it so the broth would not splash!! The staff were all truly kind too!! Don’t the vegetables, fried tofu, and mushrooms look so delicious?! There are surprisingly lots of vegetables!! The tofu-looking things are fish balls, hehe.

They set everything up right away and brought the meat straight out too! Our perfect shabu-shabu was complete, haha. To eat, set the induction cooker to level 5, then once the broth boils, adjust the setting to your preference!!

I always put in the vegetables first, so that is what I did, then tried the vegetables once they cooked quickly! I love tomato broth because its savory depth is so good, and Nahonsha’s tomato broth was especially delicious too~! It had just the right amount of savory richness, and the broth came together so well with the fried tofu, meat, and vegetables! It almost seemed to bring out a fuller meaty aroma than eating the meat on its own!

Having a bubbling pot right in front of you and being able to eat as you please is such a plus too~! My friends like adding meat as they go (so do I, haha), while some people like putting all the meat in at once and cooking it through thoroughly~! Being able to eat according to each person’s style was another huge advantage, haha. I went to so many hot-pot places like this while I was an exchange student, so it felt familiar to me (if anything, these individual hot-pot places are even more comfortable!). This place was set up just as well as the local ones, so I really liked it, haha.

That glistening tomato-broth shabu-shabu, haha. Even cooking and eating the kabocha squash was so delicious!!

This is the method I mentioned—briefly dipping the meat before eating it—and it makes the meat more tender and delicious!! Nahonsha has two sauces plus a soy sauce too, so you can enjoy lots of variations! My boyfriend had the spicy broth and said it was the best spicy broth he has ever had! I tried it too, and first of all, I loved that it was moderately spicy (not too hot!). It was spicy but still felt clean, with a crisp finish, which made it even better! There was barely any lingering burn at the end, so even spice wimps like me could enjoy this spicy broth so much! Personally, I think it would be amazing made into juk (rice porridge), haha.

My top pick is dipping everything in soy sauce!! I highly, highly recommend the tomato broth plus soy sauce combination, haha. The barley tea was wonderfully strong and delicious too, haha. Nahonsha really takes care of even the little details, so I liked it so much!

## Finishing with fried tofu, potato sujebi, and kalguksu

This is the fried tofu we ordered as an extra!! Even after boiling for quite a while, it held its shape well, and although it had soaked up some of the tomato broth, it was still so delicious~! The potato sujebi we ordered as another extra was tender and wonderfully chewy too, haha.

We finished the meal with kalguksu (knife-cut noodles)~! The ending was perfect too, and although I am a light eater (?), there was more food than I expected, so I left feeling full, haha.

Finally, Nahonsha’s gorgeous view~~ Having such high-quality shabu-shabu here has already made me want to go back ㅠㅠ Nahonsha is perfect for a gathering or a wedding-invitation get-together!! It is also so good for a solo meal, so definitely give it a visit!
