We went on another family trip this month! We figured our dog Danchu could use a proper rest in the evening, so we decided to get food to go and eat at our accommodation. While thinking about where to go, I found a Gangneung mulhoe (raw fish cold soup) spot right in front of Gyeongpodae Beach, so I wanted to introduce it to you^^

Samsami-ne is located right in front of Gyeongpodae Beach! The address is 451 Changhae-ro, B-dong 28, Gangneung, and it's open from 11:30 to 23:00. It's closed every Wednesday, so keep that in mind before you visit~

We visited to get sashimi to go, and the restaurant was really cleanly kept, plus the owner and staff were so kind that we had a pleasant time even for that short visit! We made a reservation through Naver and arrived on time, so we didn't wait long and got our takeout quickly~

## What comes in the 70,000 won assorted sashimi and mulhoe takeout set?

After some thought we ordered the budget assorted sashimi + mulhoe set, which comes with assorted sashimi, mulhoe, sushi rice, seasoned vegetables, and basic sides! It was packed so neatly that carrying it back to our accommodation was really easy^^

This is the budget assorted sashimi + mulhoe combo we ordered! It was ₩70,000, and I was surprised at how generous the portions were. It was plenty for two, and they gave us a good amount of basic sides too, which made it taste even better haha

It seems the budget assorted sashimi selection changes each time, and on the day we visited we got red sea bream yubiki! That happened to be a dish I was curious about, so I was even more excited. Doesn't the mulhoe look super refreshing with the ice flecked on top?

They also gave us two portions each of the seasoned vegetables and basic sides, so we had more than enough, plus sushi rice to make our own sushi and mulhoe noodles too! I'd been curious about this Gangneung sashimi restaurant for a while, and the portions really were great.

## What is red sea bream yubiki?

Red sea bream yubiki is made by lightly pouring hot water over the skin side of the raw fish slices to partially cook it! Only the skin gets lightly cooked, which adds a chewy texture, so it was nice to enjoy something a bit different~

The fish itself was really fresh and chewy, so it was delicious on its own! Pairing it with the seasoned vegetables they included added a crunchy texture too.

## Samsami-ne's mulhoe: good enough to win over a mulhoe skeptic

It's a famous Gangneung mulhoe spot, so it would be a shame not to try the mulhoe! I'm actually not a big fan of mulhoe in general, but Samsami-ne's really was delicious. The broth was tangy-sweet with a nutty note from the bean powder, and it was great for cooling off~ Samsami-ne definitely earns its reputation as a top Gangneung mulhoe spot!!

Eating the chewy sashimi, crunchy vegetables, and noodles in that cool, tangy-sweet broth was so good! I even added in the leftover seasoned vegetables from the set later, which made a fresh new bowl of mulhoe — we ended up stuffed haha

They also included mini portions of sushi rice~ Dabbing on a bit of wasabi and topping it with a piece of red sea bream was absolute heaven! Making your own sushi was genuinely fun^^

Overall this was a delicious meal from a Gyeongpo-area Gangneung sashimi restaurant, so next time I want to try eating in-store too~! It's right across from Gyeongpodae Beach, so it's great for a meal with an ocean view, and perfect for a little walk along the sea breeze afterward haha. If you're planning a trip with family or a partner, definitely check it out.

I'd been curious about Samsami-ne for a while since it always comes up first when you search for the best Gangneung mulhoe restaurant! Sure enough, the sashimi was so fresh that it was delicious no matter how we ate it. Plus the staff were so kind that it makes me want to go back~
