## In short

Yongchon Gogi-jip is a fresh and marinated pork galbi (rib) restaurant on Yongwon-ro in Toseong-myeon, Goseong, Gangwon, about 20 minutes by car from Rene Blue by Sol Beach. Arriving at 5:30 p.m. on a Tuesday with a stroller and a baby, the writer ordered two servings of hand-filleted fresh galbi, one serving of marinated galbi, naengmyeon (cold noodles) and a complimentary gyeranjjim (steamed egg). Parking in the yard is easy and the baby happily chewed on a rib bone, making Yongchon Gogi-jip worth a return trip for a family meal.

Staying at Renaissance Blue by Sol Beach in Goseong, there was honestly nothing much around — the raw fish restaurants were all over ₩100,000, and I was craving meat instead, so I looked around and ended up at Yongchon Gogi-jip.

This was actually a place I'd spotted on Instagram Reels a while back as a Goseong meat restaurant recommendation!!

It took about 20 minutes by car, but it was totally worth it — here's my review. If you're staying at Renaissance Blue, I highly recommend it...

## Where is Yongchon Gogi-jip and when is it open?

Yongchon Gogi-jip is located at 20-3 Yongwon-ro, Toseong-myeon, Goseong-gun, Gangwon, and you can park right in front of the restaurant. Hours are 11:00–21:00, closed Wednesdays, with a break time from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, so keep that in mind 👐

The yard is spacious so parking was really easy. Inside there are also private rooms, and since it was around 5:30 PM on a Tuesday, there were plenty of open seats.

## The menu at Yongchon Gogi-jip: galbi or pork belly

The Yongchon Gogi-jip menu is simple! Galbi or pork belly!!

Since it's hand-cut galbi, my expectations were high. I personally love fresh galbi, so I ordered two servings of it.

Honestly, pork galbi can taste similar wherever you go, but the flavor difference between places can actually be pretty significant, so I visited with half expectation and half worry — but the first impression was better than I thought. The restaurant was pretty clean and the tables weren't cramped, so it was comfortable to eat in. As always, walking into a meat restaurant and catching that faint smell of grill and meat in the air just triggers your appetite haha

## Is Yongchon Gogi-jip easy with a stroller and a baby?

Since the baby was asleep, we brought the stroller in and sat in a corner spot.

After ordering the pork galbi and waiting, the side dishes started coming out one by one. The banchan (side dishes) were a perfect match for the galbi — good ones to pair with the meat — so I kept picking at them, and before I knew it my stomach was filling up a little. Still, today's mission was pork galbi, so it was time to get grilling.

The meat looked completely fresh. The egg custard also came as a complimentary side, and we ordered naengmyeon (cold noodles) to go with it.

## Two servings of fresh galbi, then one of marinated galbi

Started grilling!! It was genuinely so good haha, we polished off two servings and ordered one more of marinated galbi.

They swapped the grill plate for us, and the pork galbi looked so appetizing. The moment the meat hit the grill, that delicious smell wafted up right away, and honestly that's when I got even hungrier. The marinade wasn't just overly sweet, which I liked. It was sweet and salty in the right balance and had soaked well into the meat, and grilling it golden brown made the outside slightly crispy while staying juicy inside — really tasty.

While the marinated galbi was cooking, since there was a fresh galbi rib bone, I gave it to the baby, who ate it up so well.

Nom nom nom

## Extra rice and naengmyeon to finish

As we ate, we naturally said meat has to be paired with rice, so we ordered extra rice. And even though our stomachs were already fairly full, it was surprising how there was still room when the naengmyeon arrived haha. Topping the noodles with a piece of meat and eating them together — that combo never fails.

The marinated galbi was also seriously good haha. Pork galbi especially needs good timing on the grill, since overcooking it can make it tough quickly, so I kept flipping it carefully. Once I had a perfectly cooked piece, the marinade flavor was just right and the meat itself was tender — very satisfying. It was delicious plain, and just as good wrapped in lettuce with garlic and other toppings, so I kept reaching for more.

## Final verdict on Yongchon Gogi-jip in Goseong

Overall, it felt like I'd finally had a proper pork galbi meal after a long time. It wasn't overly sweet or salty, so it was easy to keep eating without feeling weighed down, and everything from the meat to the side dishes was satisfying. Above all, the atmosphere while eating was comfortable, so I think it'd be a good spot for family meals or grilling meat with friends too.

These days, going around eating good food is one of my little joys, and that day, eating pork galbi felt like a proper recharge. Next time I'd like to try other menu items too, so if I'm ever back in Goseong, I think I'll visit again. I'll probably come back whenever I'm craving pork galbi out of nowhere :)
