## What should a group order to share at Gossi's?

This time I ordered mul-makguksu, spicy sundubu, flying fish roe buckwheat gimbap, perilla oil makguksu, and gondre buckwheat pancake. If you're going with several people, I'd recommend ordering a variety rather than sticking to one dish. Each menu item has a totally different mood, so it was fun tasting a bit of everything.

### Mul-makguksu: clean, cold broth over buckwheat noodles

First up, the mul-makguksu had a clean, refreshing flavor that really delivered on the cool, light taste you'd expect from makguksu in Gangneung — especially good on a hot day. It wasn't just intensely seasoned; the noodles and broth balanced out comfortably, so my chopsticks kept going back without any heaviness. Anyone looking for a good makguksu restaurant in Gangneung should consider stopping by.

### Perilla oil makguksu: nutty aroma through every strand

And the one I was personally most looking forward to — perilla oil makguksu! The distinctive nutty aroma of perilla oil blended well with the noodles, giving it a completely different charm from the mul-makguksu. Same category of noodles, totally different feel, so it was fun ordering both and comparing them. If you like nutty flavors, I'd especially recommend the perilla oil makguksu.

### Spicy sundubu: the hot dish that pairs with cold makguksu

The spicy sundubu couldn't be skipped either. Soft tofu with a spicy broth made for a warming bite, and pairing it with the makguksu worked surprisingly well. Most people think of Chodang sundubu when they think of Gangneung, but if you're looking for a proper sundubu dish while traveling, this spicier style was also great. Worth mentioning to anyone searching for a good sundubu restaurant in Gangneung.

### Flying fish roe buckwheat gimbap: the side that pops

The flying fish roe buckwheat gimbap (seaweed rice roll) I ordered as a side was also fun. Unlike regular gimbap, this one used buckwheat, which felt different, and the popping texture of the flying fish roe kept me reaching for more. It went well with the makguksu and also worked as a simple side on its own. Not a menu item you see often these days, so it's a good fit for anyone who likes buckwheat gimbap or wants to try something new.

The gondre buckwheat pancake was light yet nutty, making it a nice thing to nibble on between other dishes. If you don't want to stop at just makguksu, or if you're visiting with several people, this is a good side dish to order and share.

Overall, the menu is varied enough that it works well for a family visit or a trip with friends. I liked that it's not just a makguksu place — you can also enjoy sundubu, buckwheat gimbap, and buckwheat pancake together.

I'd especially recommend this to anyone who wants to try a wider variety of dishes instead of just chasing the tourist-famous spots in Gangneung. If you're searching for a local favorite or a Gangneung restaurant and trying to decide where to go, this is worth adding to your list.

The location is also convenient if you're looking for lunch near Gangmun Beach, and it's a good place to fill up properly before continuing your trip. With a varied menu, it's easy for a group with different tastes to each pick what they want.

This time I mainly tried the mul-makguksu, perilla oil makguksu, and spicy sundubu, but next time I come back to Gangneung I want to try more of the menu. The perilla oil makguksu especially stuck with me — a memorable dish if you like nutty flavors.
