On a nice day in September, after work, a friend and I wandered over to Euljiro and ended up at a great-vibe whiskey bar near Euljiro3-ga station: Moss.

### First impressions of the whisky bar Moss

A small space with two chefs. The blue lighting was mysterious, and one whole wall filled with whiskey and traditional liquor bottles cranked up the interior mood — it made me think, 'this is a good place for a drink,' and my mood lifted right away.

The soft lighting was great for conversation, and at the time I visited, the four-person table was full of women, and the bar seats — including us — were also filled with women, so it had exactly the vibe and mood women would love.

At Moss, I'd recommend the smooth Balvenie 12 for whiskey beginners. It's soft overall, with a sweet vanilla note upfront and a gentle oak finish at the end — good for a first taste of whiskey.

Macallan 12 is a bit stronger than the Balvenie 12. You could really taste the whiskey — heavier, with the sweetness of dried fruit and a brighter orange-like aroma alongside the deep flavor of the whiskey itself.

They paired surprisingly well with the whiskey. I was skeptical at first, but the salty, refreshing, crunchy greens cut through the strong whiskey flavor — the whiskey-and-namul combo turned out to be really fresh.

The vibe is just so good~~ The quiet atmosphere inside makes the drinks go down smoothly~~ The soft lighting is great for tasting strong whiskey, and you can really appreciate the flavor. The chef recommended traditional liquor and whiskey that even I, who doesn't know much about drinks, could enjoy without any pressure — if you don't know what to pick, definitely ask for a recommendation.

## Moss's signature dish: seasonal sashimi ceviche

Ceviche is a dish where fish or seafood is marinated in citrus juice like lemon or lime, so the acid essentially 'cooks' it. Moss's signature seasonal sashimi ceviche — with what looked like flounder — plus orange and grapefruit gave off a fragrant, refreshing flavor that really cuts through the strong taste of whiskey. Highly recommend.

Eating it alongside whiskey, the strong alcohol flavor in my mouth turned into that bright fruity freshness — I loved that transformation.

Big chunks of fruit, big chunks of sashimi. It was our second round so we weren't planning to fill up, but the food quality was just too good. The sashimi was fresh, and the flavor combination was excellent.

Kigin Tiger is another one you can try at whiskey bar Moss in Euljiro. It pairs well with tart, refreshing seafood dishes like ceviche. I'd never heard of the brand before, but it's apparently known as Korean whiskey, so I ordered it out of curiosity — turned out to be surprisingly smooth.

Sipping two glasses each of 40-proof liquor while chatting away, suddenly it was almost time to head home. We said we'd only have one drink because the vibe was so nice, and ended up with two each, tasting all four drinks along the way — but nothing felt excessive, just a gentle, enjoyable way to drink whiskey. It's technically a whiskey bar but has the feel of a Korean tavern, with such a great atmosphere that our two hours there were filled with good vibes — Moss, a great-vibe whiskey bar near Euljiro3-ga station.
