The spread included seafood, fried snow crab, squid sashimi, mulhoe (cold spicy raw-fish soup), salad, rice cakes, and more, but the mulhoe was especially delicious. Since we were in Sokcho, I had been wondering whether we should have mulhoe for lunch the next day, but Palpal Hoesenta's mulhoe was so good that it settled the question for me. My parents and aunt also marveled that this place really knew how to make mulhoe. There were about 25 to 30 pieces, pleasantly chewy and delicious either on their own or wrapped in ssam (leaf wraps). It was served free because we had reserved in advance, and it looked exciting even before we tasted it. A spoonful of fried rice followed by a sip of red snow crab ramen broth made me think, this is happiness. Being at Daepo Port also gave us that seaside feeling, and parking was convenient.
