## In short

Kosi Seoul National University Entrance Branch is a Sanuki udon and handmade tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet) restaurant in Gwanak, Seoul, the newest branch of the shop known for long queues in Konkuk University and Seongsu. On a weekday evening, after a wait, the tori-ten bukkake udon set (16,000 won) and the half-and-half katsu set (17,000 won) came out, and the pork loin cutlet tasted full even with just salt or wasabi instead of sauce. Between the chewy udon noodles and the stretchy cheese katsu, Kosi is worth a return visit.

It's been so long since I found a truly delicious tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet) place that I'm genuinely excited haha. That famous Sanuki udon and handmade tonkatsu spot everyone lines up for in Konkuk and Seongsu — Kosi — just opened a new branch near Seoul National University Entrance Station! I'd only heard about it until now, so I finally went to check it out 🙌

## Where Kosi is and how long the weekday evening wait was

Kosi Seoul National University Entrance Branch sits on a corner spot at 466 Bongcheon-ro, 101ho, Gwanak-gu, Seoul, near Seoul National University Entrance Station. It's open 11:00–20:50, with a break time from 15:00 to 17:00.

The Kosi sign sits large on the corner spot. Even on a weekday evening, the place was packed with people!

Couples, families, solo diners — all kinds of people showed up even on a weekday evening, enough that there was a wait. I guess that just proves it's a tried-and-true favorite haha.

## Ordering at Kosi's table kiosk

You order and pay all at once through the table kiosk! It cut down waiting time and was really convenient.

### Inside the Kosi dining room

![Wood-toned interior of Kosi Seoul National University Entrance Branch](https://img.superchart.com/images/kosi-seoul-nat-univ-tonkatsu-wasabi-salt/kosi-seoul-nat-univ-tonkatsu-wasabi-salt-03-19jes-900.webp)

A clean wood-toned interior that felt cozy and settled! Every table was full when we arrived. We ordered the half-and-half katsu set, which comes with kake udon, and the tori-ten bukkake udon set!

![Self-serve corner with sesame, shichimi, and salad sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/kosi-seoul-nat-univ-tonkatsu-wasabi-salt/kosi-seoul-nat-univ-tonkatsu-wasabi-salt-04-1slgc-900.webp)

Sesame, shichimi (Japanese seven-spice), and a tangy salad sauce are all available to help yourself to.

## Tori-ten bukkake udon set, 16,000 won

I ordered the tori-ten bukkake udon set, which comes with tonkatsu (₩16,000). Kosi's udon noodles are thick and chewy enough to have appeared on a Korean TV show about skilled craftsmen!

![Bukkake udon set served with a gourd-shaped broth pot](https://img.superchart.com/images/kosi-seoul-nat-univ-tonkatsu-wasabi-salt/kosi-seoul-nat-univ-tonkatsu-wasabi-salt-07-iqb8a-900.webp)

The broth comes in a pretty little gourd-shaped pot that you pour over yourself! Add the grated radish, chopped scallion, and tempura crumbs that come alongside, and it's complete.

I always eat the salad first as a palate cleanser, and Kosi's cabbage salad sauce was especially good! It has a bright lemony note along with a little kick. Even the salad alone felt a cut above other places, so I was already excited before the main dish arrived haha.

Squeezing a lemon wedge in before eating made it even more refreshing and zesty! That's the kind of thoughtful touch I love.

![Pouring broth from the gourd pot over the bukkake udon](https://img.superchart.com/images/kosi-seoul-nat-univ-tonkatsu-wasabi-salt/kosi-seoul-nat-univ-tonkatsu-wasabi-salt-10-9iwb4-900.webp)

There's the fun of pouring the broth from the little gourd pot yourself! The cool broth swept away any lingering heat.

![A generous pile of thick tori-ten fried chicken](https://img.superchart.com/images/kosi-seoul-nat-univ-tonkatsu-wasabi-salt/kosi-seoul-nat-univ-tonkatsu-wasabi-salt-11-1o5jt-900.webp)

Piled high with tori-ten (fried chicken)! Just looking at it made me hungry. It looked thick, crispy, and honestly so satisfying, don't you think?

![Sanuki udon noodles lifted with chopsticks](https://img.superchart.com/images/kosi-seoul-nat-univ-tonkatsu-wasabi-salt/kosi-seoul-nat-univ-tonkatsu-wasabi-salt-12-4s1ad-900.webp)

That plump, chewy texture unique to Sanuki-style noodles! Just one bite filled my mouth completely. This place really knows tonkatsu too. The loin meat was tender, and the breadcrumbs still had that nutty aroma, so every bite made me happier.

![Cross-section of Kosi's pork loin tonkatsu](https://img.superchart.com/images/kosi-seoul-nat-univ-tonkatsu-wasabi-salt/kosi-seoul-nat-univ-tonkatsu-wasabi-salt-13-10ffl-900.webp)

Crispy outside, juicy inside! The meat's juices were still fully intact.

![Inari sushi served with the set meal](https://img.superchart.com/images/kosi-seoul-nat-univ-tonkatsu-wasabi-salt/kosi-seoul-nat-univ-tonkatsu-wasabi-salt-14-ufyvg-900.webp)

The inari sushi (fried tofu pouch rice) that came with it was also a sweet-and-tangy treat :) I loved the surprise of an unexpected side dish haha.

![A piece of tonkatsu topped with sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/kosi-seoul-nat-univ-tonkatsu-wasabi-salt/kosi-seoul-nat-univ-tonkatsu-wasabi-salt-15-13dd1-900.webp)

A light drizzle of sauce brought out even more savory depth! My friend, who ate it with just salt, said the tonkatsu tasted even better that way. That just shows how solid the fundamentals are, even without sauce — it was really delicious!!!

## Half-and-half katsu set, 17,000 won: cheese katsu and pork loin katsu

![Half-and-half katsu set with cheese katsu and pork loin katsu](https://img.superchart.com/images/kosi-seoul-nat-univ-tonkatsu-wasabi-salt/kosi-seoul-nat-univ-tonkatsu-wasabi-salt-16-1vz2i-900.webp)

My friend ordered the half-and-half katsu set, split between cheese katsu and pork loin katsu! It comes with kake udon too, so it's a really filling meal, hehe.

The sight of natural cheese stretching out in long strands made us happy just looking at it, and it tasted just as good. The cheese didn't break apart, so it stayed nutty and delicious!

![Cross-section of cheese katsu showing cheese packed throughout the meat](https://img.superchart.com/images/kosi-seoul-nat-univ-tonkatsu-wasabi-salt/kosi-seoul-nat-univ-tonkatsu-wasabi-salt-18-zh5c9-900.webp)

The cheese was packed all the way through the meat, so every bite exploded with cheesy richness. The way the cheese kept stretching with every bite was really impressive, hehe!

![A piece of pork loin katsu topped with wasabi](https://img.superchart.com/images/kosi-seoul-nat-univ-tonkatsu-wasabi-salt/kosi-seoul-nat-univ-tonkatsu-wasabi-salt-19-19zfe-900.webp)

A little dab of wasabi really brought everything together and made it taste even better. Personally, I thought Kosi's tonkatsu was best with wasabi ☺️ The savory fried breadcrumbs and the juicy loin were just so good.

![Warm kake udon served alongside the half-and-half katsu set](https://img.superchart.com/images/kosi-seoul-nat-univ-tonkatsu-wasabi-salt/kosi-seoul-nat-univ-tonkatsu-wasabi-salt-20-1qurv-900.webp)

My friend's kake udon! Now that the weather's getting cooler, a warm bowl of udon really hits the spot. The noodles were thick and springy — absolutely fantastic. Kosi is truly an udon place worth visiting 💕

## Is Kosi in Gwanak worth a return visit?

Kosi Seoul National University Entrance Branch nailed both the udon and the tonkatsu in every way — I'd love to come back! If you're near Seoul National University Entrance Station or Sharosu-gil and looking for a tonkatsu spot, I highly recommend it!!
