I'd walked past it before and noticed the sign and the staff cooking passionately inside. The people eating there looked like they were enjoying it, so I'd wanted to come at least once... and with the weather getting colder, it felt like the perfect time. The noodles were chewier than I imagined, and even the toppings were perfect. There were also set udon meals, thin-noodle udon for hangovers, and mala udon. The menu was really varied. We ordered the hot kake udon (₩10,000) and, from the butter-mixed udon, the kamabata udon (₩16,000) with parmesan cheese, mentaiko (spicy pollock roe), gourmet butter, pepper and fried bacon! ## Are Tebo's kake udon noodles really chewy? Tebo's basic kake udon had really chewy, clean-tasting noodles. The kake udon came out first, with the noodles neatly and prettily arranged. They looked super chewy, and when I picked them up with the broth, wow... they were truly chewy and mild, and delicious. Can you see how springy they are..? Can you see how plump and bouncy the noodles are..sigh.. The mentaiko in the sauce made the seasoning just right. The side menu at Tebo had cherry tomato tempura for ₩1,000, and I wondered what it was... so I ordered it. Personally I liked it, haha. (I'm someone who likes pineapple pizza, so I like roasted or fried cherry tomatoes, hahaha.) ## Why Tebo works for a Sinsa-dong date or office lunch If you're on a date in Sinsa or Apgujeong, especially with a partner in the cold winter, I strongly recommend Tebo, a traditional Japanese Sanuki udon specialist. The atmosphere was great, and perhaps because the noodles are made in-house, they were so chewy that I could really feel the difference from the udon at ordinary udon shops.
