## In short

Jjamppong Jijon Yeoksam Branch is a Chinese restaurant in Gangnam, Seoul, near Yeoksam Station. I tried jjamppong, jjajangmyeon with mapo tofu, and crispy glutinous-rice tangsuyuk; the noodles and texture of the fried pork were especially good. Verdict: a satisfying, spacious choice for solo meals or dining with friends.

## Jjamppong Jijon, an easy spot for solo dining near Yeoksam Station

I had something to do near Yeoksam Station and stopped by Jjamppong Jijon, a great spot for an easy solo meal. The space was roomy, the staff were kind, and it felt very approachable for dining alone, haha. The food was seriously delicious too!

### Exterior and visitor information

They are open from 10:00 to 22:00, so you can eat fairly late here! There is also a parking lot in front of the restaurant, which makes parking convenient.

Jjamppong Jijon near Yeoksam Station had such a spacious interior. I thought it would be a nice option for nearby office workers at lunch, too.

There are tables for two as well as tables for larger groups!

![Tables for two and larger groups](https://img.superchart.com/images/yeoksam-jjajang-mapadubu-jjampongjijon/yeoksam-jjajang-mapadubu-jjampongjijon-05-1bze4-966.webp)

Each table was neatly stocked with seasonings such as soy sauce and vinegar.

The restroom was separately located indoors, and it was incredibly clean.

And they gave us individually wrapped danmuji (yellow pickled radish)! It actually felt even more hygienic that way.

![Wrapped danmuji and the self-serve bar](https://img.superchart.com/images/yeoksam-jjajang-mapadubu-jjampongjijon/yeoksam-jjajang-mapadubu-jjampongjijon-08-13l9e-966.webp)

If you need more danmuji, you can help yourself at the self-serve bar, where there was zhacai (pickled mustard stem) and kimchi too. They use Korean-grown kimchi.

The menu has the basics—jjajangmyeon (noodles in black bean sauce), jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup), and fried rice—as well as unusual jjamppong with soft tofu, rice noodles, or sujebi (hand-torn dough flakes), plus savory crab-meat and shrimp fried rice. There are also substantial half-and-half combinations that let you pair jjajang, jjamppong, mapo tofu, and tangsuyuk as you like, alongside satisfying sides such as crispy glutinous-rice tangsuyuk (sweet-and-sour fried pork), dumplings, and sweetened-condensed-milk flower buns.

## From jjamppong to jjajangmyeon with mapo tofu

![A bowl of ordered jjamppong](https://img.superchart.com/images/yeoksam-jjajang-mapadubu-jjampongjijon/yeoksam-jjajang-mapadubu-jjampongjijon-09-end9y-966.webp)

Since the restaurant is called Jjamppong Jijon, I ordered the jjamppong first, haha. It was loaded with such a generous variety of ingredients?!

![Jjamppong topped with chives and quail eggs](https://img.superchart.com/images/yeoksam-jjajang-mapadubu-jjampongjijon/yeoksam-jjajang-mapadubu-jjampongjijon-11-finqo-966.webp)

It looked even more appetizing with chives and cute little quail eggs on top. The noodles were cooked just right and did not start sticking together even by the time I finished the bowl—they were so good. This place seems to be solid at the basics of cooking.

They also had a jjajangmyeon-and-mapo-tofu menu! I had never seen that combination before, so I ordered it, haha. The sweet jjajangmyeon and spicy mapo tofu worked better together than I expected. The jjajangmyeon had a glossy, thick sauce with a nutty, sweet-and-savory depth that felt like a flavor everyone could enjoy. The mapo tofu had a subtle wok-char aroma and a pleasantly tingling chile-oil heat that neatly cut through the richness of the jjajang.

This Korean-style mapo tofu was especially delicious, haha. The tofu's soft texture and the chewy jjajang noodles came together so well that I could enjoy it right to the end without getting tired of it!

## Crispy yet chewy glutinous-rice tangsuyuk

The tangsuyuk at Jjamppong Jijon near Yeoksam Station uses glutinous rice, giving it a crispy exterior and a chewy, tender interior!

![A plate of glutinous-rice tangsuyuk](https://img.superchart.com/images/yeoksam-jjajang-mapadubu-jjampongjijon/yeoksam-jjajang-mapadubu-jjampongjijon-15-1xvse-966.webp)

The pork was thick and meaty with no off smell, so it was satisfying to bite into. The sauce was not overly sweet, with a sweet-and-tangy flavor that did not become tiring. Eating it with cabbage also cleared away the richness, making this crispy tangsuyuk just right alongside jjajangmyeon or mapo tofu.

By chance, I ended up having a really proper Chinese meal for the first time in a while, haha. It was a great Yeoksam spot both for solo dining and for coming with friends.

If you are looking for a hearty, reliably good Chinese restaurant near Yeoksam Station, do not hesitate to stop by Jjamppong Jijon! Every dish is cleanly made and broadly appealing, and the restaurant is spacious and comfortable, so you can always enjoy a very satisfying meal. I strongly recommend it as a Yeoksam favorite for lunch, or for tasty drinks and a gathering after work!
