Today's spot is a sashimi takeout shop in Ungcheon, Yeosu. This place has gotten quite famous so it draws a lot of people — the sashimi is reeeally fresh, and best of all the prices are less than half of a regular sashimi restaurant. From inside Ungcheon Kkumeugerin Complex 1, there's a path connecting to the direct sales market — park next to that container marked 'Ungcheon Fishing Village Council,' and walk about 30 seconds to find the standing sign pointing to Uchangho!

At Uchangho, the owner picks the black porgy straight from the tank, weighs it, and cleans it right there. A 1kg black porgy costs ₩40,000, and even when the scale showed a bit over 1kg, he prepared it as is.

There are seats, and since it's right in front of the beach, you can enjoy sashimi with a shot of soju while feeling the sea breeze! The weather was great too, so the ocean view was amazing!

This is the rock bream visual! Cut into bite-sized pieces, and taking a bite — 🎈🎈 really fresh, chewy texture 🎈🎈 True to black porgy's character, the flesh was firm, and best of all, absolutely zero fishy smell. It was fresh enough to really feel it, and everyone I ate with was full of compliments. When I said it was from Uchangho, they were like 'of course, Uchangho' ^ㅡ^ You can trust the freshness at this sashimi shop ^ㅡ^ Another great meal today ^ㅡ^

Today's experience was at the Uchangho direct sales market~ This is probably already famous enough that most locals know it, and it's a place to enjoy sashimi in Ungcheon at a really good price. The owner clearly cares a lot about hygiene and about the freshness of the fish, and I could really taste how sweet and fresh the sashimi was! Once the black porgy and rock bream fatten up more in winter, I'll have to come back for another round!
