Today I'm introducing a casual American dining spot in Gwangalli where you can enjoy pizza made with 48-hour fermented dough in a relaxed atmosphere.

## Where is Extra Mile? Between Gwangan Station and Gwangalli Beach

This is Extra Mile, a Gwangalli pizza restaurant.

After checking out an exhibition with Ganda, we got hungry and went for pizza haha~~

Extra Mile isn't right in front of Gwangalli Beach — it's located between Gwangan Station and the beach, so it's a decent walk from the beach side too.

### Parking at Extra Mile: the Boseong private lot

A note if you're driving: parking isn't possible right in front of the store, and the nearest recommended parking lot is Boseong Private Parking Lot.

Personally, eating in Gwangalli can be a bit stressful because of parking, so I'd recommend checking the parking lot in advance before visiting. We came on foot, so we just walked and walked.

## Inside Extra Mile: the room and the seating

Extra Mile looks clean from the outside, and once you step in, the whole place has a comfortable feel.

Rather than feeling like a restaurant where you need to dress formally,

it's a good spot for a relaxed meal with friends, and a comfortable, no-pressure atmosphere for a date too :)

They said the name EXTRAMILE carries the meaning of "willingly going one step further" (Go the Extra Mile),

and rather than just being a place to eat and leave, they aim to be a casual American dining spot where you can comfortably enjoy the food, the space, and the service all together.

And honestly, the overall vibe was exactly that.

## What we ordered at Extra Mile: the set for two and a half-and-half pizza

There were so many delicious-looking menu items that after a lot of deliberation, we ordered the two-person set: hot honey pepperoni / salad pizza, and bisque cream pasta.

At Extra Mile, you can order any pizza half-and-half, and there's no extra charge for it, which I really liked.

### Coloring sheets and crayons on every table

Also, each table has coloring paper laid out with crayons in a paper cup, and Ganda — who loves coloring — was over the moon hahahahahahaha.

After a bit of coloring, the pizza and pasta we ordered showed up.

## How does the salad pizza taste?

Let's try the salad pizza first. True to its name, it's a pizza with a generous topping of European vegetables on a crispy-baked pizza dough.

Add Caesar dressing, cranberries, olives, and nuts, and it tastes like a pizza that's also refreshing like a salad. The salad pizza was tastier than I expected?!!

## Hot honey pepperoni on 48-hour fermented dough

Next is the hot honey pepperoni. It's a pizza with salty pepperoni, sharp pickled peppers, and sweet-spicy hot honey added on top.

Maybe because it has mascarpone and ricotta cheese, the spicy, salty flavor comes through more smoothly than expected, and especially with the hot honey, you get that sweet-salty-spicy combo all at once.

I also liked the pizza dough — apparently Extra Mile makes its own dough using premium Italian flour and the Biga pre-fermentation method. Because the dough goes through long, low-temperature fermentation, it's crispy outside and chewy inside.

## Bisque cream pasta at Extra Mile

The bisque cream pasta was tastier than I expected.

It's a cream pasta based on a rich bisque sauce made by simmering red shrimp heads and shells for a long time, and I could really taste that deep umami flavor, kind of like the innards of a snow crab.

On top of that, the nuttiness of Reggiano cheese and the subtle sea flavor of gamtae (a type of seaweed) add together for a properly rich taste.

The shrimp were also way tastier than the shrimp you'd find in a regular pasta!!!

## Is Extra Mile in Gwangalli worth it?

At Extra Mile, since they make their own dough and ferment it for a long time before baking, I really liked the crispy-yet-chewy texture of the pizza dough. Ordering the hot honey pepperoni + salad pizza half-and-half meant I could enjoy two different flavors at once, which was satisfying.

I also loved that there's no extra charge for half-and-half ><
