## In short

Gogo Kalguksu is a Korean noodle restaurant in Maetan-dong, Suwon, near the Samsung Electro-Mechanics campus, serving dongjuk kalguksu (hand-cut noodle soup with Gochang clams). A bowl costs 9,000 won at lunch and comes with free noodle refills and free rice, while the geotjeori (fresh cabbage kimchi) is made daily with Korean-grown cabbage. ## Where to park at Gogo Kalguksu near Samsung Electro-Mechanics

Gogo Kalguksu, a Maetan-dong favorite near Samsung Electro-Mechanics, serves a clean and refreshing dongjuk kalguksu!!! Parking is available on the road right in front of the restaurant from 11:30 to 13:30, lunchtime hours — and since I happened to visit right during lunch, I could park comfortably right out front. Outside those hours, you can use the space behind the building.

## Gogo Kalguksu menu and prices

The menu has dongjuk kalguksu for ₩9,000, multgotong (clam) soup for ₩15,000, and herbal bossam (boiled pork) for ₩15,000. It's great for lunch, but the bossam and soup also make perfect drinking snacks, so if you like a drink, they work well as anju (drinking food) too. There's a good lineup of alcohol too — soju, beer, makgeolli, and Gochang bokbunja. I was there for a meal, so I ordered the dongjuk kalguksu!!

### Free noodle refills and free rice at lunch

Looking around inside, I noticed noodle refills and rice were free!!! It's great being able to eat the noodles and then fill up with rice on top. Guys with a big appetite should definitely take advantage of the free noodle refill.

### Self-serve side dishes and geotjeori made fresh daily

At the self-serve corner, I could help myself to kimchi, pickled radish, pickled peppers, and seasoning sauce — all things that go well with kalguksu. The kimchi on offer is geotjeori (fresh cabbage kimchi), and knowing it's made fresh every single day really shows the care put in.

With all the worry these days about Chinese cabbage, it was reassuring that Gogo Kalguksu uses fresh, Korean-grown cabbage — good taste, and above all, peace of mind.

Since the side dishes are self-serve, you get your side dishes and a small plate ready ahead of time, then wait for the kalguksu to arrive~

## How is the broth and are the noodles at Gogo Kalguksu?

Gogo Kalguksu's dongjuk kalguksu uses Korean-grown anchovies simmered for a long time, so the broth tastes deep, cool, and refreshing. With the clams added on top, the clean flavor is even more pronounced, and picking through for the clams is part of the fun.

The noodles are chewy, and slurping them down with the house-made geotjeori is a great match of crisp and chewy textures that go down easily. My partner, who isn't usually a big fan of kalguksu, said the noodles here were really good and ate happily 😀 After finishing the noodles and clams, I even mixed in the rice for a hearty finish^^

### Gochang clams and how the grit is cleaned out

One thing I noticed while eating was how thoroughly the clams had been de-gritted — no grit at all, so I could enjoy every bite to the end. Gogo Kalguksu uses Gochang clams, which is probably how they achieve such a clean taste. Clams are a high-protein, low-fat food that's good for cardiovascular health, the liver, bone health, and boosting immunity, and being mild and light, they're easy to enjoy without feeling heavy. It's nice to be able to check the key benefits too.

![Self-serve seasoning sauce for a spicier taste](https://img.superchart.com/images/gogo-kalguksu-dongjuk-lunch-suwon/gogo-kalguksu-dongjuk-lunch-suwon-13-1vmbg-900.webp)

### Want it spicier? Stir in the seasoning sauce

If you like a spicier, more intense flavor, there's a seasoning sauce set aside separately that you can add to taste.

And of course, no kalguksu is complete without pepper. I started off eating it plain and clean, but by the end, adding pepper and seasoning sauce gave it a different, delicious flavor. It was exactly the kind of dish you want when you've lost your appetite at lunchtime.

## Why Gogo Kalguksu is worth a second visit

Next time, I want to come back for the herbal bossam and multgotong (clam) soup as drinking food. It's a place that works whether you're with family or friends, or dining alone — not intimidating at all. The weather's slowly turning colder, and that's exactly the season you start craving hot kalguksu haha. Had a delicious meal at Gogo Kalguksu, a Maetan-dong favorite~~+ Also worth noting, they accept local currency 🫶
