After eating in Yeoksam, I went looking for an amazing dessert and ended up at Selected Nicks. Coming out of Gangnam Station Exit 3, it's within a 5-minute walk.

If you're driving, search '827-83 Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu' — when you arrive, there's a barrier, and you can ask the 1F staff there. (Free for café visitors.)

Selected Nicks is a large café spanning 5 floors near Gangnam Station, with both small private space rentals and large spaces available for exhibitions, seminars, meetings, and pop-ups. The scale and purpose differ a bit by floor, so it's worth calling to check. Such a huge café in Gangnam... it even has a rooftop where you can enjoy the city view.

Selected Nicks specializes in tiramisu, and they even have a Dubai chewy tiramisu. It's been a while since I had Dubai-style dessert, so I visited to whip myself back into shape (?).

## Inside Selected Nicks: what each of the five floors looks like

This is the path from the entrance into the café building. There are tables along the way too, and with the lighting and parasols, the atmosphere is so pretty — it'd be great to use on a nice, non-rainy day.

B1 through 3F and 8F are café spaces, and the top floor is the rooftop. Besides the stairs seen in the photo, there's an elevator once you go inside the building. Stairs are recommended for B1-3F, and the elevator only for 8F and the rooftop. Ordering happens on the 1st floor.

Selected Nicks says their tiramisu uses fresh eggs and cheese in an authentic Italian recipe, with their own recipe added on top, giving both flavor and a chewy texture.

Tiramisu is what they're known for, but they also sell financiers, madeleines, cookies, brownies, and du-jjon-ku (a tiramisu-flavored cookie). Visiting around 7pm on a weekday evening, quite a few menu items were sold out.

There's also a promotion where buying Cumulonimbus, said to be Pierrot Gourmand's number 1 jelly, gets you an extra box free. I'd never seen this jelly before, so being told it's the number 1 seller makes me curious.

There's a new summer mango drink too. The two of us ordered as follows.

### What two people ordered at Selected Nicks on a weekday evening

- Dubai chewy tiramisu (du-jjon-ti) ₩15,800
- Iced americano, decaf ₩7,000

Switching the coffee to decaf beans adds ₩1,000. Even though there were two of us, I asked if it was okay to order just one drink, and they said yes, so we only got one coffee. On a diet or not (?), I couldn't resist the du-jjon-ti.

Inside the café there's a floor guide along with water, napkins, paper cups, and straws set up so you can settle in comfortably. After ordering, we went to find a seat—

First, there's a board explaining the recommended purpose, capacity, and amenities for space rental on each floor.

## 2nd floor or 3rd floor at Selected Nicks: which seats to take

Here's the inside of the 2nd floor. In white tones with generous space between tables, it's a comfortable space to enjoy drinks and desserts. There were people working at the window seats too.

It seems they also display and sell products here.

Here's the 3rd floor. It had a slightly more modern vibe, with a large table in the middle for group use, good for meetings too. Like the 2nd floor, there are 2- and 4-person tables and window seats, so it can hold a good number of people. The 2nd floor is bright with quieter music, giving it a calmer feel, while the 3rd floor has louder music and a more modern vibe — good to pick according to your own taste.

## How does the Dubai chewy tiramisu taste?

Our Dubai chewy tiramisu and iced americano arrived. They also give you scissors for cutting the marshmallow.

The du-jjon-ti has pistachio kataifi on top of a base tiramisu, covered by a chewy marshmallow layer, then topped with pistachio cream and crushed pistachio nuts.

Using the provided scissors, you cut through the marshmallow wrapping the Dubai spread and eat it together. I only cut halfway and was startled by how much Dubai spread came pouring out.

There's really a lot in there, and the pistachio paste looks rich just from looking at it — that nutty flavor typical of Dubai-style desserts, with the kataifi absolutely crunchy, giving a perfect crackly texture. It'd been a while since I had Dubai-style dessert, and it was delicious enough that I was glad I ordered it, haha. The marshmallow layer was soft with a nice hint of cocoa, and the pistachio cream wasn't cloying either. The tiramisu had a good coffee aroma and a slightly bouncy texture.

The decaf coffee had almost no acidity and was on the nutty side, not bitter, which made it good to pair with dessert. The Dubai trend may have passed its peak, but Dubai-style desserts are a steady seller (?), aren't they. This was my review of Selected Nicks, a café where you can enjoy a delicious Dubai chewy tiramisu in a spacious setting.
