## In short

Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk Goyang Samsong Branch is a Jeju-style haejangguk (hangover soup) restaurant in the Ipyeonhansesang City Samsong shopping complex in Goyang, five minutes by car from Starfield Goyang. Eating alone on a rainy weekday lunch, the writer waited about 10 minutes and ordered the 20,000-won dombe pork set, which comes with haejangguk, sliced dombe pork (Jeju-style boiled pork) and a generously packed bowl of rice. With plenty of other solo diners around, Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk is an easy place to sit down alone for a filling Korean meal.

## Haejangguk near Starfield Goyang: what is Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk Goyang Samsong Branch?

Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk Goyang Samsong Branch is a Jeju-style haejangguk (hangover soup) restaurant at 33 Dongsong-ro, Deogyang-gu, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, in the Ipyeonhansesangciti Samsong shopping complex. It's open weekdays 10:00–21:30 and weekends 09:00–22:00, with Mondays closing early at 15:30.

I had some errands at Starfield Goyang recently and went alone. I figured the mall itself would be crowded, so I wanted somewhere quiet and filling nearby to eat by myself. I ended up back at Eunhui-ne Haejangguk Samsong Branch, which I'd enjoyed on a previous visit. Spoiler: it was really, really good and filling :)

## How long is the weekday lunch wait, and where do you park?

Jeju Eunhui-ne Haejangguk Goyang Samsong Branch is about a 5-minute drive from Starfield Goyang, so it's easy to get to. I went during weekday lunch and there was about a 10-minute wait.

I'd been craving something hot and spicy, and since it was nearby, I dropped in. No need to worry about parking — the building's underground lot is spacious, so I parked easily and headed up. If you mention it after your meal, they'll add extra parking validation.

## Inside the restaurant: is it comfortable for eating alone?

I'd recommend the value-for-money set menus. The haejangguk and dombe pork set is apparently the most popular item.

Walking in, I was greeted by a clean, spacious dining room. Even during weekday lunch there were quite a lot of customers, but tables turned over fast so I got seated quickly. I saw quite a few other solo diners too, so it didn't feel awkward at all. Since it was raining that day, it seemed like everyone had come for haejangguk.

By the way, all menu items are available for takeout! You get a free extra bowl of rice with one meal per person.

As soon as I sat down, the side dishes were set out quickly. Crunchy kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) plus a generous pile of minced garlic — that's the signature move at Eunhui-ne Haejangguk.

## What comes with the 20,000-won dombe pork set?

What I ordered was the dombe pork set, priced at ₩20,000. It comes with both haejangguk and dombe pork, so the value is really excellent. I was able to eat solidly and comfortably on my own at weekday lunch.

Personally, when I go to a restaurant, I love it when the rice bowl comes packed full :) It's not sparsely filled — it comes generously heaped, which just feels satisfying and puts me in a good mood. Eunhui-ne Haejangguk Samsong Branch is exactly like that.

### What Jeju-style dombe pork tastes like

I also tried the dombe pork included in the set right away. There was no off smell at all, and it was boiled so tenderly it practically melted in my mouth.

Since it's Jeju-style dombe pork, this isn't a texture you find easily on the mainland! It has that exact chewy-yet-tender bite.

## The haejangguk broth and how spicy the dadaegi chilli paste is

Isn't the visual of the haejangguk, piled generously in a stone bowl, already overwhelming? The broth is spicy yet has a rich, deep meat aroma that gently spreads out — the moment you take a spoonful, it feels like your stomach instantly clears up. It's not just aggressively spicy; there's a deep, lingering flavor, so I kept going back for more. Getting solid protein and a spicy broth together at this price was a big point of satisfaction.

By the way, Eunhui-ne Haejangguk has red dadaegi (spicy chili paste) mixed in, and this dadaegi is the real deal. It feels like chili oil but with zero greasiness — nutty and spicy at the same time, so this really isn't a haejangguk flavor you find everywhere. I've had it at the original Jeju branch too, and you get that exact same flavor here.

The amount of dadaegi looks like a lot, but once you actually eat it, it's not spicy — just slightly hot — so pretty much anyone can enjoy it without complaint.

Haejangguk tastes best when you mix rice right into the broth. Eating it on a rainy, slightly chilly day was just perfect.

One bowl of haejangguk is a pretty generous portion, but I finished it completely without leaving anything. Can you even imagine how good it was...?
