## In short

Magician JT's Science Lab is a kids' science magic show held at Pyeongsong Youth Culture Center in Seo-gu, Daejeon. The writer took a 32-month-old and a 5-year-old niece to the 2pm show, where tricks such as levitation and cloud-making were explained before being performed, followed by audience participation games and a laser show at the end. Because Magician JT calls up so many volunteers, rows 2 to 6 are the seats worth aiming for.

## What is Magician JT's Science Lab in Daejeon?

I was trying to figure out what to do with the baby on the weekend when I found out about a kids' magic show at Pyeongsong Youth Culture Center. Wait, a kids' magic show, at Pyeongsong?! And with science mixed in..!!!

It sounded like it'd be packed with fun, interest, and education, so I booked right away ✨ My 32-month-old baby was coming, and so was my 5-year-old niece, who I figured would enjoy the show even more.

The kids got so excited once they heard we were going to see a science magic show! My niece usually doesn't like being away from her mom and dad, but I lured her with the promise of a super fun magic show and she agreed to come with us haha 😆

It'd been forever since I'd been to Pyeongsong so I worried I wouldn't find the hall, but they had signs pointing the way the whole route, so it was easy to get there!

## Ticket booth and photo zone before you go in

Since it was the 2pm show and doors opened at 1:40, we took photos out front to pass the time. Turns out that after the show ends, you can get a free photo right there with Magician JT and his magic assistant rabbit Toto.

Being a science magic show, the ticket booth had goods like magic wands on display, along with a picture frame that looks different depending on the angle. Both of my kids were completely fascinated by that frame.

There were way more people there than I expected!! Definitely mostly preschoolers to early elementary kids, but also quite a few around my baby's age. Everyone was buzzing with excitement.

### Quiz time before the show starts

Before the show started, simple quizzes popped up on the screen to get the kids interested. They were super excited during this part too. Some of the characters were ones our kids knew, so they answered eagerly.

I was worried they'd get bored sitting around before the show started, but with 'Loopy!!! Pinkfong!!!' shouting, their participation shot right up and they were already hyped before it even began 👍

## How the show runs: levitation and cloud-making explained first

At first, Magician JT shows off a few magic tricks, and honestly this part amazed us too. The kids were all gasping in wonder. I'd planned to put my phone away since it was a show, but they said it was fine to film freely, capturing how excited the kids were.

Magic shows built on scientific principles run one after another — levitation, cloud-making, and more. He explains the theory simply first, then shows the trick. Some tricks, like the levitation one, involve kids or parents participating, and all the kids wanted to do it so badly haha

Even my niece, who's pretty shy, threw her hand up wanting to try haha. There was also a segment where everyone reached out to roll and hit a giant Earth-shaped, Mars-shaped ball... or balloon...? and sadly my niece didn't get a turn and cried ㅠㅠ haha. Moments like this made me realize sitting up front really is better.

### The highlights: cloud-making and the laser show

The highlight of Magician JT's science magic show — cloud-making! It's a trick where hot water is poured into liquid nitrogen to create an explosive burst of vapor, and seeing it up close made it even more amazing.

To wrap things up on a high note, there's a laser show at the end!! They announce that the laser light is so intense it could damage cameras. During this part, you just watch the colorful laser show.

Magician JT's Science Lab was packed with things to see right to the end 👍 There are still many shows left nationwide, so if you're raising kids, I definitely recommend checking it out!!
