## In short

Baeksanu Sutbul Wolsong Main Branch is a newly opened charcoal pork galbi restaurant on Joam-ro in Dalseo, Daegu. The writer booked through Naver Reservation and arrived Saturday at 1pm before a high schooler's hagwon class, ordering the Baeksanu Signature 1kg for 44,000 won with doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), steamed egg and milmyeon (cold wheat noodles), and parked on the street out front and in a nearby dirt lot. Entry is simple even for a nervous driver, and with pre-grilled meat and a playroom, Baeksanu Sutbul made for a filling family meal.

Last Saturday it was hagwon again for my high schooler. I wanted to feed him well before his afternoon class, so I went looking for a pork galbi place near the Wolseong-dong hagwon district with parking, and that's how I found Baeksanu Sutbul Wolsong branch. Apparently it's a brand-new spot. New place meant it'd probably be clean, I figured, and the reviews I checked beforehand were generally above average. So I decided to go see for myself.

## Booking Baeksanu Sutbul on Naver for a Wolseong-dong family lunch

Baeksanu Sutbul Wolsong Main Branch is a newly opened galbi restaurant in Wolseong-dong, and we'd reserved ahead — booked on Naver Thursday night, got the confirmation message Friday afternoon. With a 2:30pm hagwon class, eating at 1pm and sending him off worked out perfectly.

## How easy is it to drive to Baeksanu Sutbul, and where do you park?

- Address_ 102-10 Joam-ro, Dalseo-gu, Daegu
- Hours_16:00–23:30
- Last order_ 22:30

### The approach road and parking, rated by a beginner driver

Parking is a big factor for me when choosing a restaurant. As a beginner driver, I tend to avoid places tucked deep in winding alleys or with tricky entry. By that standard, Baeksanu Sutbul seemed like a place you could drive to without much trouble.

It's near Joam-ro in Sinwolseong-dong. More specifically, heading toward Joam intersection from Wolseong CGV, turn right just before the intersection and it's right there on your right. It's not a long alley off a main road — the route in itself is simple.

You can park on the street right in front of the restaurant, or use a nearby dirt lot. Seeing it in person, I thought even a beginner could manage this. Though that's admittedly a pretty personal impression. :)

For reference, we parked right on the street in front of the restaurant. One more tip — there's also Seondol Madang neighborhood park nearby. Good for a walk with the kids after eating.

## What is the restaurant like inside, and how big is it?

![Spacious tables and bench-style seating at Baeksanu Sutbul Wolsong Main Branch](https://img.superchart.com/images/baeksanwoo-charcoal-wolseong-parking-family-lunch/baeksanwoo-charcoal-wolseong-parking-family-lunch-05-luxnj-740.webp)
*Both tables and chairs were spacious. Comfortable enough to keep a bag down while eating.*

Baeksanu Sutbul was a bit distinctive from the outside. The exterior wall has a cement-brick texture, with stacks of firewood — some out front, some visible inside too. They probably don't actually burn it here, but it sets the overall mood as an interior design element. There's also a waiting bench by the entrance.

Walking in, the first impression is spacious and big. The ceiling is fairly high too, so even with lots of tables it feels open and roomy. The overall tone is earthy, ochre-toned. The area under the tables was distinctive too — stacked brick finished with ochre clay, which seemed to echo the firewood stacks outside.

The tables and chairs are fixed in place. The chairs are wooden bench-style without backrests, but wide enough that you could set your bag down and still sit comfortably. The one downside was that there wasn't much legroom under the tables for your knees.

## Does Baeksanu Sutbul work for large groups?

![Group seating with joined tables at Baeksanu Sutbul Wolsong Main Branch](https://img.superchart.com/images/baeksanwoo-charcoal-wolseong-parking-family-lunch/baeksanwoo-charcoal-wolseong-parking-family-lunch-06-48ogd-740.webp)

Very suited to groups — big and spacious. Looking around the restaurant, I noticed tables pushed together for larger parties. There's a spot with two 4-person tables joined for 8 people, and a center area with three 4-person tables joined that looked like it could seat up to 12.

I don't know the exact square footage, but the place definitely felt large. We visited Saturday at 1pm and there was already a group there — around 16 people, looking like they were having a daytime drink after some kind of workout, a little after-party vibe.

Seeing an actual group in action, I thought a space this size could easily handle school groups or company dinners. Seeing a group at lunch at a place that just opened made me wonder if word had already started spreading.

## How the staff trim and pre-grill the pork galbi

![Open kitchen where meat is butchered at Baeksanu Sutbul Wolsong Main Branch](https://img.superchart.com/images/baeksanwoo-charcoal-wolseong-parking-family-lunch/baeksanwoo-charcoal-wolseong-parking-family-lunch-07-1jcjw-740.webp)

There's an open kitchen toward the back. A sign reading 'butchery on site' caught my eye — probably where they fillet raw galbi cuts themselves. Next to it I could see the charcoal used for pre-grilling, and actually watched the meat being trimmed and pre-cooked. Apparently Baeksanu Sutbul distributes and prepares its own pork galbi as a specialty. Maybe that's why the meat being handled looked extra good. :)

![Not-too-sweet pork galbi at Baeksanu Sutbul](https://img.superchart.com/images/baeksanwoo-charcoal-wolseong-parking-family-lunch/baeksanwoo-charcoal-wolseong-parking-family-lunch-10-1jle7-740.webp)

![Pork skin grilled over charcoal](https://img.superchart.com/images/baeksanwoo-charcoal-wolseong-parking-family-lunch/baeksanwoo-charcoal-wolseong-parking-family-lunch-12-1nrt7-740.webp)

![Grilled pork galbi served with wrap greens](https://img.superchart.com/images/baeksanwoo-charcoal-wolseong-parking-family-lunch/baeksanwoo-charcoal-wolseong-parking-family-lunch-13-85xtn-740.webp)

We ordered the Baeksanu signature 1kg for ₩44,000. I personally liked that it comes pre-grilled. Getting it pre-cooked cuts down the time spent grilling at the table, which is convenient. Especially eating as a family, it's nice not having one person stuck grilling the whole time. That's part of why I picked this as our Wolseong-dong family meal spot.

The meat wasn't overly sweet, which I liked. With pork galbi you sometimes get sauce so sweet you tire of it after a few bites, but not here. Not overly sweet, so it was easy to keep eating. Smoke ventilation while grilling was good too — I checked inside the hood and it wasn't greasy, pretty clean.

## Pork skin at the self-serve bar: what else is on it?

The self-serve bar's wrap greens had lettuce, kale, and bok choy. Looked fresh to the eye and well maintained. My personal favorite wrap combo is lettuce, perilla leaf, and sea fennel. I know not many places stock sea fennel, but I still wished they had perilla leaf.

The unusual find at the self-serve bar was pork skin. You can help yourself to as much as you want, which pork-skin fans would love. I went back for it multiple times myself. Both my middle-school kid and my high-schooler love pork skin, so.

Grilling pork skin on the charcoal made the fat pop and spit a little when it dripped, which startled me a few times. But maybe because of that grilling, it tasted great. Pork skin is supposed to be dipped in soybean flour though, and it was a small letdown that there wasn't any. Would be nice if they stocked it.

## What the kids' playroom actually looks like

![White-toned playroom at Baeksanu Sutbul Wolsong Main Branch](https://img.superchart.com/images/baeksanwoo-charcoal-wolseong-parking-family-lunch/baeksanwoo-charcoal-wolseong-parking-family-lunch-14-mhbjp-740.webp)

![Inside the playroom with a slide and punching bag](https://img.superchart.com/images/baeksanwoo-charcoal-wolseong-parking-family-lunch/baeksanwoo-charcoal-wolseong-parking-family-lunch-15-tun5y-740.webp)

If you're doing a Wolseong-dong family meal with kids, the Baeksanu Sutbul playroom is worth noting. These days some places call an empty room with a few arcade machines and claw games a 'playroom,' but this one is the real deal. Clean white tones, a jungle-gym structure, a slide, and even a punching bag. What stood out most was how well-kept it was.

![Free slushie machines in front of the playroom, with grape-flavored slushie](https://img.superchart.com/images/baeksanwoo-charcoal-wolseong-parking-family-lunch/baeksanwoo-charcoal-wolseong-parking-family-lunch-16-pr2ma-740.webp)
*Free slushies. We kept it to one cup each, in good conscience.*

### Free grape and orange slushies

Right in front of the playroom were grape and orange slushie machines. Free to enjoy, and our family liked the grape flavor better than orange.

Next to that were claw machines with Mentos, keycaps, and mini keyring prizes. A solid lineup for winning kids over. Of course, parents like me tend to want to keep our wallets shut the moment kids get interested in a claw machine. :)

![Claw machines next to the playroom](https://img.superchart.com/images/baeksanwoo-charcoal-wolseong-parking-family-lunch/baeksanwoo-charcoal-wolseong-parking-family-lunch-17-1hadg-740.webp)

That day there were quite a few other families with kids at other tables too. I didn't actually use the playroom myself, so I can't say for certain what age range would enjoy it most. But with a slide and punching bag, it's clearly a step up from a space with just a few arcade machines.

## What else is on the menu besides grilled meat?

![Sausage-shaped decoration hanging in the restaurant](https://img.superchart.com/images/baeksanwoo-charcoal-wolseong-parking-family-lunch/baeksanwoo-charcoal-wolseong-parking-family-lunch-18-1jyyo-740.webp)

![Menu board at Baeksanu Sutbul Wolsong Main Branch](https://img.superchart.com/images/baeksanwoo-charcoal-wolseong-parking-family-lunch/baeksanwoo-charcoal-wolseong-parking-family-lunch-19-do7dx-740.webp)

Assorted sausage, charcoal-grilled squid, cheese scallops, raw beef (yukhoe), and more. Looking around the restaurant I noticed something unusual too — a decoration that looked like hanging sausages. Not real sausages, obviously, but it made me think, 'ah, this place sells sausage too.'

Checking the menu, there was assorted sausage for ₩20,000. You don't usually think of sausage at a galbi restaurant, but here there was also charcoal squid, cheese scallops, yukhoe, and more. We just had meat as a family meal, but if you're going with a group to drink, ordering a few side dishes alongside the meat to share seems like a good idea.

![Doenjang jjigae and rice at Baeksanu Sutbul](https://img.superchart.com/images/baeksanwoo-charcoal-wolseong-parking-family-lunch/baeksanwoo-charcoal-wolseong-parking-family-lunch-20-a684w-740.webp)

![Puffed-up steamed egg](https://img.superchart.com/images/baeksanwoo-charcoal-wolseong-parking-family-lunch/baeksanwoo-charcoal-wolseong-parking-family-lunch-21-1b993-740.webp)

![Milmyeon ordered instead of naengmyeon](https://img.superchart.com/images/baeksanwoo-charcoal-wolseong-parking-family-lunch/baeksanwoo-charcoal-wolseong-parking-family-lunch-22-btvr8-740.webp)

### Our order: pork galbi with doenjang jjigae, rice, steamed egg and milmyeon

Along with the meat we ordered doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) for ₩3,000, steamed egg for ₩2,000, and rice, plus milmyeon (wheat noodles). Honestly I wanted naengmyeon (cold noodles), but these days milmyeon shows up at galbi restaurants often. We went with milmyeon instead of naengmyeon this time too. What the family responded to especially well were the doenjang jjigae and steamed egg.

My middle-schooler in particular is a doenjang jjigae fanatic. Mixed rice into the stew and ate it up happily. The steamed egg puffed up nicely and was seasoned just right, not too bland. Eating meat along with doenjang jjigae, rice, and steamed egg made for a much more satisfying lunch than meat alone.

## Final verdict on Baeksanu Sutbul Wolsong Main Branch

Before visiting, I noticed some reviews mentioning second or third visits. I wondered if this was a place with a lot of repeat customers, and going in person, I could see why.

The spacious, clean space and pre-grilled pork galbi made for an easy meal, and having a playroom and slushies on hand made it less stressful to bring the kids along.

Parking was doable too, on the street out front or a nearby dirt lot, and the route in from the main road wasn't complicated — decent even for a beginner driver. This was our Saturday lunch spot for a Wolseong-dong family meal, and it turned out to be a pretty solid place to fill up on meat together as a family.
