## Why we chose Warayaki Tanyo on the Sasang Station bar street

Warayaki Tanyo sits on the bar street near Sasang Station. Meeting up with my drinking buddy after ages! I hadn't had much reason to eat in Sasang lately, so it was a rare visit to the Sasang Station bar street.

We'd basically been to every decent bar around Sasang Station already, so while wondering where to go, Warayaki Tanyo caught our eye!

The entrance doesn't let you see inside, so you might think, huh, is this really a nice bar? But step inside and it's an izakaya vibe you don't often find around Sasang Station.

## What are the bar-counter seats at Warayaki Tanyo like?

Warayaki Tanyo has a long, long bar-counter seat and a 4-person table inside too. Even though we came straight after work, there were already groups having a get-together.

We'll sit at the bar counter please. What's in front of us is the basic side dish.

Anyway, from outside you'd think, what is this place? But with that film covering the windows, it feels pretty private on the inside!

## What we ordered at Warayaki Tanyo and what it cost

We split the menu nicely — one dish each! My friend picked the amberjack sashimi, and I went with the pollack roe cream pasta.

### Amberjack sashimi, 30,000 won

First up, my friend's pick: amberjack sashimi 🐟 We almost missed out on this since they were nearly sold out, but luckily there was one portion left and we grabbed it fast haha.

Rice comes on the side, so you can make your own sushi, plus it comes with seaweed to eat together — yum yum.

That's basically why we ended up drinking three bottles,, and yes, we went on to a second round after this, not-so-secretly^^

And then my pick, the pollack roe cream pasta! Pasta as a soju snack, is that a real combo? RG?

For 18,000 won, this is a pretty solid soju side dish 🍝〰️ My friend tried it too and said it was a good pick, high five ✌🏾

And the sauce was so thick and rich, it was genuinely fantastic — this pollack roe cream pasta. The sauce was so good I straight up scraped the plate clean with my spoon;;;

## Grilled chicken 3 ways in Sasang: thigh, neck and gizzard, 24,000 won

That,, and because we wanted more soju,, this place is famous for grilled chicken in Sasang, so it'd be a shame not to try it. We ordered thigh, neck, and gizzard in that order, each a single order at 8,000 won!

The basic side dish that comes with the grilled chicken is kidney beans 🫛🫛

At first I thought, is this like skewer-grilled chicken? Kinda pricey? But nope, that thought went straight to Osan, Gyeonggi-do,,, because for this portion, 8,000 won is a great deal.

The thigh comes with chili sauce,, spicy and it goes great with the chicken thigh 👍🏾

Next up is the neck meat. Looking back at the live photo, I can tell I was already getting a little tipsy by this point lolllll

This one comes with mustard sauce ✨ Personally, the neck meat was seriously delicious! Out of the three, this was my favorite.

Last but not least, the gizzard 🫶🏽 They gave a different sauce for each type of grilled chicken, and it was all so good. Honestly, Sasang has a lot of older-crowd bars, so it's kind of tough to find a place with good vibes, but Warayaki Tanyo passes with flying colors.

## Is Warayaki Tanyo good for a second round in Sasang?

After all this, we still went on to an odeng (fish cake) bar,, hey friend, let's come back to Tanyo again next time. Anyway, I'd absolutely go back. If you're looking for a good-vibes izakaya with great grilled chicken in Sasang, Warayaki Tanyo is also perfect for a second-round Sasang bar visit!
