Yuok is a Japanese restaurant on the first floor of 47 Songjeong River-ro, Haeundae-gu, Busan. The moment we parked and got out in front of Yuok, our jaws dropped at the scene in front of us. The building's exterior alone felt like walking up to a long-established old restaurant in Japan.

From the entrance onward, tidy wooden interiors and Japanese-style decor greet you, and our kid was so excited, asking if this was really Japan.

Our expectations were already sky-high thanks to an exterior that lifted our mood before we even walked in. If you're looking for an atmospheric eel rice bowl restaurant near Songjeong Beach, Yuok already scores 100 points just from the outside.

## Inside Yuok: counter seats and family tables

Inside, Yuok is thoughtfully laid out with atmospheric bar seats good for solo dining or dates, and spacious table seats where families can eat comfortably. Stepping inside, a clean, tidy interior welcomed us.

Carefully placed Japanese-style decor pieces throughout the restaurant, paired with soft lighting, let us soak in the Japanese atmosphere the entire meal. Thanks to the cozy yet stylish interior, I understood why Yuok has earned the title of a great-atmosphere eel rice bowl restaurant in Songjeong. It's such an aesthetic space that you'd get a great photo no matter where you shoot.

## What a family of three ordered: three bowls and three sides

Yuok's menu centers on eel rice bowls but also features a range of appealing Japanese dishes. Since we'd made the trip, we decided to order fairly boldly so we could try a bit of everything.

My husband picked the signature jumbo unaju set, I chose the salmon rice bowl set, and for our older kid, who still can't quite handle eel, we ordered the tori-don set. On top of that, we added tempura udon, chicken karaage, and the intriguingly named tamago fry as sides.

## How were the jumbo unaju and the salmon rice bowl?

My salmon rice bowl was also excellent — the salmon was really fresh and generously piled on, so I was still marveling at it down to the last spoonful.

### Tori-don, the bowl for a child who cannot eat eel

Our older child, who can't eat eel, had the tori-don — a chicken rice bowl in a sweet-and-savory soy-based sauce. The sweet sauce made it a perfect match for kids' taste buds. After one bite, my kid said it was the best thing they'd ever eaten and cleaned the bowl.

### Tamago fry dipped in wasabi sauce

Curious, we ordered the tamago fry, and it was a very unique treat. A soft, fluffy rolled omelet fried until crispy — crunchy outside, sweet and moist inside — kept us reaching for more. They gave us two sauces, but I'd recommend dipping it in the wasabi sauce. It cuts through the richness completely, and the combination was truly the best.

### Tempura udon and chicken karaage at Yuok

The tempura udon we added on had really chewy noodles. The broth was also said to be nice and clean-tasting.

How could chicken karaage possibly be bad, right? The crispy batter locked in plenty of juice, delivering pure savory satisfaction — crispy outside, juicy inside, the works. I was so happy the whole meal, feeling like we'd found an eel rice bowl restaurant in Songjeong that satisfies the whole family.
