## In short

Haean Sutbul Galbi Gwangalli Main Branch is a charcoal BBQ restaurant on Namcheon Bada-ro in Suyeong, Busan, open until 1am and easy to reach for a late-night meal with drinks. Two of us ordered 3 servings of grilled pork tail plus a review-event extra, 2 bowls of mul milmyeon (cold wheat noodles), doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), 2 bowls of rice and 2 bottles of soju, and the deboned pork tail turned chewier the longer it grilled, tasting best with the spicy pickled mustard leaf. Haean Sutbul Galbi is a good choice in Gwangalli when you want a meat dish more unusual than samgyeopsal and a full meal to go with it.

I wanted to grab drinks and good meat with a close friend late one evening, so I looked up spots near my place. My friend's girlfriend recommended one — she said the grilled pork tail was really good, and the naengmyeon and side dishes too.

I already love charcoal-grilled meat, and pork tail skewers aren't something you eat often, so I was curious. That day, my friend and I headed to Haean Sutbul Galbi Gwangalli Main Branch for a late dinner and some drinks.

It's close to Gwangalli Beach too, so it's a good spot to eat and then take a walk along the beach afterward. Spoiler: we left that day feeling like our stomachs were about to burst, haha.

## Where is Haean Sutbul Galbi Gwangalli Main Branch, and what are its hours?

Haean Sutbul Galbi Gwangalli Main Branch is located at 35 Namcheon Bada-ro, 1st floor, Suyeong-gu, Busan. It's right near Gwangalli Beach, so it wasn't hard to find even on a first visit.

The outside sign has colorful blue, red and green lettering that stands out even from far away. If you're looking for a good meat restaurant in Gwangalli, this location is easy to spot and remember.

Out front there's a standing sign introducing the signature menu items — premium raw ribs, house-marinated ribs, and Haean's pork tail skewers, each with photos of the actual dishes. It was nice to see what we'd be ordering before even walking in, especially since pork tail skewers were exactly what we came for that day, and the photos made me even more excited.

There were also chairs out front for waiting.

The outdoor menu board is written in Korean, English, Chinese and Japanese. Since Gwangalli draws a lot of tourists, it seems the restaurant makes sure foreign guests can read the menu easily too.

Hours are daily from 17:00 to 01:00. Since it's open so late, it works well not just for dinner but also for late-night drinks if you're looking for a good meat restaurant in Gwangalli. There's no dedicated parking, so if you're driving you'll need to use a nearby paid lot. Reservations can be made by phone.

## What is the dining room like inside Haean Sutbul Galbi?

Walking in, the space was bigger than I expected. The tables were spaced well apart, so it never felt cramped next to the neighboring table, and everything was kept clean.

Best of all, for a BBQ place, there wasn't much of a meat smell lingering, which I really liked. At charcoal grill restaurants, people often worry about their clothes smelling afterward, but Haean Sutbul Galbi felt pretty fresh overall. It seemed like a good spot for a date, meeting friends, or even a work dinner or family meal in Gwangalli.

The country-of-origin labeling was also posted inside the restaurant.

![Country-of-origin labeling posted inside the restaurant](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwangalli-pork-tail-grill-haean/gwangalli-pork-tail-grill-haean-06-wri8r-966.webp)

There were also notices around the restaurant about the ingredients they use — pear, garlic, onion and other quality ingredients used without holding back. In particular, the marinated ribs are said to be aged in a house-made marinade using domestic pear, onion and garlic.

There were also helpful notices posted for guests — how to get extra side dishes, the Naver review event, and how to control the grill heat — all explained clearly enough for a first-time visitor to follow easily.

There was also a note saying they use only domestic grade-1 original rib chilled meat, and that the water used for stews, rice and sauces is filtered through a German water filtration system. Reading through these details one by one, it felt less like a Namcheon-dong meat restaurant just selling meat and more like a place that pays attention to every detail of the food.

### A menu hand-brushed in calligraphy on hanji paper

![Menu board written in brush calligraphy on hanji paper](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwangalli-pork-tail-grill-haean/gwangalli-pork-tail-grill-haean-07-oj0dl-966.webp)

The menu board itself was fun too. Unlike a typical menu, the names were written in brush calligraphy on hanji (traditional Korean paper), which fit the BBQ restaurant mood nicely. We had a clear goal from the start that day — pork tail skewers! And we decided to properly finish with a meal course afterward too, haha.

![Table setting with paper cups and kiosk](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwangalli-pork-tail-grill-haean/gwangalli-pork-tail-grill-haean-08-1ewcz-966.webp)

Each table had paper cups and a kiosk, with chopsticks soaking in hot water. A bone bucket was also provided, which came in handy while eating the pork tail skewers.

![Paper placemat with menu pairing suggestions](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwangalli-pork-tail-grill-haean/gwangalli-pork-tail-grill-haean-09-1a3wg-966.webp)

The paper placemat doubled as an info sheet, written in Korean, English, Chinese and Japanese, suggesting menu pairings and how to eat the meat, including making wraps. It was a fun way to learn which side dishes go well together rather than just eating the meat plain.

## What two people ordered, and the side dishes that came with it

![Kiosk order screen with food photos on the table](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwangalli-pork-tail-grill-haean/gwangalli-pork-tail-grill-haean-10-ck4tc-966.webp)

The kiosk showed actual food photos next to each item, making it easy to browse. We ordered 3 servings of pork tail skewers, plus an extra serving from the Naver review event, 2 mul milmyeon, doenjang jjigae, 2 bowls of rice and 2 bottles of soju.

Writing it out now, that's quite a lot for two people, haha. But once we started drinking, everything tasted so good we just kept ordering.

The basic side dishes were pretty varied too — baek kimchi (white kimchi), cabbage salad, pickled red pepper, dried radish strips, pickled onion, glass noodles, garlic, ssamjang (dipping sauce), lettuce wraps, scallion salad, and spicy pickled mustard leaf.

Instead of a self-serve side dish bar, you order side dishes through the kiosk here, which was very convenient. We tried several combinations with the pork tail skewers, and as I'll get to later, my favorite was the spicy pickled mustard leaf with pork tail.

Soon the charcoal came out. Of course meat tastes best grilled over charcoal — the heat and aroma of real charcoal added to the anticipation before we even started eating.

## How is the grilled pork tail served at Haean Sutbul Galbi?

Before the pork tail arrived, the staff explained the sauces to us. There were three — salt made from ground dried shrimp, soy sauce, and a spicy sauce. The staff recommended trying the dried shrimp salt first, to taste the meat's natural flavor before moving through the other sauces.

![Deboned pork tail skewers served at Haean Sutbul Galbi](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwangalli-pork-tail-grill-haean/gwangalli-pork-tail-grill-haean-11-11idn-966.webp)

And finally, the pork tail skewers arrived. The portion was bigger than I expected. It comes about 90% cooked after marinating, so you just finish grilling it a bit more at the table.

Best of all, the bones were already removed, making it easy to eat. You might assume pork tail would be a hassle because of the bones, but with it prepped this way, it was easy to enjoy.

![Daesun soju ordered alongside the pork tail skewers](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwangalli-pork-tail-grill-haean/gwangalli-pork-tail-grill-haean-12-19cug-966.webp)

And of course, meat calls for soju, haha. We ordered two bottles of Daesun soju and got started for real.

### Pork tail that turns chewier the longer you grill it

The staff explained that the pork tail gets chewier the longer it's grilled, so we let it cook a bit longer.

The texture was really unique when we tried it — it reminded me a bit of the chewy skin part of jokbal (pig's trotters), with the charcoal aroma and savory pork flavor added on top, making it a great drinking snack.

![Pork tail dipped in dried shrimp salt](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwangalli-pork-tail-grill-haean/gwangalli-pork-tail-grill-haean-13-1j50s-966.webp)

It was delicious just dipped in the dried shrimp salt,

![Pork tail dipped in soy sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwangalli-pork-tail-grill-haean/gwangalli-pork-tail-grill-haean-14-3ycy3-966.webp)

also delicious dipped in the soy sauce,

![Pork tail dipped in spicy sauce](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwangalli-pork-tail-grill-haean/gwangalli-pork-tail-grill-haean-15-1wnjx-966.webp)

and also delicious dipped in the spicy sauce.

![Pork tail wrap with scallion salad and garlic on lettuce](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwangalli-pork-tail-grill-haean/gwangalli-pork-tail-grill-haean-16-1q1xw-966.webp)

It also worked really well as a wrap — wrapped in lettuce with scallion salad, garlic and ssamjang, or eaten with pickled onion.

But my favorite combo of the day was spicy pickled mustard leaf plus pork tail. The chewy, savory flavor of the pork tail paired with the spicy, pungent kick of the pickled mustard leaf really cut through the richness.

We ended up eating almost all of the spicy pickled mustard leaf, haha. If you like pickled side dishes, definitely try this combo. Being able to enjoy the meat in so many different combinations is one reason Haean Sutbul Galbi comes to mind when I think of a good pork restaurant in Gwangalli.

One bite of meat, one sip of soju, another bite, more conversation — before we knew it, the mood was in full swing. It was the perfect menu for two of us drinking late in the evening.

## Mul milmyeon: the cold noodle bowl to order after the meat

![A bowl of mul milmyeon at Haean Sutbul Galbi](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwangalli-pork-tail-grill-haean/gwangalli-pork-tail-grill-haean-18-1ti4f-966.webp)

And personally, one of the most memorable dishes that day was the mul milmyeon.

![Close-up of mul milmyeon with toppings](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwangalli-pork-tail-grill-haean/gwangalli-pork-tail-grill-haean-19-1tthe-966.webp)

Honestly, I don't usually expect much when a BBQ restaurant serves milmyeon as its meal option, but this one was genuinely good.

![Milmyeon noodles lifted with chopsticks](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwangalli-pork-tail-grill-haean/gwangalli-pork-tail-grill-haean-20-p3ti7-966.webp)

The broth had a deep flavor with a hint of herbal medicine notes, and the noodles themselves were delicious too.

It paired well with the meat, and since I already like eating milmyeon while drinking soju, this was completely my taste, haha. A bite of pork tail, then a mouthful of noodles — it cleaned my palate every time, so I kept reaching for it. If you're after a good meat restaurant in Gwangalli and want a proper meal to go with it, I'd recommend ordering the mul milmyeon too.

## Doenjang jjigae with blue crab, closer to a Korean set-meal restaurant than a BBQ joint

![Doenjang jjigae served in a stone pot with a bowl of rice](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwangalli-pork-tail-grill-haean/gwangalli-pork-tail-grill-haean-21-3rlbh-966.webp)

We also ordered the doenjang jjigae.

![Stone pot doenjang jjigae with tofu and vegetables](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwangalli-pork-tail-grill-haean/gwangalli-pork-tail-grill-haean-22-1pkc0-966.webp)

It came in a decently sized stone pot, and inside there was tofu and vegetables, plus a whole large crab. One spoonful in, it tasted different from the usual BBQ-restaurant doenjang jjigae — more like the deep-flavored version you'd get at a hanjeongsik restaurant.

![A large chunk of crab inside the doenjang jjigae](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwangalli-pork-tail-grill-haean/gwangalli-pork-tail-grill-haean-23-qnqkk-966.webp)

The big chunk of crab gave the broth a nice seafood umami, and with rice it was seriously addictive.

Even after finishing the meat and drinking soju, the doenjang jjigae was so good we kept eating more rice. That's probably how we ended up eating so much that day, haha. I also liked that it wasn't just about the pork rib or pork dishes — the meal wrapped up properly too.

## Leaving Haean Sutbul Galbi completely stuffed

![Empty dishes on the table after finishing the meal](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwangalli-pork-tail-grill-haean/gwangalli-pork-tail-grill-haean-24-1fyxi-966.webp)

> My stomach is going to burst.

That's exactly what my friend and I both said as we left, haha. I'd had two bottles of soju so I left a bit of the milmyeon, but I still ate really well. My friend, on the other hand, cleaned his rice bowl completely, haha.

Between 3 servings of pork tail skewers plus the review-event extra, 2 bowls of milmyeon, doenjang jjigae, 2 bowls of rice, and 2 bottles of soju, of course we were full. But it wasn't just about the quantity — every dish was genuinely good. The pork tail with spicy pickled mustard leaf, and the mul milmyeon, stuck with me the most.

Before leaving, there was even candy provided as dessert. We wrapped up the meal, drinks and dessert on a good note.

## Final verdict on Haean Sutbul Galbi Gwangalli Main Branch

Haean Sutbul Galbi Gwangalli Main Branch seems like a great fit for anyone looking for something more special than the usual samgyeopsal or pork ribs. It was a good pick for meeting a friend late in the evening for meat and drinks — a solid choice if you're searching for a good meat restaurant in Gwangalli.

They note that they use domestic grade-1 chilled meat, and that the raw ribs are separately selected and cold-aged. The house-marinated ribs are also aged in a marinade made with domestic pear, onion and garlic, which made me want to try them next time.

Above all, the pork tail skewers we had that day really stuck in my memory. The chewy texture with charcoal aroma, plus the range of sauces from dried shrimp salt to soy sauce to spicy sauce, made it a great drinking snack. I especially recommend the spicy pickled mustard leaf and pork tail combo, haha.

The restaurant is spacious with good table spacing, and it doesn't smell as strong as you'd expect from a BBQ place, so it could work well for a work dinner or family meal in Gwangalli too. It's close to Gwangalli Beach, so you can eat and then walk along the beach afterward — and on Saturdays or certain holidays, it could pair nicely with the Gwangalli drone show or fireworks show.

Apparently the name 'Haean' carries a double meaning — 海岸, meaning coast, and also 解顔, meaning to let go of tension or worry and break into a bright smile. That day, after eating good meat with soju and leaving full, I think our faces really were full of smiles. 😊 If you're looking for a place in Gwangalli that offers something beyond the usual meat dishes — like pork tail skewers — along with a proper meal, this is worth a visit.
