## In short

Udon-i Wanseongdoeda Mokpo Peace Plaza Branch is a house-made noodle udon restaurant at Peace Plaza in Mokpo. On a lunch visit with kids, the order was niku udon, salmon bukkake udon, a charcoal-grilled pork rib rice bowl and soft-boiled egg tempura, and the eldest child cleared a whole bowl of udon plus a rice bowl. With both udon and rice bowls on the menu, Udon-i Wanseongdoeda is an easy pick for a family lunch near Peace Plaza.

## What kind of place is Udon-i Wanseongdoeda Mokpo Peace Plaza Branch?

While looking for a lunch spot at Mokpo Peace Plaza, I ended up at "Udon-i Wanseongdoeda" (우동이 완성되다, meaning "the udon is complete") Mokpo Peace Plaza Branch. There are tons of great Mokpo restaurants around the plaza, but that day I was craving something cool and filling, so I searched for a Mokpo udon restaurant and landed here. (Honestly, I'm an udon killer ✨ haha)

True to being an udon specialist, they had everything from classic hot udon to bukkake udon to rice bowls, so there was plenty to choose from depending on your mood :)

A waiting area, like any good restaurant has! There was even air conditioning in the waiting area so you could stay cool — nice touch, owner ✨ 👍🏻 And you can reserve through Catch Table :) so no need to wait around~

## Inside Udon-i Wanseongdoeda: seating and is it good with kids?

Udon-i Wanseongdoeda Mokpo Peace Plaza Branch has generous space between tables, so sitting with two kids wasn't uncomfortable at all. Thanks to the wood-tone interior, the vibe leans understated rather than flashy, which makes it easy to focus on the food.

Walking in, the first thing I noticed was how clean and tidy the overall atmosphere was. The wood-tone interior gives off a warm, comfortable feeling, and there's that plain, no-frills mood you get at a proper Japanese-style udon restaurant. The tables are spaced fairly generously too, so it works whether you're eating alone or coming for lunch at Mokpo Peace Plaza with friends or family?!🫢 Overall it's decorated more for letting you focus on the food than for flashiness, and I really loved that about it ✨

## What makes the house-made noodles at Udon-i Wanseongdoeda different?

Wait a second! The noodles seemed a bit different from regular udon noodles, so I looked into it —

![Sign explaining the house-made udon noodles](https://img.superchart.com/images/mokpo-udon-niku-salmon-bukkake-pork-rice/mokpo-udon-niku-salmon-bukkake-pork-rice-15-10jdz-900.webp)

Udon-i Wanseongdoeda's udon noodles are house-made, accounting for differences as small as 0.1mm, with a focus on preserving both elasticity and softness. They use ASW flour optimized for udon noodles and make the noodles using Japan's Yamato noodle-making system, which apparently gives them that distinctive chewy texture. Rather than rolling the noodles right after mixing the dough, they go through a resting period to boost density and elasticity, and the restaurant follows a same-day-mixed, same-day-made rule to keep the noodles fresh. That's probably why the texture — springy yet soft at the same time — felt so different from regular noodles on the first bite!

## Menu at Udon-i Wanseongdoeda and what we ordered

I couldn't believe how many udon options there were — with prices this reasonable and so much variety, it was a happy menu decision for an udon lover like me 🖤

We ordered niku udon, salmon bukkake udon, charcoal-grilled pork rib rice bowl, and soft-boiled egg tempura. I usually like hot udon, but it was so hot out that I went for cold udon instead haha

Just so you know ✨

The dishes came out in quick succession right after we ordered, and the little rascals were already fussing about wanting to dig in,,,!😗

## Niku udon: chewy noodles with rich beef flavour

First up was my favorite combo, niku udon (meat udon), and there was plenty of meat piled onto the hot udon broth — a hearty-looking bowl just from the visual! Picking up the noodles with chopsticks, I could feel just how springy and chewy the noodles were 😳 On the first bite, the noodles didn't fall apart easily and had a real bounce to them, so you could really taste the noodle texture itself!

The broth was clean but had a subtle depth of umami, and combined with the flavor coming off the meat, it became even richer and deeper. Eating the meat and noodles together was especially good — the savory saltiness of the meat paired well with the clean broth. A great choice when you're craving a warm, filling bowl of udon 👍🏻

## Salmon bukkake udon: cold udon for a hot day

![Salmon bukkake udon topped with salmon](https://img.superchart.com/images/mokpo-udon-niku-salmon-bukkake-pork-rice/mokpo-udon-niku-salmon-bukkake-pork-rice-21-1nw4i-900.webp)

For our second dish, we went with something a bit different: salmon bukkake udon. Unlike the hot broth udon, this bukkake-style dish is eaten cold, so it had a noticeably different look right from the start! Firm, springy udon noodles topped with salmon made for a pretty appetizing plate.

Mixing the noodles well with the sauce, the chewy udon combined with the savory, umami-rich sauce gave it a real kick. Adding the soft salmon on top made it even more savory and delicate compared to eating plain udon~~ On a hot day, or any day you're craving something light and clean, a cold dish like salmon bukkake udon really hits the spot better than hot udon! The contrast between the chewy noodles and the tender salmon was fun too :)

## Charcoal-grilled pork rib rice bowl: smoky, flame-grilled bowl

![Charcoal-grilled pork rib rice bowl with smoky aroma](https://img.superchart.com/images/mokpo-udon-niku-salmon-bukkake-pork-rice/mokpo-udon-niku-salmon-bukkake-pork-rice-22-14ewj-900.webp)

The last thing we tried was the charcoal-grilled pork rib rice bowl! I assumed a udon place would only serve udon, but they also had rice bowls, so this would be a great spot to bring friends who aren't into udon too! Charcoal-grilled pork ribs piled on top of rice, with a subtle smoky char smell that got my appetite going before I even took a bite,,

The pork was tender, and the sweet-savory sauce had really soaked in well; eaten with the rice, it's definitely a rice thief of a dish!! You~~ rice thief!!! The subtle smokiness from the charcoal grilling gave it more depth than a plain pork rib rice bowl. Piling meat onto a big bite of rice, you get the sweet sauce, the savory pork, and the smoky char all at once — a satisfying, filling meal :)

My eldest and I are both noodle lovers, and after finishing a whole bowl of niku udon, the kid said the charcoal-grilled pork rib rice bowl was delicious too and polished off another bowl.

## Is Udon-i Wanseongdoeda worth it for a family lunch in Mokpo?

A hearty meal 🍜 at Mokpo Peace Plaza. This visit to Udon-i Wanseongdoeda Mokpo Peace Plaza Branch was great because of the range of choices — from warm broth udon to refreshing cold bukkake udon to filling rice bowls. The niku udon stood out for its warm, deep broth, the salmon bukkake udon for its chewy noodles paired with soft salmon, and the charcoal-grilled pork rib rice bowl for its sweet sauce and subtle smoky flavor — each had its own charm :)

If you're trying to decide on lunch at Mokpo Peace Plaza, this place is great whether you love udon or prefer rice bowls ✨ Highly recommend‼️
