## In short

Kkankkanhan Jokbal Main Branch is a charcoal-scented jokbal (pig's trotter) restaurant that has long operated in Woolgye-dong, Cheomdan, Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju. The writer ordered the charcoal-grilled jokbal for ₩39,000 plus a flying fish roe rice ball and a review-event spicy fire jokbal, with steamed egg and doenjang soup included as basic side dishes, making it a solid soju pairing. Just remember only the parking lot on the right belongs to the restaurant, and it's a good pick for a Cheomdan work dinner or date spot.

I want to introduce Kkankkanhan Jokbal, a charcoal-scented jokbal (pig's trotter) place that's been running for a long time in Cheomdan, Gwangju. It's popular enough to have several branches across Gwangju, but the Cheomdan location is the main branch, which makes it feel a bit more special. It's the place I often think of when picking a spot for a work dinner or a soju drink in Cheomdan, Gwangju, so I wanted to share it with you all.

## Kkankkanhan Jokbal Main Branch hours and parking lot location

Kkankkanhan Jokbal, a popular blind-date and date spot in Woolgye-dong, Cheomdan, Gwangju, is open from 16:00 to 23:30. The parking lot is on the right side of the restaurant — the lot on the left has nothing to do with Kkankkanhan Jokbal. If you park there, you'll be charged a parking fee, so watch out!

This is the interior of Kkankkanhan Jokbal, a bossam (boiled pork wrap) and jokbal favorite in Woolgye-dong, Cheomdan, Gwangju. There are private rooms inside too, so the space is quite spacious.

Kkankkanhan Jokbal, a favorite spot in Cheomdan, Gwangju for baseball and soccer, has a big screen inside so you can watch baseball while eating jokbal. That day there happened to be a KIA game on.

## Basic side dishes include steamed egg and even doenjang soup

The basic side dishes include lettuce wraps and salad

Bean sprout soup and dried radish with pickled radish wraps

Kkankkanhan Jokbal, a soju work-dinner favorite in Woolgye-dong, Cheomdan, Gwangju, unusually also gives you doenjang (soybean paste) soup. It was nice and spicy, which made it a great soju pairing.

Getting steamed egg as a basic side dish was really a plus.

## Charcoal-grilled jokbal at ₩39,000 — the portion and the charcoal flavor

This is the charcoal-grilled jokbal for ₩39,000 at Kkankkanhan Jokbal, a favorite for takeout and delivery in Cheomdan, Gwangju. I order it for takeout delivery sometimes too, but eating it at the restaurant gives you better temperature, so I tend to prefer dining in.

![A full spread of charcoal-grilled jokbal](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwangju-chumdan-jokbal-parking-flying-fish-rice-ball/gwangju-chumdan-jokbal-parking-flying-fish-rice-ball-08-1ejcy-900.webp)

True to a great-value restaurant, the portion is really generous — enough for 2 to 3 people.

On top of that, even though the outside has that charcoal aroma, the skin was still chewy, giving it that real satisfying jokbal-eating feel. Haha. The lean meat-only parts were tender too, so wrapped up in lettuce it was pure honey flavor.

## For sides, flying fish roe rice ball instead of makguksu

You can't just eat jokbal alone, so I added some side menu items right away.

![Table setting of additionally ordered side menu items](https://img.superchart.com/images/gwangju-chumdan-jokbal-parking-flying-fish-rice-ball/gwangju-chumdan-jokbal-parking-flying-fish-rice-ball-10-1afiz-966.webp)

This is the flying fish roe rice ball. Using the plastic gloves provided, you shape it into a tasty rice ball. You can't skip makguksu (cold buckwheat noodles) or a rice ball with jokbal, and this time I chose the rice ball instead of the noodles.

## The review-event fire jokbal is also a special treat

Also, if you do a review event you can get fire jokbal, which has a different charm from the charcoal-grilled jokbal, so I'd recommend trying it as a taste-test.

The mayo sauce and perilla leaves on top were so appealing that this was a special treat on its own, separate from the jokbal. Especially the perilla leaves on top — that's the kicker!

Eating it like this is pure honey-flavored bliss~

Kkankkanhan Jokbal, a place people wait in line for in Cheomdan, Gwangju, also has various set menus, so here's a photo for your reference.

## Wrap-up

This time I visited Kkankkanhan Jokbal, a local favorite among residents of Woolgye-dong, Cheomdan, Gwangju, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a great jokbal spot in Cheomdan, Gwangju, or a place for a soju drink in Woolgye-dong.
