A large chicken kalguksu with extra chicken at 16,000 won and a chogye mil-myeon with extra noodles at 14,000 won arrived in washbasin-sized portions, and because the seasoning was strong for a toddler the staff added more broth for free. The side dishes are danmuji (pickled radish) and silbi kimchi! Small plates, ladles, tongs, scissors — whatever you need is at the self-serve bar. Good news — they use domestic napa cabbage!! For reference! On the day I visited, the jjimdak was sold out. A bit disappointing, but luckily the chicken kalguksu was more than satisfying!! Made fresh every day, apparently! It's spicy and a little fiery, but addictively good!! You can grab more from the self-serve bar. ### How big is a large chicken kalguksu with extra chicken? The large size for the chicken kalguksu is +₩1,000, and extra chicken is +₩4,000. Ordering it this way basically gets you a whole chicken's worth of kalguksu, enough for two people to share. Since Chaeni was with us, I added rice too! Haha. The chicken bone broth was loaded with perilla — seemingly sieved before going in, since it was incredibly smooth with no gritty texture. And it's piled with plump, chewy handmade noodles!! Being the large size, the portion was massive — basically washbasin-sized naengmyeon (cold noodle) territory, my husband and I were momentarily stunned... haha. Perfect to order for a Jeonju Eco City lunch or a Songcheon-dong family gathering!! The chicken inside was so tender you could practically eat it with your gums. Haha. ### Too strongly seasoned for a toddler, so we asked for extra broth It comes pre-seasoned, and it was a bit too strong for Chaeni, so we asked for extra broth! Haha. I figured this would be the most popular dish, and sure enough, every other table was eating jjimdak or chicken kalguksu too. ### Chogye mil-myeon, the chilled wheat noodles Chogye mil-myeon! Still hot out, so I wanted something cold. It comes with a slushy iced broth and a generous helping of neatly trimmed chicken breast. It's a totally different vibe from the chicken kalguksu but pairs really well with it, so I'd recommend ordering both! ## Final verdict A great Jeonju Eco City lunch and a perfect spot for a Songcheon-dong family gathering — Eonyang Dak Kalguksu! Delicious and filling but also healthy, so next time I'll bring my parents!!
