## Why we chose Yuok in Songjeong for day-one lunch with our baby

Hi, this is Mochi Mom!
An exciting first lunch on day one of our Busan trip with baby...!
We went to Yuok, a neat Japanese restaurant located in Songjeong, Haeundae-gu, Busan!

![Entrance to Yuok, a Japanese restaurant in Songjeong](https://img.superchart.com/images/songjeong-yuok-baby-friendly-lunch/songjeong-yuok-baby-friendly-lunch-04-zhqb1-966.webp)

![Yuok's exterior atmosphere](https://img.superchart.com/images/songjeong-yuok-baby-friendly-lunch/songjeong-yuok-baby-friendly-lunch-05-1rcz3-966.webp)

Yuok serves a clean, well-composed set meal centered around unaju, Japanese-style eel rice bowl. Living up to its reputation as a hot spot, it left a deep impression across the board — the atmosphere, the taste and quality of the food, and even the thoughtful service for kids. Here's my honest review, including my own money spent, with a detailed account and some visiting tips!

## Where Yuok is and where to park with a baby in tow

Yuok is near Songjeong Beach, so it's a very convenient stop after a walk on the beach or a drive.

![The way to Yuok near Songjeong Beach](https://img.superchart.com/images/songjeong-yuok-baby-friendly-lunch/songjeong-yuok-baby-friendly-lunch-06-m01l5-966.webp)

![Yuok's building and parking area](https://img.superchart.com/images/songjeong-yuok-baby-friendly-lunch/songjeong-yuok-baby-friendly-lunch-07-syoqi-966.webp)

The building has dedicated parking, and even if that's full, there's plenty of parking space nearby. When we visited, we parked comfortably right near the restaurant, so there was zero stress from parking (traveling with a baby!! parking matters so much).

## Inside Yuok: seating, highchairs and the waiting area

From the building's exterior to the interior and the cute little courtyard, Yuok is full of that quiet, sentimental Japanese atmosphere!

![Yuok's courtyard with a Japanese atmosphere](https://img.superchart.com/images/songjeong-yuok-baby-friendly-lunch/songjeong-yuok-baby-friendly-lunch-08-1cihl-966.webp)

The courtyard has a pond with colorful fish swimming around and neatly arranged succulents, so it's more than just a place to eat — there are plenty of pretty photo spots too.

The seating comes in various forms!

- Seating: solo seats and bar table, standing tables, group seating
- Baby-friendly amenities: staff kindly provided a baby chair and baby tableware, so families with kids can dine comfortably
- Waiting area: a separate waiting area on the 2nd floor means you can wait comfortably even if there's a line

💡 Reservation tip: As a popular Japanese restaurant in Songjeong, Busan, walk-in waits can happen! I strongly recommend booking ahead through the Catch Table app so you can go straight to your reserved seat without waiting.

## What we ordered at Yuok and what it cost

![Yuok's menu board](https://img.superchart.com/images/songjeong-yuok-baby-friendly-lunch/songjeong-yuok-baby-friendly-lunch-11-1q67c-966.webp)

Every single item on the menu looked delicious... so to try a variety, we ordered three signature dishes and shared them!

- Jumbo unaju set (eel rice bowl): ₩28,500
- Salmon rice bowl set: ₩23,500
- Saba ochazuke set: ₩17,000

Total: ₩69,000!!

## Jumbo unaju set (grilled eel rice bowl), 28,500 won

Yuok's signature dish, the jumbo unaju set! Big pieces of eel, grilled to a golden brown with a deep charcoal aroma, come topped with a special sauce. It's got an overwhelming glossy look just from sight alone, and one bite delivers a deep, rich flavor and soft texture that's just outstanding!!

The savory scent unique to eel paired wonderfully with the sweet, soft rolled egg — it genuinely recreated the taste of eel rice bowls you'd get in Japan!!

### Three ways to eat the eel rice bowl at Yuok

You can enjoy the eel rice bowl in three suggested ways so it stays interesting and never gets boring till the last bite!

1. Enjoy it as-is: first, taste the harmony of eel, rice, and sauce without any additions.

2. Add toppings: add the prepared wasabi and chopped scallions for a sharp, clean kick.

3. Turn it into ochazuke: put rice, eel, and your desired toppings into the small side plate, then pour the warm ochazuke broth over it. Personally, this eel ochazuke combination was my favorite and the most delicious.

## Salmon rice bowl set, 23,500 won

![Yuok's salmon rice bowl set](https://img.superchart.com/images/songjeong-yuok-baby-friendly-lunch/songjeong-yuok-baby-friendly-lunch-21-t8m90-966.webp)

Salmon rice bowl is a common enough dish that I expected a familiar taste, but since it's said to be Yuok's best-selling menu, I ordered it with high expectations!

And it exceeded expectations!!!! It was so good.

![Salmon rice bowl topped with aged salmon](https://img.superchart.com/images/songjeong-yuok-baby-friendly-lunch/songjeong-yuok-baby-friendly-lunch-22-397ei-966.webp)

![Close-up bite of the salmon rice bowl](https://img.superchart.com/images/songjeong-yuok-baby-friendly-lunch/songjeong-yuok-baby-friendly-lunch-23-1em7z-966.webp)

You could really feel the hand of someone with expert aging know-how — the salmon had absolutely no fishy taste, filling the mouth with its own true flavor. Even the rice alone was delicious, made with what must be really good rice. The salmon melted in the mouth, delivering the ultimate softness.

## Saba ochazuke set, 17,000 won

![Saba ochazuke set topped with boneless grilled mackerel](https://img.superchart.com/images/songjeong-yuok-baby-friendly-lunch/songjeong-yuok-baby-friendly-lunch-24-choj1-966.webp)

A set featuring simply grilled mackerel (saba) placed over rice! Since it's boneless mackerel with all the bones fully removed, you can break it into small pieces with a spoon and mix it with rice without worrying about picking out bones.

Partway through the meal, if you put rice, mackerel, and the side dishes into the small plate and pour on the ochazuke broth, you get a mild yet nicely salty ochazuke — so you get to enjoy two different flavors in one dish, which was great.

## Is Yuok worth it for a family lunch in Songjeong?

From the carefully prepared, clean Japanese home-style set to the great interior, convenient parking, and amenities — everything came together to win over the hearts of us three generations of women at this Busan restaurant, Yuok!! If you're looking for a date, a family meal, or a leisurely bite near Songjeong Beach — for Busan Songjeong Japanese restaurant, Songjeong Station Japanese restaurant, or Busan Songjeong eel rice bowl restaurant searches — I highly recommend visiting Yuok.
