## In short

Onjeong Gyeongyangsikdang Sanbon Academy District Branch is an old-school Western-style pork cutlet restaurant in front of Gwangjeong Elementary School in Sanbon, Gunpo, Gyeonggi, about 15 minutes on foot from Sanbon Station. On a weekday lunch, a solo diner ordered the buckwheat soba and pork cutlet set at the kiosk and got mushroom soup, a green-citron salad, and cold soba with slush ice floating on top. With seats that suit one person and a self-serve bar for rice, radish kimchi and salad refills, Onjeong is an easy pick for lunch alone in Sanbon.

Today I suddenly had a craving for pork cutlet, so I went solo to a Sanbon pork cutlet spot, Onjeong Gyeongyangsikdang Sanbon Academy District Branch! This should help anyone looking for a good place to eat lunch alone in Sanbon 🙌🏻

The restaurant is right in front of Gwangjeong Elementary School, so it wasn't hard to find. A yellow Haribo bear doll standing at the entrance really caught my eye, so I could spot it from far away!

## What is on the menu banner outside the restaurant?

Onjeong Gyeongyangsikdang Sanbon Academy District Branch has a menu banner standing outside, so I could scan the options before going in. It laid everything out clearly — mains like pork cutlet (gyeongyangsik style), spicy pork cutlet, cheddar cheese pork cutlet, and curry pork cutlet, noodle dishes like buckwheat soba and udon, plus set menus.

## Weekday lunch alone: is the seating comfortable for one?

I visited during weekday lunch hours, and since there seem to be a lot of offices nearby, plenty of group customers were there. Still, there were seats set up that were good for sitting alone, so eating solo didn't feel awkward at all!

Ordering was done via kiosk. It was split into three categories — pork cutlet & drinks, set menus, and Onjeong noodle menu — which made choosing easy!

## The fried-food poster on the wall at Onjeong

Inside, there was a poster on the wall reading "Clearly different — Onjeong's crispy fried food." It explained in detail that they only use thick-cut meat prepared that same day, and that the oil is kept fresh daily 🫢

Right next to it, I could see why they insist on using a breast-milk-style fryer, with a poster comparing oil oxidation levels using actual numbers — it made me trust the food even before eating 😋

I also snapped a photo of the menu board on the wall. I ordered the buckwheat soba and gyeongyangsik pork cutlet set!

Since they start frying right after you order, I waited a bit, but it didn't take as long as I expected.

## Buckwheat soba and pork cutlet set: taste and portion size

The set finally arrived! The soup, buckwheat soba, and pork cutlet all looked generously portioned at a glance. The cutlet especially was really, really big 🫢

![Full set with soup, buckwheat soba, and pork cutlet](https://img.superchart.com/images/onjeong-sanbon-pork-cutlet-soba-solo-lunch/onjeong-sanbon-pork-cutlet-soba-solo-lunch-15-1ohm5-900.webp)

![Plate with a large pork cutlet](https://img.superchart.com/images/onjeong-sanbon-pork-cutlet-soba-solo-lunch/onjeong-sanbon-pork-cutlet-soba-solo-lunch-16-18zy2-900.webp)

I tried the soup first! It was mushroom soup with big chunks of mushroom and a great aroma.

The cutlet's breading wasn't too thick, so the sauce soaked all the way in, which I loved. Cutting into it, I could see the breading and meat weren't separated at all — the sauce had soaked in moist all the way through!

The salad that came with the cutlet had a green citron-scented dressing on it, which was refreshing and paired perfectly with the cutlet.

### Cold buckwheat soba with slush ice floating on top

The buckwheat soba also had cool, refreshing toppings like green citron and radish. At other soba places, I've often gotten cold soba that ends up lukewarm, but here they floated slush ice and separate ice cubes in it, so I could enjoy it cold until the very last bite 👍🏻 The buckwheat noodles were chewy too, which was satisfying!

## Self-serve bar and the Naver photo review drink

There's a separate self-serve bar, so if the rice, diced radish kimchi, or salad that comes with the cutlet isn't enough, you can go grab more. I got more diced radish kimchi — big eaters should be able to eat plenty without worry!

They're also running a Naver photo review event — scan the QR code, leave a review, and you get a free canned drink, worth keeping in mind!

## Final verdict on Onjeong Gyeongyangsikdang

To sum up, this was a well-rounded meal — a crispy cutlet that clearly showed care in using thick-cut meat and fresh oil, plus a refreshing buckwheat soba with slush ice floating on top. There's good solo seating, and everything from ordering to using the self-serve bar was easy and stress-free, so I'd recommend it as a solo lunch spot in Sanbon!!

If you're looking for a good pork cutlet spot to eat alone near Sanbon Station, I'd recommend Onjeong Gyeongyangsikdang Sanbon Academy District Branch!
