It opens at 11:30am and closes at 10pm. And it's open year-round 〰️ The interior was clean and spacious. Instead of tables crammed together, the spacing was generous, so eating never felt cramped and the whole place felt tidy and comfortable. Since this is an all-you-can-eat spot with lots of pots and dishes piling up on the table, the roomy layout meant no trouble fitting multiple dishes at once. ## Four broths to choose from, mala for 4,000 won more Once seated, a staff member came by to have us pick a broth. You can choose from plain, sukiyaki, mala, or chicken bone broth. There's an extra charge for anything besides plain. We picked plain and mala (mala add-on ₩4,000). Being able to pick according to your taste was so nice. Tongkeun Shabu's self-bar has all kinds of salads and fruit, plus jjolmyeon (chewy cold noodles), chicken, pasta, dakbal (spicy chicken feet), pizza, naengmyeon (cold noodles), and even a sushi zone. It's almost worrying you'll be full before you even eat the shabu-shabu. Since we ordered mala broth, they also brought over a plate of mala hot pot ingredients. Happy 🤤 Cleansed the palate lightly with salad, then the real feast began. Loaded up rice paper and fresh spring roll vegetables too. Rice paper and broth are also all-you-can-eat. The mala broth was really tasty, more than expected. It had that tingling, numbing kick without being too intense or spicy, while still carrying the distinct mala flavor. Since the meat is sliced thin, you don't need to cook it long in the broth — just a quick swish makes it so soft and juicy. Dipped rice paper briefly in warm water, then loaded it up with shabu-shabu meat and crunchy vegetables, dipped in savory peanut sauce. ## Is Tongkeun Shabu worth it? Ended things on a sweet, cool note with ice cream. Tongkeun Shabu is a must-recommend if you want to eat big on shabu-shabu in Yeosu.
