🍶 A great-atmosphere Korean restaurant-bar in Dongmyeong-dong, Ju Myeongdang

Trying to figure out where to go after work, I visited Ju Myeongdang on the recommendation of a close friend who said the vibe and the food were both great. The place is clean with an atmospheric Korean-pub feel! I ate my fill of char siu bossam (pork wrap), seasoned galbi, and yukjeon (pan-fried beef) 🧡

## Where Ju Myeongdang is and what the room feels like

Ju Myeongdang is a Korean restaurant-bar on the 2nd floor of 15-2 Jangdong-ro, Dong-gu, Gwangju, in Dongmyeong-dong. Being on the 2nd floor, it still stood out even from a distance.

The vibe was already good starting from the stairs going up.

There was a good balance of table seating and private room-style spaces.

Overall it wasn't too crowded but the atmosphere really came through!

What we ordered that day was the Imo Babsang for ₩49,000 <recommended for 2>. Straw-fire char siu bossam + straw-fire seasoned galbi + beef yukjeon, plus kimchi jjigae, seasonal bibimbap, and naengmyeon! It's Ju Myeongdang's signature spread that lets you enjoy a whole variety of dishes generously with just one order. It was so nice not having to order every dish separately — everything came together on one table.

## Three meats in the Imo Babsang: char siu bossam, straw-fire seasoned galbi, beef yukjeon

The charm of the Imo Babsang is that you get three different meat dishes!

The char siu bossam had a subtle straw-fire aroma that added great flavor. The straw-fire seasoned galbi had a slightly sweet sauce that kept my chopsticks coming back. And then there was the beef yukjeon, which I love!

It was delicious eaten plain and also went really well as a drinking snack. I think meat lovers would be very satisfied. It was so nice not having to order dishes one by one — everything was laid out together on one table haha.

### Seasonal bibimbap

Eating only meat the whole time would be a shame!

After enjoying the meat with side dishes, having bibimbap too made it feel like a proper full spread!

A combo that covers both drinks and a proper meal — the Imo Babsang was exactly that haha.

### Aged kimchi jjigae

And of course, kimchi jjigae broth is a must while eating meat, right? Haha.

Having a bit of the broth between meat bites cut through the richness — the combination was great.

We finished it off cleanly with naengmyeon (cold noodles)!

After all that meat, a bite of cold, refreshing naengmyeon made my mouth feel clean. Meat → kimchi jjigae → bibimbap → naengmyeon — there was so much to eat, it was really filling haha.
