## In short

Jangwongap Kalguksu Yongin Giheung Branch is a house-made noodle shabu kalguksu (Korean knife-cut noodle soup) restaurant on Gomae-ro in Giheung-gu, Yongin, Gyeonggi. A couple stopped in straight after a Giheung Lotte Outlet trip the moment the 16:00-17:00 break time ended, yet the hall filled up within minutes, and they shared Jochiwon peach bibim mandu, chadol brisket and minari shabu, whole-shrimp seafood pancake and cheese noodles before boxing the leftover pancake at the self-packing counter. With baby chairs, free baby rice and seaweed and a lot for about 40 cars, Jangwongap Kalguksu is an easy choice for families with young children.

🍜 Kalguksu (noodle soup) spot, handmade noodles, kid-friendly restaurant: Jangwongap

Hi everyone. We stopped by Lotte Outlet Giheung over the weekend and dropped in at Jangwongap, a kalguksu place famous nearby. We got there right as break time ended, and I was surprised how quickly the tables filled up anyway. There were so many points that made it easy to bring a kid along, and a lot of families with children were there — let me introduce it to you :)

## Jangwongap Kalguksu Yongin Giheung Branch: hours, break time and parking

Jangwongap Kalguksu Yongin Giheung Branch is on the 1st floor of 90 Gomae-ro, Giheung-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, and it's open 10:30-21:00, with break time 16:00-17:00. There's Catch Table and a waiting area, plus baby chairs and free baby rice & seaweed.

🅿️ Parking info — there's a large lot in front with room for about 40 cars, so parking isn't a worry.

## How the Catch Table waitlist and the misugaru waiting area work

Jangwongap is famous for its waiting lines, so naturally there's Catch Table. Register there, fill out the order slip from the basket, submit it at the counter, and then wait.

![Catch Table waiting guide at Jangwongap Kalguksu](https://img.superchart.com/images/jangwongap-kalguksu-giheung-family-visit/jangwongap-kalguksu-giheung-family-visit-02-si87r-966.webp)

![Order slip writing space in the basket](https://img.superchart.com/images/jangwongap-kalguksu-giheung-family-visit/jangwongap-kalguksu-giheung-family-visit-03-1dy34-966.webp)

![Overview of the waiting seats at Jangwongap Kalguksu](https://img.superchart.com/images/jangwongap-kalguksu-giheung-family-visit/jangwongap-kalguksu-giheung-family-visit-04-2and2-966.webp)

![Snacks and misugaru prepared in the waiting area](https://img.superchart.com/images/jangwongap-kalguksu-giheung-family-visit/jangwongap-kalguksu-giheung-family-visit-05-sjiwa-966.webp)

Since this is a place with waits, the waiting seats were well set up. On the left you can see various snacks and misugaru (roasted grain drink) you can enjoy while waiting, so it doesn't seem boring at all. (We tried it on our way out after eating — you have to try the misugaru!)

## What Jangwongap Kalguksu looks like inside and out

Jangwongap is on the 1st floor of the building. The exterior looks clean, right? Let's go in!

The tables are mostly set up identically for 4 people, and we were guided to sit toward the back. Even though we walked in right as break time ended, there were already this many people! If you get the timing wrong, this is definitely a place where you'll have to wait.

## Menu prices and the kid-friendly service at Jangwongap Kalguksu

🙋‍♀️: We're a family with a baby — what kind of service is there for kids?

🙋: Baby chairs are of course prepared, and baby rice and seaweed are provided as a service. (You can take the leftover seaweed home)

## Everything the couple ordered, on one table

![Full table spread of the food we ordered](https://img.superchart.com/images/jangwongap-kalguksu-giheung-family-visit/jangwongap-kalguksu-giheung-family-visit-10-xfqt3-966.webp)

The food came out filling the whole table, and I worried, 'Can just the two of us finish all this??' We decided to eat diligently and started trying everything one by one.

### Jochiwon peach bibim mandu, only 20 a day

![Peach bibim mandu, limited to 20 a day](https://img.superchart.com/images/jangwongap-kalguksu-giheung-family-visit/jangwongap-kalguksu-giheung-family-visit-11-1xrkp-966.webp)

![A plate of peach bibim mandu served with vegetables](https://img.superchart.com/images/jangwongap-kalguksu-giheung-family-visit/jangwongap-kalguksu-giheung-family-visit-12-xiyy7-966.webp)

Only 20 a day! Once I saw those words, I couldn't not order it. And the visuals were pretty from the start :) The table next to us saw what we ordered and tried to order it right away, but were told it was sold out. I felt so bad for them ㅠㅠ

![Bibim mandu split in half showing the filling](https://img.superchart.com/images/jangwongap-kalguksu-giheung-family-visit/jangwongap-kalguksu-giheung-family-visit-13-1d29b-966.webp)

We tried it by splitting a dumpling in half. Crispy outside, moist inside. It had a lot of savory umami and pepper flavor, which is exactly our couple's taste. It was delicious enough even without mixing it with the sauce, but that peach-based seasoning was amazing!!! We tried it tossed with the vegetables, and the mild sweetness went really well with everything.

### Chadol brisket and minari ssam shabu

![Chadol brisket and minari wraps served separately on a tray](https://img.superchart.com/images/jangwongap-kalguksu-giheung-family-visit/jangwongap-kalguksu-giheung-family-visit-14-1bf0x-966.webp)

The chadol (brisket) and minari (water dropwort) wraps come out on a separate tray. The sesame oil served alongside plays an important role, so make sure to dip it!

![Pot of shabu ordered with spicy broth](https://img.superchart.com/images/jangwongap-kalguksu-giheung-family-visit/jangwongap-kalguksu-giheung-family-visit-15-nkzvv-966.webp)

We ordered the spicy broth, but if you're with kids, order the white broth! They'll get it ready right after adding the meat.

![Wrapping chadol brisket with minari and dipping in sesame oil](https://img.superchart.com/images/jangwongap-kalguksu-giheung-family-visit/jangwongap-kalguksu-giheung-family-visit-16-91r9v-966.webp)

It's nice that the meat cooks quickly :) I still remember the taste of wrapping brisket with minari and dipping it in sesame oil! The sesame oil is pressed at an actual oil mill, so it smelled even better. Adding a bit of the galchi sokjeot (salted fish paste) that came with it gave a different kind of saltiness from the sesame oil — really appealing. But I'm still team sesame oil!!

### Whole-shrimp seafood pancake and the self-packing corner

![Whole shrimp seafood pancake piled high with seafood](https://img.superchart.com/images/jangwongap-kalguksu-giheung-family-visit/jangwongap-kalguksu-giheung-family-visit-17-1kgnw-966.webp)

The seafood pancake nearly knocked us out the moment it arrived... shrimp, squid, and octopus were all piled in like that — I'd never seen a seafood pancake this loaded! There wasn't a single empty space. The moment we saw the size, we knew we couldn't finish it, so we decided to just taste it and take the rest to go haha. Usually with seafood pancake, if you get a bite without seafood, the rule is to grab from another spot — but here, wherever you pick, it's packed with seafood, so it was pure satisfaction. There was a reason every table was ordering one — it was that good.

🙋‍♀️: Can we pack up the leftover pancake?

🙋: There's a separate self-packing counter, so you can put it in a paper box, wrap it in a plastic bag, and take it home.

![Self-packing counter guide](https://img.superchart.com/images/jangwongap-kalguksu-giheung-family-visit/jangwongap-kalguksu-giheung-family-visit-18-895yj-966.webp)

### Cheese noodles in the shabu broth

![Fresh cheese noodles at Jangwongap Kalguksu](https://img.superchart.com/images/jangwongap-kalguksu-giheung-family-visit/jangwongap-kalguksu-giheung-family-visit-19-1o1au-966.webp)

The noodles were different from any I've seen elsewhere. I touched them and pulled with my hand, and they stretched out like cheese — such a fun sight.

![Guide to enjoying five different noodle textures](https://img.superchart.com/images/jangwongap-kalguksu-giheung-family-visit/jangwongap-kalguksu-giheung-family-visit-20-g012z-966.webp)

They showed us different ways to enjoy them at different cooking times, and it was fun! They said you can experience five different textures — chewy, springy, sticky, fluffy, soft — all in one sitting, so we decided to try it out too :) There was a reason they recommend around the 8-minute mark. It goes down smooth and delicious with no one disliking it, and I liked the 8-minute fluffy version best too.

### Uiseong garlic kimchi and perilla oil kkakdugi fried rice

![Uiseong garlic kimchi served as a side dish](https://img.superchart.com/images/jangwongap-kalguksu-giheung-family-visit/jangwongap-kalguksu-giheung-family-visit-21-1lbp5-966.webp)

![Close-up of Uiseong garlic kimchi on a plate](https://img.superchart.com/images/jangwongap-kalguksu-giheung-family-visit/jangwongap-kalguksu-giheung-family-visit-22-1xbqe-966.webp)

![Garlic kimchi served alongside kalguksu](https://img.superchart.com/images/jangwongap-kalguksu-giheung-family-visit/jangwongap-kalguksu-giheung-family-visit-23-182nk-966.webp)

There's a lot of fish sauce, but it doesn't feel heavy — it's a clean, refreshing kimchi that went well with both the kalguksu and the fried rice.

![Perilla oil kkakdugi fried rice provided as a free service](https://img.superchart.com/images/jangwongap-kalguksu-giheung-family-visit/jangwongap-kalguksu-giheung-family-visit-24-1q7lq-966.webp)

These days, when you go to a restaurant and want to finish with fried rice, they usually charge about ₩3,000 per person, but here they give perilla oil kkakdugi (radish kimchi) fried rice as a free service, portioned by headcount. The fried rice wasn't bland or overly strong, the seasoning was just right, and the crunch of the kkakdugi was appealing. Truly a K-dessert!!
