On nice-weather days it feels like a waste to just stay home, so I ended up going for a light drive. This time I headed toward Goyang for some fresh air. The place I visited was Baedagol Bakery House. It's not just about bread and coffee — there's a pretty garden attached too, which made it a great Wondang café to visit with a kid. The space was also bigger than I expected, so it was easy to relax and stay a while.

Even before stepping inside Baedagol Bakery House, the garden out front is beautifully arranged, which instantly put me in a good mood. Lush green plants are placed throughout, and you can see different flowers depending on the season — it felt less like a café and more like visiting a small garden.

On a nice day, it's worth stepping out into the garden for a short stroll instead of staying indoors the whole time. And if you're with a kid, it's not just about eating bread and drinking coffee — there's also a sand play area outdoors where kids can play for a bit. That means parents can enjoy their coffee while the kids play outside, making it a nice option for a family outing.

True to a bakery café, the moment you walk into Baedagol Bakery House, a wide array of breads catches your eye. From salt bread and croissants to baguettes, bagels, scones, and campagne, along with sweet desserts, the variety was pretty impressive.

Browsing through the breads one by one, you end up picking out bread even if you only came for coffee.

The breads on display were kept neatly in a clean glass case, making it easy and reassuring to choose what you wanted, especially with a kid in tow. And beyond bakery items, there were plenty of cake options too, so anyone wanting a simple dessert had lots to choose from.

### Is the americano at Baedagol Bakery House any good?

First, the americano had a clean, nutty flavor. Since the cakes were on the sweeter side, pairing them with a clean coffee like this worked really well. When a coffee is too heavy or overwhelming alongside dessert, I tend to lose interest, but here, a bite of cake followed by a sip of americano cleaned up my palate perfectly, so I kept going back for more.

The vanilla latte was sweet and smooth, so if you prefer a soft, sweet latte over a strong coffee, this would suit you well. And the Basque cheesecake — I really enjoyed this one! It had that signature dense, rich texture of Basque cheesecake, with the cheese flavor coming through nicely. It wasn't overly sweet either, which made it easy to pair with coffee. If you're a cheesecake fan, it's worth trying at least once. I had it with the americano, and the rich, sweet cake paired really well with the clean coffee.

I also really enjoyed the fresh fig cake slice. With the fig in it, it had a completely different feel from the Basque cheesecake. After the heavier cheesecake, the fig cake finished things off with a fresh, light note, so I was glad I ordered both together. The fresh fruit in the cake was a nice touch too. The greenery of the trees and plants blended together so well that on a nice day, just looking out the window would be enough to lift your mood. For a bakery café, enjoying the bread and coffee is one thing, but the atmosphere that makes you want to linger matters just as much.

Being able to sit comfortably indoors and take in the garden view also made it feel like a good spot to visit with family. So on the first floor, I got to enjoy both browsing the bakery and relaxing with a garden view — two charms in one. If you want to enjoy bread and coffee while looking out at greenery, this kind of Wondang café is worth checking out.

## The spacious second floor and terrace

Baedagol Bakery House isn't just the first floor — it has a second floor too, so overall the space feels quite spacious. The tables are fairly well spaced, and the second floor has various seating types, making it easy to pick a spot depending on your group size.

If you're looking for a quiet spot for coffee in the Wondang area, or a Wondang café where you can enjoy bread and cake together, it's worth stopping by at least once. It's also an easy drive from Ilsan, so it could be a good option for anyone looking for an Ilsan café to visit on a light weekend drive.
