Today I'm bringing you a visit record from Cham Dwaejitgan Sinjung-dong Branch, for anyone looking for pork belly in Bucheon's Sinjung-dong area. This time I had black pork belly with doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) and rice on the side. I only ordered 2 servings of pork belly at first, but it was so good I added 1 more and ended up polishing off 3 servings total haha. Alongside the thick cuts of meat, they grill kimchi, bean sprouts and minari (water dropwort) too, so the grill was packed with good stuff. Cham Dwaejitgan Sinjung-dong Branch really stands out because the space is so big. At the entrance there was a signboard walking through the meat menu, and it mentioned the meat is smoked with rice husks for flavor and finished on charcoal, which made me curious what would come out.

## Inside Cham Dwaejitgan at 11:40am on a weekday: seating and atmosphere

Inside Cham Dwaejitgan Sinjung-dong Branch there were so many tables, enough to easily hold group parties. Every table had its own grill and ventilation, which kept the whole place feeling pleasant. We came pretty early, around 11:40am, and true to its reputation as a Sinjung-dong pork belly spot, there were already other guests eating.

We sat by the window and ate while catching the cool autumn breeze — the view outside kept it from feeling stuffy.

The grill itself looked pretty unusual. And here, staff grill all the meat for you, so you just get to sit back and wait to eat, which is great!

There's a restroom inside the restaurant too! No need to step outside, and it's separated by gender, so it was easy to use.

If you upload a Naver review or an Instagram story, you get a free drink or fried rice, so it's worth trying! I got a can of soda myself haha.

The meat menu was varied, from Jirisan black pork belly and neck to Boseong nokdon pork belly, flower neck, jowl, and gabrisal. There were plenty of sides too, from kimchi jjigae and doenjang jjigae to steamed egg, cold noodles and fried rice, so there was something to pair with the meat no matter your taste :)

## Banchan and the grilled sides: kimchi, bean sprouts, minari, potato

The basic table setup came with lettuce, perilla leaves, shredded scallions and cabbage salad. There were several options ready for pairing with the meat or wrapping it into ssam (lettuce wraps). Eating just the meat is nice, but having this much to mix and match makes every bite different haha. Next to the grill, kimchi, minari and bean sprouts were already piled on before we'd even started grilling.

The salt, wasabi, garlic and such came on a divided plate. The third item on the top right, some kind of wasabi shiitake mushroom mix, was seriously my favorite. It was so good eaten together with the meat.

## How the black pork belly was grilled and served

Here's the black pork belly we ordered. The meat came sliced long and thick, alongside potato, mushroom and chili peppers. Even from the side you could tell how thick it was, so I snapped a photo before it even hit the grill.

They put the pork belly on the round center of the grill, while grilling kimchi, bean sprouts and minari on the side. With separate spots for the meat and the vegetables, the grill looked neat and organized.

They cut the long strips of pork belly into bite-sized pieces as they cooked. Even cut up, each piece was noticeably thick, and you could really see how substantial the pork belly was. They grilled the surface until perfectly golden, so the skin came out crispy yet chewy — honestly so good.

Once the meat was cooked through, they moved it to the side compartment and grilled thinly sliced potatoes there. Potatoes cooked in pork fat — need I say more? haha

I think I'm happiest eating white rice with kimchi and pork belly. How do you all prefer to eat your meat?

The grilled minari was fragrant too and paired well with the meat. Alternating between a bite with kimchi and a bite with minari kept things varied even with the same meat.

## Finishing with doenjang jjigae and rice at Cham Dwaejitgan

Here's the doenjang jjigae we ordered with the meat. It came in a stone pot filled with tofu, zucchini, onion, green onion and more.

Eating meat with rice, then having a spoonful of the warm stew in between, made the huge pile of meat disappear in no time. I think I'll come back next time I'm craving pork belly near Sinjung-dong Station haha!
